The Decline of Mideast Christians

Here is an issue and cause that you don’t hear the Progressive Movement give a grievance for. The number of Christians in the Middle East is declining. There are being forced out by Islamists and other factors. Nobody is discussing their rights. Instead all we hear is about how Muslims are oppressed and don’t have rights. Where are the calls to protect the Christians?

Mideast’s Christians Declining in Influence

JERUSALEM — Christians used to be a vital force in the Middle East. They dominated Lebanon and filled top jobs in the Palestinian movement. In Egypt, they were wealthy beyond their number. In Iraq, they packed the universities and professions. Across the region, their orientation was a vital link to the West, a counterpoint to prevailing trends.

But as Pope Benedict XVI wends his way across the Holy Land this week, he is addressing a dwindling and threatened Christian population driven to emigration by political violence, lack of economic opportunity and the rise of radical Islam. A region that a century ago was 20 percent Christian is about 5percent today and dropping.

Defending the rights of Christians isn’t considered cool by the Progressives and their Media allies. In fact I believe the elites in the West like this since it is what they want the future of America and Europe to be. They want the West to be Christian free.

Arabs Pressure President Obama

The Arabs are pressuring Obama to force concessions from Israel. It is working seeing Obama’s recent actions of kissing up to Muslims and cold attitude to Israel.  This is Arab Imperialism at work.

President Barack Hussein Obama Abu MaliaBLANKLEY: Arabs pressure Obama

The Times of London on Sunday published an interview with King Abdullah II of Jordan in which the maturing king demonstrated a deft touch in putting pressure on both the new prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and our president.

The king’s comments – coming two weeks after his Washington visit with President Obama, one day after his visit with the pope and one week before Mr. Netanyahu’s Washington visit with Mr. Obama – put heavy geopolitical pressure on Israel while simultaneously maximizing Mr. Obama’s personal stakes in success or failure of this newest Israeli-Palestinian peace initiative:

“[President Obama] feels the urgency of the need to move today. So this is a critical moment.

Note how shrewdly the king has tried to weight the scales for Mr. Obama. Our president is in the middle of what he has described as one of his important personal policy objectives as president: to reach out to the Muslim world and rectify relations between it and the United States. To that end, he already has spoken on an international Arab television network, spoken before the Turkish Parliament and next month will go to Egypt for a major address to the Arab and Muslim people.

And now, the king of Jordan, in surprisingly blunt language, warns our president that if there is not a peace deal in 2009, “all the tremendous credibility that Obama has worldwide and in this region will evaporate overnight [and] then there will be a feeling that this is just another American government that is going to let us all down.”

Afghanistan now is Obama’s war

Gen. David McKiernan, commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan has been asked by Defense Secretary Robert Gates to resign.  This was done because of the deteriorating situation there. By doing this, it is now Obama’s war, since they are calling for a new strategy.

It’s Obama’s War Now

Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced this afternoon that he has “asked for the resignation” of Gen. David McKiernan, commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, and that he plans to replace him with Gen. Stanley McChrystal.

This is a very big deal.

McKiernan’s ouster signals a dramatic shift in U.S. strategy for the war in Afghanistan. And it means that the war is now, unequivocally, “Obama’s war.” The president has decided to set a new course, not merely to muddle through the next six months or so.

Afghanistan now belongs to Obama. He can no longer blame Bush for what is going on there.  It will be his plans that succeed or fail.

Pope Benedict XVI walked out of an Inter Faith Dialogue conference after the Chief Islamic Judge of the Palestinians, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi bashed Israel.

Sheikh attacks Israel, pope walks out

Chief Islamic Judge of the Palestinian Authority, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, launched a poisonous verbal attack at Israel at a Monday night gathering attended by
Pope Benedict XVI
.

In a meeting with organizations involved in inter-religious dialogue at the Notre Dame Jerusalem Center, Tamimi called upon Muslims and Christians to unite against what he said were the murderous Israelis.

Good for the pope, however I wish my church, the Catholic Church would condemn Islam for what it is.  It is a Arabic Supremest movement masked as a religion. As a Catholic I have no respect for their fake religion or pedophile prophet.
