Breaking: Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan launch strikes on Yemen

The Iranian backed shiite militants, Houthis in alliance with former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh are advancingon the southern city of Aden. The only opposition is al-Qaeda which is in the central region. The current President Hadi was in Aden with a very weak force and called for intervention. Saudi Arabia answered the call and has begun airstrikes on the Houthis.

Saudi Arabia launched airstrikes against the Houthi rebels in Yemen early Friday, one day after the U.S.-backed Yemeni president was driven out of the country.

Ambassador Adel al-Jubeir said the operations began at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

He said the Houthis, widely believed to be backed by Iran, “have always chosen the path of violence.” He declined to say whether the Saudi campaign involved U.S. intelligence assistance.

Al-Jubeir made the announcement at a rare news conference by the Sunni kingdom.

He said the Saudis “will do anything necessary” to protect the people of Yemen and “the legitimate government of Yemen.”

Yemen’s Foreign Minister Riad Yassin told Dubai-based Al-Arabiya TV satellite news network that he officially made a request to the Arab League on Wednesday to send a military force to intervene against the Houthis. Depicting the Houthis as a proxy of Shiite Iran, a rival to Sunni Gulf countries, he warned of an Iranian “takeover” of Yemen. The Houthis deny they are backed by Iran.

It seems the Saudis are not alone on this.

Yemen, another success for the god-king!

Update: The Gulf countries are in on this intervention as well.

Riyadh (AFP) – Five Gulf states said Thursday that they will protect Yemen’s embattled President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi against Shiite rebels that have closed in on the city of Aden, where he took refuge after fleeing the capital Sanaa.

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and the UAE said they “have decided to answer the call of President Hadi to protect Yemen and his people from the aggression of the (Shiite) Huthi militia”.

The statement came as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Washington said the kingdom has launched a military operation against the rebels.

“The operation is to defend the legitimate government,” Adel al-Jubeir told reporters in Washington.

The statement from Riyadh included all members of the Gulf Cooperation Council except Oman.

Such a Warm Welcome!

There are conflicting reports of a recent visit by Star Trek Freak, King Abdullah II of Jordan, to a town located in the southern part of his country.
The discrepancy deals with just how the King was welcomed, just a day after he sacked (fired for us here in the USA) his Prime Minister to accommodate his subjects’ demands:

A security official said a crowd of youths flung objects at the monarch’s motorcade in two incidents in the town of Tafila, 200 kilometers (125 miles) south of Amman, just a day after Abdullah bowed to popular demands for an elected prime minister. This official, insisting on anonymity because he is not authorized to discuss royal matters, said the king was unharmed.
Government spokesman Taher Edwan later called the report “totally baseless.”
“There was no attack whatsoever with empty bottles and stones,” he said. “What happened is that a group of young Jordanians thronged the monarch’s motorcade to shake hands with him.” He said when police “pushed them away, there was a lot of shoving.”

A lot of good your noble appearance on Star Trek did ya, eh King? Just think, they’ll elect a Prime Minister so they can institute Islamic “reforms” which include even more virulent anti-Semitism!
Too bad you can’t take off to the Delta Quadrant….

Iran and Al-Qaeda try to kill Israeli Diplomats

The Progressive supporters of the Iranian Regime have for years been saying That Sunni Al-Qaeda can never work  with Shiite Iran. As has been documented here previously, Both Iran and AL-Qaeda cooperated in the Balkans. The 1996 Khobar Tower attacks was a combined AL-Qaeda, Hizballah and Iranian Revolutionary guards operation. Many AL-Qaeda fled to Iran  after our attack on Afghanistan. There is a history, granted they have differences but they have the same enemies.

In Jordan there was a failed attempt to kill Israeli diplomats. The Jordanian Intelligence said the explosives were from Iran and the attacked was attempted by AL-Qaeda.

Last week’s failed attempt on the lives of Israeli diplomats in Jordan was apparently carried out on instructions from Teheran, sources close to Jordan’s General Intelligence Department (GID) revealed on Monday.

The sources said the GID was investigating the possibility that the explosives used in the attack had been smuggled into the kingdom by Iranian diplomats.

The attack itself was apparently carried out by local al-Qaida supporters who received money and explosives from Iran, the sources said.

The Left will ignore this story because it doesn’t fir their narrative. Progressives support the Iranian regime since it’s anti-Western. They will ignore Iran’s assistance to AL-Qaeda. The truth however is out there, Both Iran and Al-Qaeda are part of the Dar AL Islam. They will join forces to fight the Kuffar. They may occasionally bicker and have some disagreements, but they are both on the same team.

Israel to Free Prisoners to Obtain Video of Soldier

JERUSALEM — Israel said Wednesday it would release 20 Palestinian women from its jails in exchange for a videotape of a captured Israeli soldier that would prove that he is alive.

French Mayors Fear Burqa Ban Could Not Be Enforced

PARIS (Reuters) – Several mayors of French towns faced with growing demands from Muslim residents say they fear a proposed ban on head-to-toe burqa and niqab veils could not be enforced and might even prompt more women to cover up.

Not all the mayors at the panel opposed the ban. Renaud Gauquelin, mayor of Rillieux-La-Pape near Lyon, said failing to take a stand would mean failing to defend the separation of church and state and, above all, women’s rights.

“What sign would we give to women around the world?” he asked. “To Iranian women fighting for their freedom? To Saudi women who want to be able to drive a car?”

Kartika caning undermines ‘moderate Islam’ image: SIS

SIS board member Zainah Anwar said while the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister have always been trying to project Malaysia as a model Islamic country, such a punishment was unacceptable and could be seen as too severe.

She said Malaysia had attracted international attention because of the Kuantan Syariah High Court’s recent decision to whip the 32-year-old, along with other issues such as the fatwa (religious decree) on yoga and tomboys.

“Foreigners are interested to come to our country because of the moderate image we portray but when they come here, they are shocked to find the level of conservatism being practised.

“So where is this model Muslim country we have been trying to promote?” Zainah told a press conference at the SIS office here on Wednesday.

Jordan bans anti-Israel demo planned by Islamic groups

Jordanian authorities have refused to permit a demonstration which the country’s Islamic groups planned for Friday in reaction to the entry into the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem by Israeli police earlier this week, the Islamic Action Front (IAF) said Wednesday.

“The Amman Governor Samir Mobaydeen has rejected a request by Islamic leaders to organize the demonstration in downtown Amman after Friday prayers to condemn the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque,” an IAF statement said.

Mobaydeen did not cite any reason for the refusal but said that his decision was based on “the authority accorded to him by the law”, it added.

Candidate wants ban on Muslim immigrants

A hopeful for a Texas congressional seat wants no more Muslim immigration to America. But candidate Canyon Clowdus doesn’t want to stop at the stance he outlined to the blog “Doctor Bulldog and Ronin,” which endorses him in the 11th Congressional District race.

“It’s not just (Muslims),” Clowdus said. “They need to check all immigrants. They used to assimilate.”

Instead, immigrants retain their beliefs, weakening America, said Clowdus, 40, a construction project manager in Marble Falls, Texas. The 11th Congressional District covers a wide swath of West Texas and stretches almost to Austin.
