Tonight’s Overnight Open Thread is a refreshing change of course for those who wonder just how the hell Khan escaped from the Earth in the first place…It is best seen in hi-res, but for those who would rather not, just sit back and enjoy.

Of course I downloaded the hi-res mp4 file, which is based on Greg Cox’s 2003 novel, The Eugenics Wars Vol. 2, and both this book and Vol. 1 does a great job in interweaving events from our timeline into the Star Trek setting…which is, thankfully, an alternate universe, but don’t tell the Trekkies that!
I once had these books on my old Palm Tungsten E PDA back in the day, and I suppose that once I get situated in my new apartment, I will go ahead and order these (and also the third volume, To Reign In Hell) for my iPad.
In summation, just to piss off those who crave the JJ Abrams version, there is only ONE Khan, and Ricardo Montalban is it!

Khan Noonien Singh to be the villain in the Star Trek sequel

And old favorite nemesis of Capt. Kirk is set to appear in the sequel for the new Star Trek series. Khan Noonien Singh, who was played by Ricardo Montalban in the old 60’s series and the movie Wrath of Khan will be re-imaged for the new series.

Now, we’re learning the villain in the upcoming “Star Trek” sequel will be none other than Khan Noonien Singh.

J.J. Abrams, the man who rebooted the “Star Trek” franchise three years ago, has gone back to “Trek” lore for the upcoming film. It’s a step up from Eric Bana’s villain in Abrams’ exhilarating reboot, who kept the plot in motion but hardly stood out as an iconic character.

This should be interesting and I look forward to the 2nd part of the new series.
