Shoe thrown at Hillary Clinton

I seems not everyone views Hillary as a benign “great Mother” figure who will save America. At a speech in Las Vegas someone thew a shoe at the Marxist pantsuit.

(LAS VEGAS, KXNT, A.P.)–A woman was taken into federal custody after throwing a shoe at Hillary Clinton as the former Secretary of State began a Las Vegas convention keynote speech.

The incident happened moments after Clinton took the stage before an Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting at the Mandalay Bay resort.

Clinton ducked but did not appear to be hit by the object, and then joked about it.

This is a waste of a show.

Tony Clifton: The Man. The Legend.

Tony Clifton Las Vegas

One thing is for sure. Tony Clifton is larger than life, and his imposing image on the Las Vegas Strip deserves to be spilled into the right hand margin. If you don’t like him, you can leave this blog right now. He’s that big.

The late Andy Kaufman knew Tony Clifton personally. For those who only remember Kaufman as Latka Gravas from the TV series “Taxi,” you’re missing out, as Kaufman was an awesome, if eccentric, comedian. Prior to his stints on SNL, Kaufman was a stand up comic whose specialty was long set ups that often had no punch line, yet occasionally provided a responsive audience transportation to a local venue for milk and cookies. He was also a talented impersonator.

Kaufman impersonated Elvis, Tito Puente and Jerry Lawler, but his epitome [embodiment, exemplification, quintessence, essence, perfect example, exemplar, representative, type, typification, personification, incarnation, archetype, model, prototype, pattern, ultimate, last word; see also model] was Tony Clifton, and it was spot on.

I’ve never seen a better impersonation of Tony Clifton, the greatest lounge singer/entertainer/comedian ever. So welcome to  Rafael’s Silver Cloud Lounge, order a tropical beverage (the tiny umbrella is free) and tip the waitress while we introduce the next act: The Overnight Open Thread.

Long Beach to Sydney Roadtrip, or Desert Bus?

Who’s with me? Meet back here in an hour with gas money.

Check out the route. Don’t miss No. 16 in the directions.  We’re headed for the wide open thread tonight.

Now, for some of you who can’t get time off of work without worrying if work will be there when you return, here’s an alternate roadtrip: DESERT BUS.

Here’s the lowdown. DESERT BUS is a simulation video game of pure endurance. The goal is to drive the bus from Tucson AZ to Las Vegas NV at a maximum speed of 45mph through the featureless desert, and back again.

The cruelest aspect of the game is that the bus’ steering is slightly out of alignment and it drifts to the right so you have to steer for the entire ordeal. If you run off the road, you go back to start.

But that’s not the worst. You can’t pause the game for anything.

Here’s the part that’s pure evil.  If you make it to Las Vegas, get this: YOU EARN 1 POINT, and then you then have the option of turning around and doing it again.

Highlights of the trip: a bug hits the windshield, and the sun goes down.

There have been DESERT BUS competitions for charity, too.  Don’t believe me? Lookee here.

Here’s a more recent video of Penn describing the purpose of the competitions with contact info.

So what’ s your choice? Roadtrip to Sydney, Desert Bus, or Beer Run?

casinos

These are pictures I took on one of my many trips to Las Vegas. I wanted to see how well the camera would do night scenes and I was pleased at the results. The casinos are on Fremont and Main in downtown LV.

If anyone wants the full size pics, let me know and I’ll fire them off to you. I have many more.
