That’s the correct way to clean 45RPM records. Cleaning vinyl 33RPM recordings takes a lot more, um, effort, as the larger cleaners are very rare and hard to find. As for CDs and DVDs, I’ve had success with the toothpaste treatment, and I’ve also fixed scratched discs with Brasso.
If your media is skipping, take some non-abrasive gel toothpaste or Brasso and wipe it onto the offending disc. Let it dry, then wipe it off radially, i.e., from the center outward. This is not a prank as it’s worked for me, especially on rented DVDs.
For you older folks, this treatment does NOT work on VCR tapes, cassettes or 8-tracks.
I notice that our Rec Room Video Library has been enhanced with a bunch of non-returned BlockBuster DVDs. Muchas gracias, but whoever owns the 5 volume set of Lesbian Amputee Dwarf Porn DVDs (yeah, real funny – we know who you are) may take them back home because we don’t do that stuff here on The Overnight Open Thread.

Seems like there was a movie not long ago 14 years ago where the main character was condemned to always tell the truth… with disastrous consequences.
Several people come to mind who would be fun to watch if they were forced to be truth-tellers for a day (or more). But enough talk about 1.0, because in truth, this is The Overnight Open Thread.

North Korea Observes Earth Hour

To be truthful, this is cheating a bit, as this satellite photo was not taken on 26 March. North Korea’s been observing Earth Hour for decades, every hour of every night of every day of every year, and they’re doing their part to preserve the environment and stave off Global Warming.
Just look at their selfish greedy capitalist neighbors to the south. Pathetic. If only everyone would follow in the AGW-enlightened footsteps of the land of, um, ah, [where’s my thesaurus?] well, you get the drift.
Speaking of drifts, the eastern U.S. is set up for a spring snowstorm courtesy of the Global Cooling efforts of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, so let’s turn on all the lights in the Rec Room, crank the stereo and heat up some stuff on the electric range while we enjoy the power of freedom here on The Overnight Open Thread.
