Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Sues NY/NJ Port Authority About Ground Zero Church

NY/NJ Port Authority and NYC Mayor Bloomberg Flout the US Constitution

As I recently blogged here:

It is absolutely inexcusable that, nine years on, that there are still no plans to rebuild the Orthodox Christian Church building that was destroyed on September 11, 2001. The parish still exists, but the New York/New Jersey Port Authority has made it impossible for the priest and parishoners to rebuild either on their original site or on any alternative neighboring site. The rebuilding of this church is being tied up in red tape, while at the same time, Mayor Bloomberg has been lobbying for 9-11 tax dollars to be used for building the Ground Zero Mosque.

Mayor Bloomberg and the NY/NJ Port Authority are violating the First Amendment to the US Constitution in two ways. They are violating the “free exercise” clause by making it impossible for the parish of St. Nicholas to rebuild their church, either on their original property or on an adjacent plot of land. Second, by promoting the infamous Ground Zero Mosque project, they are creating a de facto establishment of religion in New York City, namely Islam.

It is a long-standing practice of Islamic governments to destroy and expropriate church property, and to stop their Christian inhabitants from building, rebuilding, or even repairing their church buildings. For example, the Muslims in occupied Kosovo have destroyed well over a hundred Orthodox Christian churches, along with monasteries, Orthodox cemeteries, and other church property. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia forbids Christian worship and the construction of Christian churches entirely.

Is this the path that New Yorkers want their city to follow?

Statement of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and St. Nicholas Church, Announcing Federal Suit against the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Feb 14, 2011

NEW YORK – On February 14, 2011, St. Nicholas Church and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court in Manhattan against the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as well as other agencies and individuals, in order to foster the rebuilding at Ground Zero of the only house of worship destroyed by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

The Parish and the Archdiocese would have preferred to rebuild the Church without litigation. However, they have been unable to do so since the Port Authority renounced a long-standing agreement with the Church to rebuild at Ground Zero, seized the Church’s land, barred the Church from access to it, and has refused to talk or meet with the Church or the Archdiocese. This legal action has been taken not only as a last resort to restore the property and rebuilding rights of St. Nicholas Church, but also to fulfill the common vision of civil and church authorities that the Church be rebuilt as a place of prayer and meditation at Ground Zero for all people.

While the Port Authority has claimed publicly that it is currently in discussions with the Archdiocese in order to foster the rebuilding effort, in fact, in March of 2009 it summarily disavowed its agreement with the Archdiocese to rebuild St. Nicholas at 130 Liberty Street, a site chosen by the Port Authority, which is adjacent to the original location. Since that time, the Port Authority has rebuffed all efforts by the Church to work with it regarding the rebuilding.

Contrary to working cooperatively with the Archdiocese and the Parish, a posture which had prevailed between 9/11 and the Port Authority’s abrupt turnabout in March 2009, the Port Authority—without permission, notice, or any legal justification whatsoever—has sent its bulldozers onto both the land still owned by the Church at its original site at 155 Cedar Street, and the land provided to the Church at 130 Liberty Street pursuant to its agreement with the Port Authority. The Port Authority has conducted extensive excavation and other construction work that has kept the Church off of its own property, and has rendered both sites unbuildable by the Church without substantial remedial work.

The Parish and the Archdiocese hope that through this lawsuit, just and fair rulings will be made allowing for the prompt re-construction of St. Nicholas at Ground Zero, not only as a church serving its flock, but also as a greater ministry bringing peace, reconciliation and a sacred space of recollection and remembrance for all people visiting Ground Zero.

Thanks to Islamic Immigration “Merry Old England has morphed into Scary New England”

Who’s not surprised? Just about anyone with a functioning brain, that’s who.

Which is why liberals the world over were, are, and will continue to be the clueless dolts that they are.

Because of its citizens’ decision to not have enough children to keep funding its massively expensive socialist cradle to grave welfare programs that they can no longer afford (the same ones that Obungler and the libs here want us to replicate), Britain let hundreds of thousands of mostly illiterate and dirt-poor middle-eastern muslim savages, who still think and live as if it’s the seventh century, to emigrate to their country, and allowed them to collect massive welfare, until they “assimilated” and saw the light.

Yeah, right. That’ll happen, oh, like maybe…NEVER!

It’s like all of a sudden they were expected to wake up one morning and finally see the light that is the freedom its natural born citizens love and cherish, and to get jobs and come to love Britain, and when they didn’t, they act surprised.

If there’s one thing that’s as certain as the sun rising in the East, it’s muslims not wanting anything to do with the freedom and democracy we have and love in the West.

History has shown, time and again, for centuries, that these animals have no interest in assimilating onto any other culture, but rather, they want to take over and impose upon their hosts their gutter “religion” and culture, which has brought nothing but evil and death wherever it has been allowed to fester, like an untreated open wound.

Just the fact that the name Mohamed was, yet again, the most popular boy’s name in Britain, tells us all we need to know about Britain’s ominous future.

Fortunately, some EU leaders, among them David Cameron of Britain, Nicolas Sarkozy of France, and Angela Merkel of Germany, are beginning to see that this was a terrible idea. And do you think it’s just a coincidence that all are considered conservative?

Unfortunately, it’s probably too late to do anything, other than mass deportations, to solve this…

Merry Old England Morphs into Scary New England via Multiculturalism

By Doug Giles

It appears as if this multicultural smack we’re being sold in the U.S. didn’t work out too well in the U.K. Just this past week British Prime Minister David Cameron echoed German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s sentiments from last October that their country’s Pollyanna policy of multicultural yumminess toward Islam’s “way of life” was, in retrospect, really stupid—as in really, really, really stupid.

Yep, England’s giddy naïveté to prove to the thought police that they have evolved into nonjudgmental goo has led our snaggle-toothed cousins to open wide their borders to militant Muslims who hate the very ground that true Brits walk on. Now the Brits have a huge, stonking Muslim mess on their hands. Garsh. Who’d a thunk it?

Who would have imagined that letting religious gangsters immigrate to the U.K. (who happen to loathe British values, have zero desire to assimilate into the mix, and believe England’s laws suck and Sharia is simply fabulous) would have turned out bad? Who saw that coming?

I’ll tell you who saw that coming: Stevie Wonder, all myopic Cyclopes far and wide, and everyone in Europe who has a lick of common sense and a functioning BS detector. However, when these seers began to perceive the erosion of their life and values thirty years ago and when they started speaking out that these Muslims who “long to join” the British melting pot were not, if fact, melting but rather ruining the whole damn stew with their radical nonsense, they were immediately shouted down as xenophobes by the altruistic multiculties.

Yes, though it once seemed cute and cosmopolitan to have people from all over the Middle East speaking different languages, serving different foods, wearing burkas and playing different music, it has now turned ugly with Islamic enclaves completely at odds with British culture. And make no mistake about it: This Islamic hate came right in through the front door riding on the back of Kumbayah multiculturalism, and now merry old England is scary new England, and the U.K.’s become a hotbed for terrorists. Now they have hell to pay.

Rodan Update:

Now protests are breaking out in Bahrain. In case people don’t know, it’s a Shia nation ruled by a Sunni leader. Clearly if Bahrain were to fall, this could benefit Iran.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Thousands of protesters took over a main square in Bahrain’s capital Tuesday — carting in tents and raising banners — in a bold attempt to copy Egypt’s uprising and force high-level changes in one of Washington’s key allies in the Gulf.

The move by demonstrators capped two days of clashes across the tiny island kingdom that left at least two people dead, parliament in limbo by an opposition boycott and the king making a rare address on national television to offer condolences for the bloodshed.

[….]

The unrest in Bahrain, home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, adds another layer to Washington’s worries in the region. In Yemen, police and government supporters battled nearly 3,000 marchers calling for the ouster of President Ali Abdullah Saleh in a fifth straight day of violence.

This bears watching.

Big Peace Follows the Money: Who’s Funding the VMI Jihadi Sellout?

Here’s the problem. The once-venerable Virginia Military Academy has announced that they plan to host an event in honor of the brutal Muslim conquest and occupation of Spain in 711 AD. Rodan and I recently blogged about this in VMI Whitewashes Islamic Occupation of Spain.

Yes, General Stonewall Jackson once taught there. Undoubtedly, General Jackson, as a stalwart Christian, would be outraged if he were to learn that his former place of employment is now inviting our Muslim enemies to influence and mislead the youths who are destined to become America’s military officers.

Now, thanks to the detective work of Andrew Breitbart’s war and military reporting site, Big Peace, we can carry out the advice that “Deep Throat” gave in All the President’s Men; namely, “Follow the money.” It’s all about foreign funding for programs that expose future US military officers to enemy propaganda.

VMI Islamic Conference Grant and the Middle East Funding Connection

Posted by Christine Brim Feb. 7, 2011 at 11:10 am

Let’s follow the money trail behind Virginia Military Institute’s plans to host a “celebration” commemoration of the Islamic conquest of Spain.

VMI Barracks

Previously, Patrick Poole exposed the planned March 23-25 “celebration” entitled “711 AD – 2011: East Meets West” organized by the Virginia Military Institute’s (VMI) Center for Leadership and Ethics. Then he exposed the VMI cover-up, showing that in response to public criticism, the VMI had already changed its language regarding the event on its website. Originally the event was to “celebrate” the 1300thanniversary of “Tariq ibn Ziyad’s crossing of the Straits of Gibraltar” – in fact ushering in nearly eight centuries of oppressive Islamic rule in Spain – while the new version uses the word “commemoration” instead of “celebrate”.

That’s “commemoration” from the Latin commemorationem, meaning “to call to mind.”

So commemorate this: let’s call to mind the money trail behind the conference, and follow it to a much bigger set of questions for VMI and their funders discovered in an interesting little program at the Department of Defense, whose primary administrators and advisers are the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the Politburo of Communist China. And the trail gets even more interesting after that.

It all starts with the grant for the conference.

In 2008 VMI received a $665,000 grant from the Department of Defense http://www.vmi.edu/NewsCenter.aspx?id=22465 (h/t Patrick Poole) to “enhance its Arabic studies program and provide opportunities for cadets to study the language and culture abroad.” VMI was one of 8 schools to receive funding through the program, called at that time the “Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) Language and Culture Project.” According to VMI:

In addition, the grant will support a cross-cultural conference hosted by VMI that will focus on themes including literature, religion, history, language, politics, pedagogy and Islamic-Christian amity…

[…]
Next step on the money trail: the providers of that grant for the VMI conference, a little known Defense Department project now called Project GO for “Global Officers” (originally titled the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) Language and Culture Project), started in 2007 as part of the Defense Department’s National Security Education Program (NSEP). Project GO (Global Officers) is the source for funding $665,000 of the new $200 million VMI Center for Leadership and Ethics, faculty and programs, the VMI organization sponsoring this conference.
[…]
However, the Defense Department’s NSEP program doesn’t actually administer Project GO (Global Officers) – that’s done instead by another entity, the private Institute of International Education (IIE). And now the money trail becomes interesting. Here’s how IIE is described at Project GO (Global Officers):

The Institute of International Education – The Institute of International Education (IIE) administers the Project GO Institutional Grants on behalf of the National Security Education Program. IIE is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to building international goodwill through educational and cultural exchange among nations. By enabling more than 18,000 outstanding men and women each year to study, conduct research, receive practical training, or provide technical assistance outside their own countries, IIE fosters mutual understanding, builds global problem solving capabilities, and strengthens the international competence of U.S. citizens.

[…]
Let’s go to two advisory groups at the IIE, administrator of the grant for VMI’s conference: the International Counselors and the IIE New Leaders Group (NLG) .

First, those International Counselors– according to the IIE website, “Dedicated internationalists from all world regions provide advice and counsel to IIE’s senior management on topics related to their geographic areas and their global expertise.” The list of those “dedicated internationalists” includes Saudi Arabia’s Consul General, the Minister of Planning for Jordan, and (my favorite, a bit off topic but just too good not to mention in the context of “Project GO – Global Officers”) Li Yuanchao, Politburo Member of the 17th CPC Central Committee, Head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, Beijing China.

You bet they’re “dedicated internationalists.” And what a great group to have administering the primary language and culture programs for ROTC across the nation. What a great group to turn what used to be “United States Officers” into “Global Officers.”

But wait. There’s more. Meet the “New Leaders Group (NLG).” According to the IIE,

“The NLG serves as an idea generation engine for IIE and helps enable the Institute to increase its responsiveness to urgent global needs. By helping to harness and leverage the Institute’s resources and capabilities, the NLG will identify and address pressing global issues and make a meaningful impact upon the world we share.”

[…]
Why ask about that “leverage”? Look who’s on the list : “New Leaders” from just two countries: The New Leaders Group in the USA, and the New Leaders Group in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In fact, one of the putative “United States” group members is Serra Kirdar-Meliti, Director of the Muthabara Foundation, a UAE entity dedicated to maximizing “the potential of Arab women.”

And under the UAE list, those veterans of leverage in all senses of the word, theMohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. (There are others and all are well-deserving of further research, but let’s just “commemorate” a few facts about the Maktoum empire.)

Second on the UAE section’s list is Samar Al-Shorafa, Manager of Project Development at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation. The Al-Maktoum family is the ruling dynasty of the United Arab Emirates. The Al-Maktoum family controls the government-owned Dubai Ports World Corporation which caused a major political uproar stateside in 2006 when it was set to take over port security at 22 seaports across the United States.

The Maktoums have also been active in funding Muslim Brotherhood front organizations in the United States, especially the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). In 2002 the Al-Maktoum foundation provided $978,031.34 in the form of a Deed of Trust for CAIR’s (and here at Paul Sperry’s sperryfiles.com) Washington, D.C. headquarters. In 2006 UAE Minister of Finance Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoumendorsed a proposal to build a property in the United States to serve as an endowment for CAIR (h/t Adam Savit, editor at Cairobservatory.org )

Rodan Note:I called it, that there was a Saudi connection to this on me and 1389’s post!

Why the silence and why is a prestigious organization like VMI insulting a whole culture? Could they be receiving Saudi money?

I hope reports that Saudi Arabia has less oil than what is claimed. They are an evil nation that has brought nothing but misery to the world, the last 1400 years. Nothing good has come out of the Arabian peninsula and they cane at sand for all I care.

Egyptian Riots 2-1-11

Today the Egyptian opposition held a so called Million Man march, sounds familiar? 250,000 Egyptians turned out demanding  Mubarak to resign. Mean while the Muslim Brotherhood is spouting all the Progressive talking points. He said the Egyptian opposition stands for social justice and combating climate change. Progressive organizations were the originators of the protests and then their Islamic allies joined in. The Islamists are using leftist talking points to win over Western Progressive support. This is protest is following the 3rd World Liberation script: “spontaneous” protests, a “Million Man” march, then a “Popular Uprising” followed by a “People’s Provisional” government. Although the grievances for the protests are real, this was planned and manufactured.

The Muslim  Brotherhood is play western Progressives like a fiddle. One of their leaders says his group wants war with Israel.

Mohamed Ghanem, one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, calls Egypt to stop pumping gas to Israel and prepare the Egyptian army for a war with it’s eastern neighbor.

Speaking with Iranian television station Al-Alam, Mohamed Ghanem blamed Israel for supporting Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Ghanem also said that the Egyptian police and army won’t be able to stop the Muslim Brotherhood movement.

The Progressives will love this stance and continue to support the Muslim Brotherhood. They hate Israel and want it destroyed, hence their love of the Brotherhood. The Progressive-Islamic Axis is flexing its muscle in Egypt.

Update: Jordan’s King dissolves his government and seeks to form a new one.

King Abdullah II of Jordan has sacked his government in the wake of street protests and has asked an ex-army general to form a new cabinet, Jordan’s Royal Palace has announced.

King Abdullah’s move on Tuesday comes after thousands of Jordanians took to the streets, inspired by anti-government protests in Tunisia and Egypt. Jordanians had been calling for the resignation of prime minister Samir Rifai who is blamed for a rise in fuel and food prices and slowed political reforms.

A Jordanian official said the monarch officially accepted the resignation of Rifai, a wealthy politician and former court adviser, and asked Marouf Bakhit to form a new cabinet.

The Jordanian situation needs to be watched.

Update II: Bob in Breckenridge has a link showing the connections Western Progressive groups have to the Egyptian protests.

For all the lack of clarity on where the Obama administration stands, one thing is becoming more and more clear: Signs are beginning to point more toward the likelihood that President Obama’s State Department, unions, as well as Left-leaning media corporations are more directly involved in helping to ignite the Mid-East turmoil than they are publicly admitting.

If it is indeed the case that the Obama administration, with help by private-sector companies and the union movement has led an “internet revolution” in the middle east and toppled two governments within a month, the longer-term ramifications for U.S. relations with other allies such as Saudi Arabia and certain other Arab monarchies, could prove to have much more far-reaching consequences.

This is the Cloward-Piven strategy done on a global scale.
