“This mysterious video from the British Pathé vaults had very little written down in the canister notes. The video was originally issued on the 22nd November 1937. The ‘Pygmy Princess’ comes out of some plants and does a bizarre dance whilst laughing wildly and speaking in what is presumably her native tongue. The Pathé narrator is very idiosyncratic of that period.” — British Pathé

BTW, last night’s OOT was updated to reflect the current meme, because we take pride in presenting inane internest trends on The Overnight Open Thread.

Whole Lotta Love – Lois & Tony

Image from Square America. Unfortunately that awesome blog no longer exists, so we can only speculate on what Lois and Tony were up to at the West Memphis Holiday Inn in 1956.  Maybe a few drinkies by the pool coerced Tony to get out the Brownie to preserve their fond memories on Kodak Verichrome Pan Film in front of the bathroom door.

Perhaps Tony knew that some day, somewhere, his photographic artistry would show up on the yet-to-be-invented internest and be featured here, with respect, on The Overnight Open Thread.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

[Found here, via here.]
I don’t mind spiders, most of them are good guys and they take care of the other pests. This is the season for orb weavers in these parts.

These days they’re bigass big, and they often choose the wrong spots for their orbs, like right across the path to the front door. Walking through a spider web doesn’t bother me much, but the reactions of orb weaver spiders creep me right out. When you tear their web, they drop.

They drop, and they land on whatever happens to be directly below them, like YOUR BACK. And once the spider drops, we know that the little bastard climbs back up to hide in your hair, and we’re forced to do the OMGGTFO Dance.

Spiders don’t want to eat us, even if they’ve got a span of 6 feet or so (like that one above). So here’s to 6-foot-diameter spiders, just to creep you out on

Don’t know exactly, but something seems vaguely familiar about those guys. It’ll come to me eventually. Reminds me of, um, nah. Can’t be. Gotta be a coincidence. On the other hand, it’s no coincidence that it’s posted here, on
The Overnight Open Thread.
