Afghanistan President signs law to ‘legalise’ rape

Afghanistan’s President, Hamid Karzai, has signed a law which “legalises” rape, women’s groups and the United Nations warn. Critics claim the president helped rush the bill through parliament in a bid to appease Islamic fundamentalists ahead of elections in August.

In a massive blow for women’s rights, the new Shia Family Law negates the need for sexual consent between married couples, tacitly approves child marriage and restricts a woman’s right to leave the home, according to UN papers seen by The Independent.

“It is one of the worst bills passed by the parliament this century,” fumed Shinkai Karokhail, a woman MP who campaigned against the legislation. “It is totally against women’s rights. This law makes women more vulnerable.”

The law regulates personal matters like marriage, divorce, inheritance and sexual relations among Afghanistan’s minority Shia community. “It’s about votes,” Ms Karokhail added. “Karzai is in a hurry to appease the Shia because the elections are on the way.”

The provisions are reminiscent of the hardline Taliban regime, which banned women from leaving their homes without a male relative. But in a sign of Afghanistan’s faltering steps towards gender equality, politicians who opposed it have been threatened.

“There are moderate views among the Shia, but unfortunately our MPs, the people who draft the laws, rely on extremists,” Ms Karokhail said.

Arab Terrorist Attack In Jerusalem

Although I am sure you hadn’t heard about it, there was a terrorist attack in Jerusalem.

For the fourth time, an Arab used a tractor to commit what he hoped would be a muderous rampage against innocent civilians.

This Terrorist, like many of those before him was an Arab resident of Jerusalem, who was married, had one child, had a job, and lived with his family in Beit Hanina, in the northeastern part of the city.

Two police officers were wounded in Jerusalem shortly after 1:00 p.m. when an Arab-driven bulldozer plowed into their vehicle. Other police officers who were patrolling nearby began firing at 26-year-old Mir’i Radeideh, as did a civilian taxi driver, “until he stopped moving,” according to one of the officers who shot him.

According to an eyewitness, the Arab rammed the police car, flipping it over twice, and then tried to push it into the bus, which was empty at the time. He was shot as he attempted to crush other vehicles with the bulldozer. An open Koran was found in the driver’s compartment, according to Jerusalem District Police Commander Nissan Shaham.

Security personnel and medical first responders from Magen David Adom emergency services rushed to the scene. Paramedics treated the mortally wounded terrorist, who was then evacuated to Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in the capital. The medics also treated both of the wounded police officers at the scene before they were evacuated to Shaare Tzedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals.

The terrorist later died of his wounds. The two police officers are listed in good condition. Four other people were treated for severe emotional trauma.

The incident occurred at a busy intersection in southern Jerusalem, where the Menachem Begin Highway meets Eliyahu Golumb Blvd., not far from Teddy Stadium and the popular Malcha Mall.

Two similar attacks using tractors or bulldozers were perpetrated by eastern Jerusalem Arabs in July 2008. In the first one, three people were murdered in their cars, while in the second one, no one was killed, though over 30 people were injured. Civilians on the scene shot and killed the terrorist in both incidents.

Commander Shaham said that a list of all bulldozer owners and licensed bulldozer drivers in the greater Jerusalem metro area has been compiled following the incident, although “this is not the kind of attack we can anticipate in order to prevent in advance.” The terrorist’s identity was not discovered until hours later.

Senior Hamas terrorist spokesman Mushir al-Masri praised the bulldozer attacker in a statement released to the media shortly after the incident. “The operation in Jerusalem was a natural response to aggression against our people. The Zionist enemy should realize that they alone bear the responsibility for displacing our people in Jerusalem and for the killings in Gaza and [Judea and Samaria].”

Also, does anyone doubt that this would have made the front page of every major newspaper, and every news channel, if instead of an Arab resident of Jerusalem attacking Jews it was a a Jewish resident of “Palestine”…..oh, wait, those aren’t allowed to exist…Jews aren’t allowed to live in “Palestine”…um…if it were a  Jewish person who attacked Arabs?

Meir Kahane: Who Was He Really?

Although I do not support everything Meir Kahane has ever said or done, I believe in free speech, fighting Terrorism, and the truth.

It is my personal belief that he was exceptionally misunderstood by naive, small-minded, and politically motivated hucksters, who slandered him with disgusting epithets in order to serve their own power.   The most commonly held negative opinion of Meir Kahane is one based on misrepresentations of his message, misquotations and ignorance.

But the aforementioned is solely my opinion, and I do not want you to simply take my word for it.  Thus, I greatly encourage you to read his books, and speeches then make up your own mind.

( If you are looking for a book to start with, I recommend: They Must Go!)

Now, without further ado, I present to you Meir Kahane.

Mier Kahane

“If we ever hope to rid the world of the political AIDS of our time, terrorism, the rule must be clear: One does not deal with terrorists; one does not bargain with terrorists; one kills terrorists.

“Never, ever deal with terrorists. Hunt them down and, more important, mercilessly punish those states and groups that fund, arm, support, or simply allow their territories to be used by the terrorists with impunity.

“One of the great problems with Americans is that – being a decent people – they assume that everyone else is equally decent.

U.S. Bill To Require U.N. Accountability!

by WrathofG-d ( 13 Comments › )

Yesterday, JTA reported that Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R) sponsored a Legislation promoting United Nations reform, which could require withholding U.S. contributions to the U.N relief agency assisting Palestinian refugees.  As of yesterday, it had 39 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives.

un-building-new-yorkUN reform bill garners 39 co-sponsors

The United Nations Transparency, Accountability and Reform Act, sponsored by House Foreign Affairs Committee ranking Republican member Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Fla.), would require that the United States withhold U.S. contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency unless certification could be provided that nobody associated with, or receiving money from, the agency is associated with terror.

UNRWA has said it doesn’t have the resources to check the background of everyone affiliated with the group, but it does run the names of some of its employees by Israeli intelligence services. A recent report released by the pro-Israel Washington Institute for Near East Policy found that very few of the agency’s 15,000 employees in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are affiliated with terror groups, but said that the agency has allowed itself to become politicized.

The legislation would also require an audit of five other U.N. entities devoted to the Palestinians as well as any other entity that “results in duplicative efforts or fails to ensure balance” in its approach to Israeli-Palestinian issues, and would require the United States to withhold from its regular contributions to the world body the amount of money expended on such duplicative agencies.

Among the other provisions of the bill is one which states that the U.S. must press the U.N. Secretary General to issue a directive requiring all U.N. employees and employees of U.N. agencies to officially and publicly condemn anti-Semitic statements made in U.N.-affiliated forums, and would require any of those employees to be subject to punitive actions for making any anti-Semitic statements or references.
