From Blazing Cat Fur:

Mohammed cartoon controversy comes to Canada: Security concerns cancel 2 Lars Vilks dates

NB: Lars Vilks, Mohammed Cartoonist, will be in Toronto Sunday Oct 3. Ticket information here.

“It appears that Mr. Vilks is considered a very high security threat by U.S. law enforcement, and it was decided that they would cancel because they could not secure the event to everyone’s liking,” Ambrogio said.

Much more information is available at Gates of Vienna:

Dereliction of Duty

The onus should NEVER be on the speaker to pay for security against leftist and/or jihadist thugs who use threatened or actual violence to suppress the freedoms of speech, the press, and assembly.

It is the job of the government to round up, arrest, try, and imprison (or deport) ALL lawbreakers who suppress our freedoms by threatening or committing violent acts, regardless of the religion or ideology espoused by the perpetrators.

Our public safety authorities have completely failed to do their jobs. There is absolutely NO excuse for this!

Update: Beeduwine points out:

Vilks is no cartoonist. He is an artist, art critic, art history phd, writer and debateur.

Comments are the sole opinion of the comment writer, just as each thread posted is the sole opinion or post idea of the administrator that posted it or of the readers that have written guest posts for the Blogmocracy.

Obscene, abusive, or annoying remarks may be deleted or moved to spam for admin review, but the fact that particular comments remain on the site in no way constitutes an endorsement of their content by any other commenter or the admins of this Blogmocracy.

We're not easily offended and don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around here (like at another place that shall remain nameless) but of course, there is a limit to everything.

Play nice!
