Cop Cars have a sound all their own…no matter where they hail from. Here are a couple of examples…
First, The NYPD!

I hear (no pun intended) part of their repertoire includes the new “Rumbler” siren which emanates very low-frequency sounds you can feel. Perhaps our friends in New York City can corroborate this?
Next, Die Polizei in Berlin, Deutschland!

Eight others are found over at Jalopnik. Whichever siren you identify with, that’s the one heralding the Overnight Open Thread!

The Tennessean: Davidson sheriff’s booking policy eases rules on religious headwear

A Muslim woman told to remove the veil covering her face to pose for a jail mugshot has prompted the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office to revise its policy regarding religious headwear.

Beginning Friday, a person wearing face-covering religious headwear who is being booked into the jail will have two mugshots — one with the coverings on; the other will be taken with the headwear removed from the person’s face.

The second shot will be taken in the presence only of a same-sex guard, be kept in a confidential file, and opened only through judicial order, said Karla Weikal, sheriff’s office spokeswoman.

The same rule applies at security checkpoints at Justice A.A. Birch Criminal Justice Building, Historic Metro-Nashville Courthouse and Davidson County Juvenile Justice Center. If someone wearing a type of religious headwear sets off a metal detector at the entrance, the person will be taken to a private room by a guard of the same sex. There, the person will remove the headdressing and be screened.

While local civil rights and religious leaders Tuesday applauded the revisions, some Middle Tennessee law enforcement officials said the sheriff’s office might be taking things a bit too far.

“…taking things a bit too far”?

Gee, ya think?

“We respect religious rights, but sometimes common sense has to play in here a little bit,” said Wilson County Sheriff Terry Ashe. “I don’t care if it’s Bubba with a cowboy hat or if it’s a religious situation, for everyone’s safety, we’re going to take a mugshot, and when it comes to booking photos, I’m going to have to see who you are.”

The Muslim woman who was told to remove her veils for her booking photo in Davidson County contacted the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee, which started in April negotiating with the sheriff’s office about changes to its religious accommodation policy. That policy took effect in 1998 but is modified each year…

Read it all.

This is perfectly ridiculous.

Nobody in the US has any business wearing facial disguise in public to begin with, much less committing a crime with it on.

In the US or any other non-Muslim nation, facial disguise (the burqa, or the hijab and niqab, or anything else) violates our own social mores. As a way of verifying identity and establishing the level of trust that allows our society to function, we expect that persons of both sexes and all ages go about in public with their faces and heads exposed. Not only the face itself, but also the neck, ears, head shape, and hair, form part of the visual cues that we use to recognize and identify one another.

When we see someone whose face is concealed, other than during a masquerade event or in exceedingly cold weather (uncommon in Tennessee), we wonder whether that person is getting ready to loot a store, rob a bank, throw a bomb, join a lynch mob, or commit other violent crimes. Considering the facial disguises worn by many of the recent rioters in the UK, our mistrust is well founded.

Not About Modesty

Burqa-wearers claim that their “modesty” is offended by any attempts to get them to doff their facial disguise. That’s hogwash! In our part of the world, modesty is all about not attracting undue attention to oneself. Going around with a bag over one’s head and body is the antithesis of modesty. It is all about confrontation; it is a test to see whether we will back down. One reason why Muslimas wear the burqa in Tennessee is because it puts pressure on non-Muslims. Even the hijab alone, by which I mean just the head/neck scarf, without the niqab (i.e., the face veil), serves as an “in your face” confrontation. The hijab is a visual sign of the wearer’s rejection of the customs and the community ties of native-born Americans and even of the sensibilities of those immigrants who came to the US because they approve of what we stand for (or of what the US once stood for). It is an implied statement that normal American women who do not cover their heads are somehow “immodest.”

If you cannot cope with the idea of your face being exposed in public, then you do not belong in this part of the world. Just go home immediately, take your friends and family with you, and never come back. Or don’t come here in the first place!

Security Risk

The burqa is an unacceptable security risk, even in Muslim countries! There is no way to know who (male, female, criminal, terrorist) or what (contraband, including BOMBS) might be under that burqa. By the time the authorities apprehend the suspect and remove the disguise, it may be too late to prevent a massacre or other major disaster. This is why the burqa is banned in some countries and cities.

“Religious headgear”?

Calling the burqa “religious headgear” is a whitewash in and of itself. What kind of “religion” expects teenage girls and adult women go around with bags over their heads? I contend that Islam is not a religion at all, but rather, an enemy, totalitarian, expansionist political ideology that seeks to rid the world of everything but itself. There is no reason why we need to give any totalitarian ideology the First Amendment protection that belongs to the free exercise of religion. In fact, according to the Qur’an, the stated goal of Islam is to encroach upon and destroy our own freedom to reject Islam!

Why is Davidson County so important?

Davidson County’s policy on shari’a law is important because Davidson County exercises jurisdiction over a populous metropolitan area that is also the capital of Tennessee.

According to Wikipedia:

Davidson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of 2010, the population was 626,681. Its county seat is Nashville.[1]

In 1963, the City of Nashville and the Davidson County government merged, so the county government is now known as the “Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County,” or “Metro Nashville” for short.

Nashville is also the capital of Tennessee. The upshot is that decisions that are made in Davidson County will not only affect “Metro Nashville” but also exert influence upon the entire State.

Blog admins 1389 and CzechRebel have been to Nashville. We both vehemently oppose the ongoing Muslim attempts to infiltrate the Southern US and to impose a parallel system of shari’a law upon it. We are far from alone in this. The South continues to be a bastion of Judaeo-Christian civilization, which is why the tranzi-progressive/pro-jihadi axis constantly bashes Southerners as “rednecks,” “hillbillies,” “bigots,” and so forth. It is all because the “common folks” of the “Red States” in the South keep getting in the way of their evil agenda.

No mosques in Dixie, and no burqas either!

The Angry White Man is the Terrorist in Iowa

There are so many wrong assumptions and silly fantasy world thought patterns occurring in Iowa.

Assumption one:  people against illegal immigration want to kill immigrants (illegal or not)

Assumption two: angry white men are the only group capable of  being perpetrators of mass killings

Why cant we train for a Beslan style attack where muslims actually shoot up a schoolhouse, murder children and take hostages, THAT has ACTUALLY happened. Or maybe train for a mass casualty event that is a trerror attack by muslims, that has actually happened too…I know, you are incredulous, but really, the religion of peace ™ has had some terrorists in it…this exercise is about terror, is it not? See thast counteron the right bar of this page, Iowa officials? it says almost 17,000 DEADLY acts of terror have been carried out by muslims in the name of isalm since 9-11.  Name the enmey, name the threat, know the enemy , know the threat.

I will highlight some of William Petroski’s article from the Des Moines Register:

Critics: Iowa terror drill portrays immigration foes as killers

Foes of illegal immigration are up in arms over plans for a weekend disaster exercise in western Iowa with a fictitious scenario in which young white supremacists shoot dozens of people amid rising tensions involving racial minorities and illegal immigrants.

The exercise is planned for Saturday at Treynor High School in Pottawattamie County and will involve more than 300 people, confirmed Doug Reed, the lead exercise planner for the county’s emergency management agency. Some 30 to 40 “victims” will be transported to area hospitals. He said a terrorism scenario is required by federal officials for the exercise to be eligible for funding.

The exercise scenario describes shootings occurring after rising tensions in the community because of an influx of minorities, Reed said. The newcomers, some who are American citizens and some who are illegal immigrants, were to have moved into a rural area from urban areas in search of more-affordable living. The newcomers are not welcomed by racial extremists, and controversy sweeps the community, he said.

One of the fictional suspects involved in the shootings is described an 18-year-old white male with a quick-tempered father who is a firearms enthusiast with ties to an underground white supremacy group. A second fictional suspect is described as an isolated 17-year-old white male student who was befriended by the older student and who mimics his new friend.

Craig Halverson of Griswold, national director of the Minuteman Patriots, an activist group that opposes illegal immigration, said today he is concerned that the exercise is intended to portray people who legally possess guns and who fight illegal immigration as extremists. Members of his organization, as well as members of the Tea Party Patriots and the 9/12 Project, are calling and emailing Iowa’s elected officials to voice their objections, he said.

“We are trying to get this stopped because all it is doing is building up prejudices by calling people white supremacists and stuff like that,” Halverson said. “We are mad at the government for ignoring illegal immigration, but nobody is going to run out there and start killing people in Iowa or anything like that.”

Robert Ussery of Des Moines, state director of the Iowa Minutemen activist group, said he believes the exercise will defame patriot organization members by depicting t hem as criminals. Ussery is among many members of patriot groups who have read a copy of the exercise plan that has been circulating through email groups.

“Most of the people who break the law and are involved in school shootings don’t quote the Constitution or love their country,” Ussery said. “Most of the people who I am involved with feel that in order to fix the situation we need to change the laws and work lawfully within the system.”

Tim Albrecht, a spokesman for Gov. Terry Branstad, said the plans for Saturday’s event are a local decision using federal funds. “The governor’s office is not involved with this exercise,” he added. Officials at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., didn’t immediately respond today to a request for comment.

Treynor, population 919, is about 16 miles east of Council Bluffs on Iowa Highway 92.

Reed said the exercise is not intended to be political and shouldn’t’ be interpreted as criticizing gun owners or opponents of illegal immigration. The fictitious scenario will not be played out during the exercise and there will be no use of racial slurs, cursing or actual gunplay. Firearms will be used as props, but no ammunition will be used during the event.

“This is purely the backdrop and the setup, if you will, to help create a perception of reality for the responders,” Reed said…

The exercise is intended to help improve the emergency response effort in Pottawattamie County to a crisis situation in the public schools, Reed said, noting that there have many incidents of school shootings nationwide, including the fatal shooting in January of an Omaha, Neb., high school administrator. But to qualify for federal homeland security grant money to help pay for some of the exercise’s costs, a terrorism incident must be part of the exercise, he said.

Simply staging an incident in which a student would shoot someone because they are unhappy over a grade or have an altercation with a teacher doesn’t meet the definition of a terrorism incident, Reed said.

About 42 agencies, including area hospitals, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical teams, government officials, private agencies and others, are scheduled to participate in the exercise.

Kevin Elwood, superintendent of Treynor Community Schools, said today he has received about 30 emails from people throughout the Midwest who have seen plans for the crisis drill and have asked, “What is your school district thinking?”

Elwood said he has been involved in the planning of the exercise for about two months, but the first he learned of the fictitious scenario was Wednesday when copies of the plans were circulated. He noted that a disclaimer on the plan says that details and circumstances of the scenario “reflect no actual conditions, attitudes or current threat assessments in or around Pottawattamie County, the City of Treynor, its citizens or the Treynor Community School District.”

The Treynor public schools have 735 students and less than 1 percent are racial minorities, Elwood said. He added he isn’t aware of any racial tensions or the existence of any local white supremacists.

“It is unfortunate the kind of black cloud that is hanging over this because of the misunderstanding of the scenario that was painted,” Elwood said. “This is not applicable to anything we have intended to portray or utilize as part of the drill. We are not going to have crazy people running around the building shouting inappropriate things. There is no need for that. We wouldn’t condone that.”…

Two years ago, the Iowa National Guard canceled plans for an urban warfare exercise in the western Iowa community of Arcadia after the event became a hotly debated topic nationally on radio talk shows and the Internet. The four-day event would have involved between 90 and 100 combat troops arriving in a convoy with a Blackhawk military helicopter flying overhead. Troops would have gone door-to-door, asking about a suspected arms dealer and conducting searches of homes if property owners volunteered in advance to cooperate.

Dereliction of Duty

The onus should NEVER be on the speaker to pay for security against leftist and/or jihadist thugs who use threatened or actual violence to suppress the freedoms of speech, the press, and assembly.

It is the job of the government to round up, arrest, try, and imprison (or deport) ALL lawbreakers who suppress our freedoms by threatening or committing violent acts, regardless of the religion or ideology espoused by the perpetrators.

Our public safety authorities have completely failed to do their jobs. There is absolutely NO excuse for this!
