At his recent press conference, President Obama bemoaned the comments by Rush Limbaugh about lying media whore, the traumatized Sandra Fluke, and justified his telephone call to her by saying

I called Ms. Fluke is because I thought about my daughters, and one of the things I want them to do as they get older is to engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way.”

Well that’s nice. Of course, when a reporter from the Daily Caller brought up the subject of the foul-mouthed Bill Maher, who has called conservative women far worse for speaking their minds, and asked if he’d be returning Maher’s $1,000,000 campaign contribution, Obama immediately called on CNN’s Jessica Yellin, signaling an end to the press conference. Of course, he didn’t answer the question. He did squeeze in various comments about not knowing what’s in Limbaugh’s heart when he made the apology (which is Obama speak for “he didn’t mean it – wink wink”). Of course, I’d like medical verification to prove that Obama even has a heart before he goes commenting about knowledge of the organ.

So here again, we have Obama talking out of both sides of his mouth. I’m still trying to equate how an incident in 2012, for which the offending party has apologized no less, is going to somehow scar his two darling photo props, er daughters, for life. Seriously? Is anyone even going to be talking about this in a month? Of course, the liberal drive-by media will try to keep the story alive as long as possible, but they’re starting to look silly now that Limbaugh has apologized. The NOW President actually had the temerity to take to the airwaves and say that Limbaugh’s comments were “threatening.” The traumatized Sandra Fluke has been going from microphone to microphone (saving herself the $20 copay to visit her therapist) saying how Limbaugh was trying to silence her. The only way to silence her would involve a trip to Lowe’s for decorator duct tape.

The trouble for the left-wing media is that their own pundits and talk show hosts have been making similar and worse comments about conservative women for the past several years. Jerry Brown’s campaign called his opponent Meg Whitman a whore; Ed Schultz called Laura Ingraham a “slut” (Ed apologized, by the way, and we are all supposed to forget the incident), Jimmy Fallon’s band played “Lyin’ Ass Bitch” as she walked on to his show (Jimmy apologized, by the way, and we are all supposed to forget the incident). I don’t recall sponsors of Schultz’s or Fallon’s show being told to cancel advertising. I don’t recall affiliates being asked not to broadcast Fallon’s show. Schultz was suspended for a week, not fired by MSNBC (whereas Don Imus was).

And lets not forget the use of the term “tea baggers” to refer to those citizens who rallied against the progressive policies of the Democrats (it wasn’t just about Obama – there were as many signs shaking a finger at Pelosi and Reid). It was quite funny to all those liberal MSM stenographers – like it was an inside joke – “we’re calling them something really vulgar but it’s so cute – no one notices.” And our elected officials joined in, sprinkling their tirades against the movement with the term, smiling all the way -”Ooooh, look at us, we’re saying something dirty and those silly rednecks don’t even know. We’re so clever.” By the way, Mr. President – those TEA Party activists were only exercising their right to speak their mind, and in a far less public way than the traumatized Sandra Fluke.

Which brings us to Maher. Maher has called Palin the “T” word and the “C” word (I will not use them because I don’t want to offend President Obama’s daughters and thereby curtail their ability to speak their minds in the future. Maher jokes that he can do so because he’s on HBO and doesn’t have “fucking sponsors.” Okay, but someone take the asshat aside and explain the meaning of the word “subscribers” to him. Because Billy Boy, if people start advising HBO they’re cancelling their subscriptions because of your comments, they’ll be paying out the rest of your contract and firing your misogynist ass. Thanks for playing. Because I seem to recall you had that nifty show on ABC until you opened your mouth and screwed that up for yourself. Let me see….something about terrorists being the real brave souls on 9/11…..

So, Mr. President – what’s it gonna be? Seems to me the lesson your daughters are being taught is this: If you go up to Capitol Hill in front of a fake hearing and speak your mind while in essence asking the taxpayers and/or the Catholic Church to fund your sex life and a conservative talk show host calls you a slut, said talk show host is to be hounded and denegrated, even after he apologizes. However, if you are a former Vice Presidential candidate and express your opinion out in the open and ask nothing of the taxpayers and a liberal talk show host calls you the most vulgar names possible, said talk show host is redeemed if he donates $1,000,000 to your daddy’s campaign coffers and offered a gig to host a fundraiser for you in Atlanta.

As the old joke ends – “we’re just haggling about the price.”
