NFL Wake 9! The Cold Pizza Thread

I have to say I’m a fan of the Papa John’s commercials.  Well, at least the ones that have Peyton Manning in them.  When Papa John foregoes Peyton and does the commericals by hmself, they tend to involve the introduction of a set of ingredients that should not occur in nature.  And remember,  I live in California, where trendy pizza restaurants (don’t ever call them “parlours”) tend to go the “basil and goat cheese” and “artichoke pesto” route.  These are salads.  No need to get a crust and marinana sauce involved.

Well, Papa John got himself into a spot of bother this week when he announced that this whole anthem business was hurting sales and as a big sponsor of the NFL, he was pissed that the NFL leadership hadn’t taken charge of this situation last year when it first started.  Which prompted Judd Legum of Think Progress to immediately tweet that Papa John is a – you guessed it – RAAAAACIST!  Never mind that John Schnatter NEVER once mentioned black athletes.  Which of course immediately prompted all the good little liberals to jump on the bandwagon attacking his character AND his product.  Look I’m a Round Table or Mountain Mike’s girl myself, and always the pepperoni or the combo.  But to disparage him and tell people that Little Ceasar’s is the better pizza?  Okay, your mileage may vary but Jeez – LITTLE CEASAR’S?  Why not just direct them to Cici’s Buffet, where you can enjoy pizza that has been sitting under the hot lights so long that it’s now become an archeological find.

And frankly, libs, most of the country AGREES with Schnatter – maybe not on what should go on a pizza but certainly on that “other thing.”

In the NFL  this week (Byes to the Bears, Browns, Chargers, Vikings, Patriots and Steelers)
Falcons @ Panthers
Colts @ Texans
Bengals @ Jaquars
Bucs @ Saints
Rams @ Giants
Broncos @ Eagles
Ravens @ Titans
Cardinals @ Anthem Ass-Sitters (see if you need more than one hand to count the attendance)
Redskins @ Seahawks
Chiefs @ Dallas
Raiders @ Dolphins

Monday’s Game
Lions @ Packers

Congratulations to the Houston Astros, the World Series winners! Love it when the series takes it to 7 games (I imagine the networks are probably pretty happy about it, too!)

NASCAR is back in Texas for its third-to-last race of the season. Always a good race in Texas, but that’s not surprising because it’s TEXAS!!! Martin Truex maintains a 17 point lead in the points race, but the previously much hated Kyle Busch is closing in. Marriage and fatherhood have been good for Rowdy, who had once held the honor of the driver everyone loved to hate. Truex has never won the championship, so he’s my guy to hoist the trophy.

In the NHL, it’s still a local listing situation.

Redwings @ Oilers
Avalanche @ Islanders
Canadiens @ Blackhawks
Devils @ Flames

In the PGA, the final day round of the Shriners Hospital for Children Open from Las Vegas. Good cause, great golf. It’s a win-win.

In the NBA, looks like the Golden State Warfarts are starting the season rather poorly. That’s what you get for dissing the President and the White House, jerkoffs. And that’s as much as I care about the NBA.

And as always, this is your Sunday open thread to discuss the news the Democrats have tried to keep buried by releasing it on Friday night and over the weekend.   And watch the leaves turn and plan your Thanksgiving menu (it’s never too early to start!).

There are so many great local joints in and around my area I rarely mess around with a national chain.

If I do it’s out of convenience and extreme hunger.

Agreed. Some of the best tasting pizzas I’ve had have been from local Mom-&-Pop restaurants. For example: http://www.sirgs.com/ and http://gobuylocal.com/offerseo/River-Falls-WI/Luigi%27s-Pizza/3993/1119

Schatter also got ridiculed by various talking heads on MSNBS and several others. They said that there has been “no impact” on attendance due to the protests and his business loss was “entirely his fault”.

Of course, what is going unmentioned is that there is a call to BOYCOTT companies that advertise during NFL games. Prominent among those are Papa John’s and Budweiser. I haven’t heard anything about Budweiser sales in recent weeks but I did hear rumblings there had been a decline in the first weeks of “Kneel-a-thon.”

1- Since only 8 million people have Obama-Care, how will 24 million people die if it is repealed? Will 16 million people be randomly shot?
2- If Donald Trump deleted all of his emails, wiped his server with Bleachbit and destroyed all of his phones with a hammer, would the Mainstream Media suddenly lose all interest in the story and declare him innocent?

Recall the non compliant ambassadors, carpet them and demand that they answer why they refused to show the current President’s photograph. Anyone objecting is immediately asked for their resignation before they leave the building.

It really is that simple folks.

The old boy network of appointing political ambassedores has reached breaking point. Do as your told or resign. Political appointees are expected to tender their resignations whenever there is a change in government. Professional Department of State ambassadors are expected to follow orders or tender their resignations if they feel that they can’t.

    @ eaglesoars:
It’s suddenly ‘unhealthy’ to be a Saudi Prince it seems. Still they have plenty of ‘spares’. Almost 3200 of them!

The House of Saud has been living on borrowed time for at least 50 years by paying the Arab version of ‘Danegeld’ to the resident ‘Wahabbist head hackers’ and it’s all getting a bit ‘old’!

That and the reality that the House of Saud has totally failed to make the transition from a traditional Arabist society to a technical industrialised one while their oil money held out. Ironically it was the House of Saud’s policy of spending their fresh ‘historical water’ reserves in a spendthrift manner that totally scuppered their efforts to industrialise what is a tribal society. Frankly moving from tribalism to industrialised technology is a massive ask in itself without the total mismanagement of what water they had.

The fresh water mountain cisterns hold water that is about 400 years old. It takes 350-400 years for these cisterns to fill from empty. There are only 23% left and they will be dry in a decade at the current rate of usage. That doesn’t mean that the Saudi population will have nothing to drink as desalination will cover that. BUT it means that Saudi industry is ‘still born’ as there just isn’t the water available to industry no matter how much oil $$$ are now thrown at the problem.

New base load Energy Technology not to mention electric vehicle technologies are advancing at a rate now that will put a serious dent in oil demand, forcing prices even lower just as the Saudis need a LOT of money to industrialise only to find that their main source of fresh water for industry is dry.

Eat their sand and drink their oil……. indeed!

    🙂

(Wow, the comments section of zerohedge is plagued with anti-israel scum).

The al Houthis have been getting ‘cast off’ weapons from the Iranians for years. It’s known that they have a few clapped out SCUDs that are only ‘area weapons’ and notorious for their inaccuracy. Hence ‘aiming’ at a LARGE target like an airfield and still missing the infrastructure and simply making a hole in the dirt. They also have some MANPADS that can make mincemeat of slow moving helicopters, especially ones that have questionable anti-infrared missile self protection suites. Because these bozos were following the border closely (you can even see the border road and power lines from the helicopter window) and REPEATEDLY over several days. All the al Houthis had to do is lay in ambush and await the return of the low level flying helicopter and shoot it down with a MANPAD. The morons who didn’t do their jobs by varying the flight paths and ensuring that there was a jamming/ IR self protection suite aboard should be asked some serious questions.

Still given the hot-house of intrigue, that is the Saudi Royal Court this could even be a ‘home goal’ attack by a rival prince. Who knows.

    🙂

Devin Patrick Kelley has been identified as the gunman who killed at least 24 people at a church in Texas, a U.S. official tells The Daily Beast. Kelley, 26, was a resident of New Braunfels, a suburb of San Antonio, according to public records. Kelley was married and Kelley’s mother-in-law listed a P.O. box in Sutherland Springs as a mailing address. San Antonio police reportedly raided Kelley’s home on Sunday evening. A LinkedIn account appearing to belong to Kelley describes him as serving in the U.S. Air Force from his 2009 high-school graduation until 2013, after which he briefly taught at a summer Bible school. On a now-deleted Facebook account, Kelley recently displayed an AR-15 style gun, ABC News reports.

A DD is nearly impossible to get in the AF. You have to do something major. 90% of criminal discharges are honorable, “other than honorable”, bad conduct, or general. So, this is a pretty big indicator there was something major going on. You are also barred from possessing Title 2 firearms.

There are different types of court martial. The only one that can impose a dishonorable discharge is a General Court Martial.

It’s possible to get a less than honorable discharge from a Special Court Martial.

    Types of Military Court-Martial
There are three types of courts-martial: summary, special, and general.

Summary Court-Martial. Trial by summary court-martial provides a simplified procedure for the resolution of charges involving minor incidents of misconduct. The summary court-martial consists of one officer who, depending upon Service policies and practice, is a judge advocate (a military attorney). The maximum punishment a summary court-martial may impose is considerably less than a special or general court-martial. The accused must consent to be tried by a summary court-martial.

Special Court-Martial. A special court-martial is the intermediate court level. It consists of a military judge, trial counsel (prosecutor), defense counsel, and a minimum of three officers sitting as a panel of court members or jury. An enlisted accused may request a court composed of at least one-third enlisted personnel. An accused, officer or enlisted, may also request trial by judge alone. Regardless of the offenses involved, a special court-martial sentence is limited to no more than twelve months confinement (or a lesser amount if the offenses have a lower maximum), forfeiture of two-third’s basic pay per month for six months, a bad-conduct discharge (for enlisted personnel), and certain lesser punishments. An officer accused in a special court-martial cannot be dismissed from the service or confined.

General Court-Martial. A general court-martial is the most serious level of military courts. It consists of a military judge, trial counsel, defense counsel, and at least five court members. Again, an enlisted accused may request a court composed of at least one-third enlisted personnel. Unless the case is one in which the death sentence could be adjudged, an officer or enlisted accused may also request trial by judge alone. In a general court-martial, the maximum punishment is that established for each offense under the Manual for Courts-Martial, and may include death (for certain offenses), confinement, a dishonorable or bad-conduct discharge for enlisted personnel, a dismissal for officers, or a number of other lesser forms of punishment. A pretrial investigation under Article 32, UCMJ, must be conducted before a case may be referred to a general court-martial, unless waived by the accused.

Yeah, the fact that his facebook vanished within something like an hour was really fishy to me. It means either the authorities shut it down, facebook shut it down, or he had someone do it for him. As someone who unsuccessfully tried for months to shut down his deceased fathers facebook account, I can tell you it probably was not number 3.

That one’s a little trickier. A BCD, in and of itself, doesn’t disqualify someone from owning a gun. Neither does a conviction under Article 128 of the UCMJ (Assault). In his case, it was actually domestic violence, which does disqualify him, but if it wasn’t entered correctly into the system, it wouldn’t have been picked up by NICS. The reason his conviction was for assault is that there isn’t a specific UCMJ article for domestic violence.

If there’s no specific UCMJ article for domestic violence, how could it have been ‘correctly’ entered into the system? It would have just shown assault?

NICS draws from multiple databases, including NCIC. It would have to be entered manually as a DV case, so that it would show the disqualifier.

    http://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Saudi-Arabia-says-Lebanon-has-declared-war-on-it-513547

Saudi Arabia said on Monday that Lebanon had declared war against it because of attacks against the Kingdom by the Lebanese Shi’ite group Hezbollah.

Saudi Gulf affairs minister Thamer al-Sabhan told Al-Arabiya TV that Saad al-Hariri, who announced his resignation as Lebanon’s prime minister on Saturday, had been told that acts of “aggression” by Hezbollah “were considered acts of a declaration of war against Saudi Arabia by Lebanon and by the Lebanese Party of the Devil.”

Bob Kraft is the owner of the Patriots. While owners are all supposed to be First Among Equals, Kraft and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones are probably the heaviest hitters in the owner stable.

Bob McNair, owner of the Texans, is the one who made the “inmates” remark – which was Jesse Jackson’s cue to figure out how to bestow absolution in order to get himself some shakedown bucks.

…. with plenty of justification as well. Iran has been increasingly supporting the Shi’a aligned sect that underpins the al Houthi for years. There has been an uptick in that support over the last year as the al Houthi have fought the Saudi backed government of Yemen forces to a standstill. Neither the al Houthi nor the Yemeni government forces are strong enough, even with their various backers, to achieve a decisive victory. The over stretch of al Houthi forces in and around the major southern port city of Aden made that quite clear. Once the battle lines moved back towards the fertile mountains in the NW, the al Houthi homeland, the al Houthi lines of communications shortened as the Yemeni government forces extended and we now have stalemate once more. The front lines roughly trace the original tribal , political and religious boundaries of the old states of North Yemen and South Yemen, with the current capital of Saana right on the frontlines. Saana never was the capital of South Yemen. That was always Aden, and Saana wasn’t the capital historically of North Yemen either as that was located deep in the NW mountains. Saana was just the largest commercial city in the country.

The US had better be careful that it picks the right side, that is NO SIDE in this developing punch up. Not one drop of US blood should be shed for these 7th Century tribalists in Gucci finery. Wahabbist Saudis vs. Shi’a Revolutionary Guards……. come on anybody, and covertly supply BOTH sides, charge them heaps, and watch them destroy each other in a re-run of the Iraqi – Iranian war but on well financed steroids !

That’s correct and the double garage, joining workshop, office and small kitchen are almost as large as the house footprint. Going to upgrade that as an overflow sleep-out for junior ankle-biters as well as upgrading the workshop / double garage area. It also gives a chance of renting it out to pay for the rates and utilities. The group of houses in the bay do have a shared water supply from a spring so water costs just $80 a year each in a maintenance fund. Thinking of getting off-grid as well as $20 k gets you totally off grid down under now. The garden is hardly capable of providing but we can play with hydroponics as we have unlimited water so that is a possibility.

In the aerial shot of the total property and surrounding homes there is a house with a white roof almost directly behind our property with return varandahs and a pitched roof line with embedded in roof accommodation upstairs and a deck. It is at 45 degrees to the orientation. That is the type of overall roofline upgrade that I’m contemplating. Time will tell.

I’d really like a section op North at Tutukaka on the East coast just south of the town that runs up against the rocks separating XXX Island. Enough room to feed ourselves well and totally off grid but within spitting distance of all amenities and good restruants in Tutukaka itself at the large marina. Now THAT is a great site. The Poor Knights Marine Reserve (One of the top 10 dive site in the world) is just 17 Km off the coast. You have to beat the fish away from your boat when fishing just outside the Reserve.

    🙂

Actually at the Knights when trying to do underwater photography you ACTUALLY have to push 3 Kg sized Snapper out of the way to get a good shot! Seriously !

Still the Firth of Thames is also one of the best fishing spots i the country as the mussel and oyster farms attract huge numbers of fish and the marine farmers love boats mooring by their lines to catch the fish that are also harvesting their open water farmed seafood.

    🙂

Yup me too.If you have water power and space and smarts enough to keep yourself and family members fed and housed then what more do you need seriously? … except access to mucho fish stocks… that fortunately do come with the territory.

There is a good hospital in Thames township just 10 minutes away. It’s an old gold mining town with a brace of magnificent old stone building from the ‘glory days’ and it’s regenerating as folks move out of the cities and back into the hinterland as technology now allows.

Breaking out the dehydrator and unpacking the preserving jars. There are local market days every weekend where all the locals bring their fresh home produce to sell and swap. Cheese Heaven is just down the road about 15 minutes away and a mate who is currently a Prof at Hong kong University (he’s married to a Chinese lady). He’s the ex SAS Sword Troop Commander I told you about. He raises cattle beasts and grazes replacement calves for a dairying family with 5 family farms. We can tap into his ‘home-kill’ network for our bulk lamb and beef bulk needs and his farm backs onto the Coromandle Forest park at the top of a pretty valley that is full of wild boar. Better break out the .308 and oil it up! His place is over run with pheasants as well and we might volunteer to do a little judicious ‘culling’

    @ eaglesoars:
It’s Melbourne Cup Day with warm fine partly cloudy conditions and a fast track.

The Melbourne Cup : The horse race that STOPS two nations. Literally. Traffic stops and folks listen and watch the race. Flemington Racecourse is packed with the socialites in their finery and offices run ‘sweeps’ where you randomly draw a horse after putting in your $5-10 bucks into the Pot. Even school kids covertly run sweeps at schools even though the teachers officially object it is with a wink and a nod!

Melbourne and indeed the State of Victoria has an official holiday for Cup Day. 24 runners down to 23 with ‘Who-ShottheBarman (NZ) scratched. Lots of Irish and Continental horses running the 2 miles. Kiwi horse Humidor is the current equal favourite paying $9.50 , with the German horse Almandin and the Brit pony Marmelo.

Still it’s the Melbourne Cup and ANYTHING can happen and often does.

Folks who never bet always have a wee flutter with a couple of bucks on Melbourne Cup Day. This is a race that actually Stops Two Nations in their tracks for a few minutes.

It’s Melbourne Cup Day ‘down under’ . Summer can’t be far away!

Nope but that’s not unusual as I really only have a flutter on one race each year.

    🙂

There is an Irish horse in the race at Flemington today named ‘U.S. Army Ranger’ a 5 year old stallion, but that as close to the US we get I’m afraid !

    🙂

The Irish are grossly over represented however with 8 horses out of the field of 23. The Brits have 5 runners and the French have 2 , Germans have 1 and the Kiwis fields 2 but one was scratched and the Aussies have 4 stayers running. The Irish are going for volume and hoping that statistics are on their side. Actually Irish stayers are extremely high quality and all deserve to be in a Class One Race

Reading a guy on twitter Imperator_Rex3 who explains how/why Canada had to be an integral part of the Uranium One deal. There is no Canadian law requiring charities to keep a list of donors. There is a Canadian charity ‘CGEP’ tiru to the Clinton Foundation. The only item that would show on the CF’s books would be the CGEP charity, w/no visibility to the uranium company. It’s an interesting read, and if this guy is right, the trial will indeed, as he says, like Nuremberg.

This is beyond sweet. David Boies, who you may recall rep’d Al Gore in that really strange election awhile back, seems to have engaged on some serious conflict-of-interest webs and is now looking at disbarrment threats. He rep’d Harvey Weinstein in undercover ops to prevent publications of damaging articles in places like the NYT, while simultaneously repping the NYT in other matters.

    The NYT wants his head.

“We learned today that the law firm of Boies Schiller and Flexner secretly worked to stop our reporting on Harvey Weinstein at the same time as the firm’s lawyers were representing us in other matters,” the statement read. “We consider this intolerable conduct, a grave betrayal of trust, and a breach of the basic professional standards that all lawyers are required to observe. It is inexcusable and we will be pursuing appropriate remedies.”

CIA Director Met Advocate of Disputed DNC Hack Theory — at Trump’s Request

CIA Director Mike Pompeo met late last month with a former U.S. intelligence official who has become an advocate for a disputed theory that the theft of the Democratic National Committee’s emails during the 2016 presidential campaign was an inside job, rather than a hack by Russian intelligence.

Pompeo met on October 24 with William Binney, a former National Security Agency official-turned-whistleblower who co-authored an analysis published by a group of former intelligence officials that challenges the U.S. intelligence community’s official assessment that Russian intelligence was behind last year’s theft of data from DNC computers. Binney and the other former officials argue that the DNC data was “leaked,” not hacked, “by a person with physical access” to the DNC’s computer system.

A bit of background. Binney is an NSA whistleblower who was featured in the PBS doc “The United States of Secrets” which was a thread here. The reason Binney et. al. insist there was no hack is because the transmission rate of data transfer was too fast to have taken place over the net – it was from a drive. That means it was an inside job.

Oh, and just a random item of interest – word is Donna Brazile dedicated her book to Seth Rich. Haven’t confirmed.

    MUSICIAN ALERT!!!

A Hard Day’s Night: Solving a Beatles mystery with mathematics

It’s probably the most recognisable sound in popular music.

“This is the one chord that everyone around the world knows,” says Randy Bachman, a rock star in his own right from The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive.

It dates to July 1964 — the height of Beatlemania. The band was about to release its third album.

For the first time, it was all original music. Plus, the Beatles were shifting away from their rock ‘n’ roll roots to a more poppy sound, and this album was to be the soundtrack for their first feature film.

They needed to make a statement.

After a lot of experimentation, the band come up with a wondrous, jangling cacophony of sound: the opening chord to the song, album, and film A Hard Day’s Night….for decades, no-one could figure out exactly how those two seconds of music were made.

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said Friday that he instructed the campaign’s legal team to conduct the opposition research that led to the infamous anti-Trump dossier.

In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Mook also suggested that he and others on the campaign were briefed on some of the findings in the dossier, which was compiled by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele.

Mook did say that he was not aware that Steele was involved in the opposition research.

Well, not appeal. We have a rather interesting way of getting around it. We call it a “Motion for Judgment Notwithstanding the Verdict” (Motion JNOV). It basically says “Judge, you gotta step in here – these asshats were too dumb to get it right.”

Unfortunately it only works in CIVIL cases. In criminal cases, jeopardy attaches. Unless there are some state charges that can be brought against Menendez, if they acquit, he skates.

However, I have not heard the extent of counts against him (how many total) and the charge to the jury. If, for instance, he had 19 or 20 counts, the jury has to consider EACH count and render a verdict separately. It can be a frigging nightmare.

I really believe he thought he was going to end his career as Secretary of Defense for the Beast, where he would have “gracefully” (cough-hack) resigned after a year or 18 months “for health reason” but where he could also have gotten massive amounts of input from a plethora of advisors and staff and sent a spokesperson out. Sure he ran for re-election but I think up until 9:00 on election night he didn’t believe he was going to have to actually serve another term in the Senate. Plus he would play “power broker” in the appointment of his so-called successor to serve (I don’t know Arizona’s laws on special elections).

I also believe that he knew at the time of the election that his health was seriously failing and did not reveal it to the voters. Yes, the announcement was last July but I’m not buying it. Like I said, he was planning to “leave” office as a cabinet member for Beastie so a reveal after about a year or so would garner sympathy and he’d leave public service “on top”.

It’s really fun when they have 17 counts, some of which are classified as SVO (serious violent offenses) and some are not. And then the genius judge gets creative and decides Counts 1, 6, and 12 will run consecutively, and 2 through 5 will be consecutive to each other but concurrent to count 1. And then decides to suspend all but 4 years.

First openly transgender state legislator elected in Virginia

Virginia House of Delegates candidate Danica Roem (D) has defeated longtime Del. Robert Marshall (R), becoming Virginia’s first openly transgender elected official and one of just few in the nation, according to The Washington Post.

“Danica will bring a reporter’s eye to Richmond, and we eagerly anticipate her results-oriented approach to deliver for her constituents in the 13th,” Virginia House Democratic Caucus Leader David J. Toscano and Caucus Chair Charniele Herring said in a statement.

“As a journalist, Danica Roem has covered the issues critical to Virginians and listened to a wide range of perspectives. During her campaign, Danica expanded this approach by listening to area residents’ concerns and making them integral to her own policy platform,” they added.

LGBTQ advocates hailed the victory on Tuesday evening, with the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) calling it “a clear warning to anti-equality lawmakers across the country.”

“HRC was proud to mobilize voters to support Danica Roem’s trailblazing candidacy, and we look forward to working with her to help continue moving equality forward in Virginia,” HRC president Chad Griffin said in a statement.

Latino Victory Fund: We’ll Double Down On Controversial Ad Strategy After Virginia Win

With Democrat Ralph Northam winning Virginia’s fiercely competitive governor’s race Tuesday night, you would think that would mean a sigh of relief for the Latino group that inserted itself into the last week of the campaign, drawing harsh criticism over an ad that showed a pickup truck with a Confederate flag and a bumper sticker for Republican Ed Gillespie chasing down minority children.

But Latino Victory Fund, which briefly ran the ad early last week, says it will instead double down on its strategy.

The group, which works to elect Democrats, argues that this type of messaging campaign serves to defend the Latino community against ads like one from Gillespie that highlighted the danger posed by MS-13 gang members, which the group said promotes suspicion of Hispanics at large.

Where others saw a mistake from the group and said the ad cast all Gillespie supporters and Republicans as racist, Latino Victory Fund says the outrage just boiled down to crocodile tears from bullies that were finally hit back, echoing what Democratic Party chair Tom Perez said on “Meet The Press.” Officials for the group said they were preparing an op-ed before the Virginia election results were known for later this week that would have laid out this strategy regardless of who won the race, BuzzFeed News learned.

if you look at the 2016 Prez numbers, Trump got 1.77 mil, Hillary got 2.0 (both rounded up)

tonite, Gillespie got 1.08 mil, Northam got 1.3 mil

so it’s nonsensical to say – as some are – that if Gillespie had gone ‘more Trump’, he would have picked up those 700k votes Trump got, because Northam missed the Hillary total by the same amt.

Turnout today was less than HALF the pres election – the weather was truly horrid all day,state-wide, cold driving rain, and nobody is mentioning the weather for the first time in my memory.

I don’t think the story is the Governors race. I think it’s the down ballot races. In my district the Dem incumbent ran unopposed, so that’s a wash. But it looks like we’ve lost the R majority in the House of Delegates. THAT’s going to hurt.

Oh, abso-effing-lutely. You only have so many peremptory challenges. If the prosecutor used them up before they got to this clown, he could only reject this guy for cause. Unfortunately, advising the court that “this guy is dumber than dirt” isn’t “cause”.

We laughed our asses off one day when the plaintiff’s lawyer, who had five peremptories, used them up booting five of the initially seated 12 who didn’t have a lot of faith in chiropractors as the sole medical testimony. Well, he was stuck because afterward, more jurors were seated that said they would never use a chiropractor. He tried to excuse them for cause and the judge said “No, I see no cause in this.” So we literally had more than half the jury not believing in chiropractors. Needless to say, we won.

What is becoming increasingly alarming to me listening to the Uber-libs (and these are EDUCATED Uber-libs) in my office is how they are absolutely wedded to the information they get from the New York Times, CNN and MSNBC. I walk into any of their offices and they have the home page of either NYT or WaPo up on their second screen.

They go with “Trump is bigoted” and I just stare at them – “so why was he the first golf course owner to welcome Blacks and Jews to his club at Mar-a-Lago. They refuse to believe it. I simply say “Google it. All you have to do.” Never hear a peep about it afterward – I’ll assume they did and don’t want to admit it.

It goes without saying I wasn’t the biggest Trump supporter but Geez Loo-eez, the media is batshit crazy on this.
