Academics have demanded career breaks so they can save the planet from climate change as they warn that “humanity is on a precipice”.
Over 700 British professors and lecturers have signed an open letter to vice-Chancellors and research funding chiefs warning that “the very future of life on earth is in question” if “climate breakdown” is not addressed.
Since universities are the “bastions of wisdom and knowledge”, the academics say that their services are urgently needed to combat the “climate crisis”. Writing in the journal Science, British researchers likened the field of climate science to military service or law enforcement and called on universities to adopt similar strategies to deal with emotional distress.

Yes, my wife and I moved out of a mixed race neighborhood. The area was, unfortunately, going downhill. Hearing gunfire, having my car’s window shot, having another round put into the body of the car, having somebody threw a rock through our front window, and having a guy stop his car in the middle of the street, get out, and urinate in the middle of the street made us decide it was time to move.
I don’t care what color the people responsible for these things was. It’s time to move.
