Many Democrats have switched to the Republican Party over the last few decades, some switched when they had epiphanies, realizing that they never really held liberal ideals at all or re-examined their beliefs and found they had been aligned with the wrong side, having been duped in their youth by Progressive propaganda. Folks like Ronald Reagan and David Horowitz are examples of the above types. Some switched when they realized that the Democrat Party no longer welcomed their beliefs. Many have switched for purely mercenary reasons, in that they saw the political landscape moving to the right and being career politicians, only wanted to hold on to political power and keep their snouts firmly planted in the pork, lobbyist, and donor money trough.

There is a local County near me, where 7 county officials switched parties at the same time.

Now whether these folks truly switched out of principal or just blatantly stole Zell Miller’s famous line, to fool their constituents, is an issue for the voters to decide.

The only way to truly tell is to watch their actions. Do they mouth conservative ideals but vote and govern like Liberals. It’s easy to say you are working for the people who elected you, but what does it say when you surreptitiously push through agendas that are the anti-thesis of their beliefs? For instance, it’s easy to spout off about the need for a secure border but what does it say when you vote for or push in-state tuition for illegals? It’s easy to talk about the rights of property owners, but what does it really say when you push to use eminent domain to take peoples property for unpopular government or development projects?

For example, my birth place, Austin, Texas has been overrun by California Liberals. Many moved from Silicon Valley, during the technology boom, to escape the high property costs, high taxes and the inevitable damage create by Liberal policies. Unfortunately they learned nothing from the California experiences and have ceaselessly been pushing for the very same policies that have damaged California. Their rational is, “It just wasn’t done right in California, this time it will work.” Typical Liberal rhetoric, blame the implementation instead of admitting that the ideology itself is unworkable.

So laugh all you want at so called ‘purity’ tests, the fact is, the Marxists/Communists have taken over the Democrat Party. Possibly, if the Democrat Party had had a form of ‘purity’ test, they wouldn’t be in the condition they are now in. The CPUSA openly admits that their platform is identical to that of the Obama Administration. Do you not think that they are and have been trying to infiltrate and take over the Republican Party too? The Marxist goal is to control both parties, then and only then can they push through their policies with impunity and outlaw dissent in the process.

This country needs two viable Parties to operate, we don’t currently have that. If you don’t agree with most of the Republican platform, maybe you need to go back to the Democrat Party and help wrest control of it away from the infiltrators who stole it from you. Don’t try to remake it, like the Liberals did to Austin and are still trying to do to the rest of Texas. After you help us get rid of Obama, that is.

As a life long Conservative, I don’t give my trust any politician, they have to earn it and work to keep it. I haven’t made any decision on which candidate to support in the primaries or which candidate to not support, it’s way too early yet. I want to see more debates and learn more about each person, the good and bad. There is no perfect candidate, never has been. In the end, I’ll go with the one who best reflects my beliefs and ideology.
