Blogmocracy in Action

Guest Post by: Doriangrey

On Friday, June 8th 2012 many Conservative bloggers are encouraging the conservative blogging community to have a day of silence in support of Arron Walker and the other victims of Brett Kimberlin and those responsible for Conservative Blogger SWAT’ing. Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but, isn’t getting the conservative blogging community to shut the hell up the entire point behind Brett Kimberlin and the whole SWAT’ing concept?

Now, perhaps I’m not the smartest Blogger on the planet, but can someone please explain to me, how surrendering even for an hour to the demands of thugs like Kimberlin or those responsible for SWAT’ing constitutes a victory in any stretch of the imagination? Somebody care to remind me exactly how well the whole surrender appeasement thing worked out for Neville Chamberlain? Or anyone one else for that matter?

I mean, ok, if you are a bank robber, and you’re holed up in the bank with a bunch of hostages, and every damned cop in the world is outside just praying for a chance to fill you full of lead, then yeah, surrendering just might be a good option, but it also means you lose. While losing is definitely better than dying, when the stakes are not life and death, surrendering really is a pretty stupid idea.

Sorry Ace, a day of silence really does rate up there pretty high on the scale of stupid responses to people who are trying to get you to shut the hell up. Like I said before, I might not be the smartest blogger on the planet, but this is really pretty much of a no brainer. Hell no I will not be silent seems to me to be the correct response. But hey, that’s just me, somebody once rather indigently asked me if I minded, I responded then, just as I do now, “Not very well or very often”.

I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone in the conservative blogosphere who wishes to show their support for Aaron Walker or any of the other victims of Brett Kimberlin and the thugs that are supporting and helping him. If you feel that a day of silence is the right thing to do, knock yourself out. As for me, I will not go quietly into the night, not for one day, not even for one hour.

If you have read my blog before you know I don’t update it with any predictable regularity, I write when I see something that I think is important to speak out about. Thugs and criminals trying to crush the first amendment rights of individuals whom they do not agree with seems to me to be pretty high on the list of things that are important to speak out about.

Kudos to everyone out there who has taken the risk of covering this story, because as Arron Walker, Patterico, Erick Erickson, and Robert Stacy McCain can all testify from first hand expereince, blogging about Brett Kimberlin and his thug pals is anything but safe or comfortable.

OK, it’s time to test what everybody has learned here so far…

This is? OK, see how many of the following you can correctly identify.

What Is Dorian Up To Now? Rat Rod Edition!

From Dorian:

Contrary to common misconception Rat Rods are anything but hastily assembled junkers, nor are they always painted in basic primer with shot-out upholstery.  They come in many varieties from those looking like rusting buckets that would fall apart if you tried to drive them to being almost indistinguishable from the “Classic Hot Rod’s” of the 40’s and 50’s.

What typically signifies the distinction of Rat Rod’s is the meticulous attention to detail in the cars construction, oh and the term Rat Rod can pretty much be attributed to Ed “Big Daddy” Roth who was a custom car pin-stripper and painter out here in California during the 60’s and 70’s.  The engines have thousands to tens of thousands of dollars in them and are nearly as customs as the car bodies. The bodies and suspensions are cut, slammed, raked and assembled to fit specific Rat Rod profiles.

The following are pictures of one of my partners 1937 Ford Pick-up, and yes, it has been cut, chopped, slammed and raked. The truck is called “Lucky 13” it’s my partners 13th vehicle he has made. Eventually I will get around to posting pictures of the other vehicles that “Flat Ass Broke Racing” is working on.

Terms:

Cut: means to cut the vehicles frame adding and subtracting tubing to change it’s physical geometry.

Chopped: means to lower the roof height and put smaller widows in it.

Slammed: means to lower the suspension so that the vehicles body is closer to the ground.

Raked: means to stretch the vehicles body length.

What is Dorian up to now? Dorian pulls the curtain aside to expose the man behind the curtain

OK, so up until this point I have been showing you the physical progress in the build of this car. Today, I am pulling the curtains aside and showing you some of what has been going on in the background. Not that I think anyone really has any misconception about what we are doing, but I thought you might find it interesting to see the mathematics that have and are going into this car.

This car is technically speaking a frame off tube chassy  fuel none modified dragster.

When we started building the tube chassy these are the calculations we went through to determine how the tube chassy was to be constructed.

Weight Distribution

Percentage of weight on wheels=  ——————————

———————————————————————————
Distance raised X Overall weightThere are a lot more of these equations, for Drive wheel torque, Wheel thrust, Weight transfer, and Lateral Acceleration Lateral weight transfer and Centrifugal Force.  These cover the frame and the positioning of the rear-end.

In the next Installment I will go into the calculations used to build the engine itself, I’d give you those equations now, but the engine is currently at Larry Holt Speed Specialties (Larry Holt is a famous 60’s and 70’s drag racer you will find his record listed here at # 201 of the  All-Time Quickest Supercharged Gassers   http://www.draglist.com/lists/gasq32.txt)

Larry Holt passed away last year, but his son and grandson are keeping the tradition alive and well here in San Diego California. Part of the tradition they are keeping alive is well, basically checking my math to ensure that I used all the correct equations on the build of this engine, which is why I am not giving you those equations just yet.

Yes, we have all of our equations checked and verified by seasoned professionals in the drag racing industry before we build based on them, and checked again afterwards to ensure that what we built conforms to those equations.
