Al-Nusra Front and Free Syrian Army joint operation captures huge weapons depot

The Syrian War continues ups and downs. Assad’s frocs now composed mostly of Hezbollah, Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Iraqis and Houthi Yemenites have made some advances in the southern Suburbs of Damascus against the Free Syrian Army. Meanwhile, about 100 miles to the north in Homs, al-Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army in a complicated operation seized a huge weapons depots that includes Missiles, anti-tank weapons and other munitions.

BEIRUT/AMMAN: Forces loyal to President Bashar Assad fought rebels in a small town 100 km north of Damascus Thursday after video footage showed the opposition captured a huge weapons cache.

The looting of hundreds of weapons in the town of Mahin will aid rebels who are based there, halfway between the capital and Homs, two cities where the opposition has tried to take territory during the civil war.

[….]

Eliot Higgins, a U.K.-based researcher who trawls daily through online videos of Syria’s civil war and verifies weapons in them, said he had not seen a “big ammo cache like this for several months.”

He said that in addition to mortar bombs, artillery and tank ammunition, the size and length of some of the boxes in one video posted online by rebels indicated there were rockets.

“This will help [the rebels’] war efforts. In that one room there is a very significant amount but, depending on the intensity of the of the fighting, they could burn through these in a couple of weeks,” he said.

According to some Nusra sources the cache consisted of:
10,000 grad rockets10,000 107mm rockets

20,000 120mm mortar shells

10,000 tank shells

“Thousands” of RPG rockets and AA (presumably 23mm/14.5) rounds

“Millions” of 7.62×39 and 7.62×54 bullets

4,000 Konkurs ATGMs

“Tens of thousands” of 130mm shells

4 million litres of diesel fuel.

If the amount captured is correct, then this will give a significant boost to Nusra and the FSA. Al-Qaeda (ISIS) was kept out of the operation as Nusra and the FSA no longer trust them. Al-Qaeda is also too busy getting it’s asses handed to them by the Kurdish PKK in North Eastern Syria.
This is the patten of the Syrian War, Assad makes gains in one theater only to have the rebels make gains elsewhere. AT the end of the day, humanity wins as the forces of evil consume themselves.
Here is a video of the captured weapons depots. Warning, some graphic images.

What goes around, comes around: 48 Iranians held hostage by the FSA

In 1979 Iran took the American Embassy hostage. Then they sponsored Hizb’Allah’s kidnapping of Americans in Lebanon in the 80’s. Now in an ironic turn about, 48 Iranians are being held by the Muslim Brotherhood/al-Qaeda affiliated Free Syrian Army. The Syrian Jihadists claim they are members of the terror sponsoring Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

Syrian rebels said a group of people captured near Damascus included members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, as fighting raged outside the capital and in Aleppo, according to a video broadcast by Al Arabiya.

The claim conflicted with Iranian descriptions of the abducted people as pilgrims. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi urged Turkey and Qatar, two countries that have backed the Syrian opposition, to help release the group, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. The agency said that 48 pilgrims were abducted.

The video broadcast by Al Arabiya television showed the Iranians sitting under a flag of the rebel Free Syria Army and surrounded by men carrying weapons. One rebel officer, who wasn’t identified, said several of the Iranians belonged to the Revolutionary Guard. The authenticity of the video couldn’t be confirmed.

Shiite Muslim-led Iran has been one of the few regional allies of President Bashar al-Assad’s government, which is dominated by officials from the Alawite sect, affiliated with Shiite Islam. Turkey and Qatar, two largely Sunni Muslim states, have backed the opposition. The rebels are largely drawn from the Sunni majority.

What goes around comes around. Iran is getting a taste of its own medicine. The Middle East is self destructing and I, for one, could not be happier!

Iran 9/11 connection

Personally, I’ve always suspected Iran had a hand in 9/11. Some of the hijackers made their way through Iran and stayed in Germany in a Hizb’Allah safe house. Let’s not forget that AL-Qaeda, Iranian Revolutionary Guards and Hizb’Allah fought side by side against Serbia. Despite evidence of the AL-Qaeda/Iran ties, many experts still deny any alliance.

The 9/11 Commission did uncover evidence that Iran and Hizb’Allah were aware and even possible involved in the 9/11 plot. For whatever reasons, the US government has downplayed this finding. The reasons are unknown, but Iran is never held to account for any of it’s actions, until now. A federal lawsuit brought by families of 9/11 victims has evidence showing Iran’s complicity in 9/11.

A new lawsuit raises the possibility of Tehran’s complicity in al Qaeda’s infamous attacks. Philip Shenon reports fresh details on who will testify—and the mysteries they could unlock.

With the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks looming, a federal lawsuit in Manhattan offers the possibility of resolving a central mystery about the attacks: Was Iran involved?

[….]

The suit, brought in the United States District Court in Manhattan on behalf of the families of dozens of 9/11 victims, is promising testimony from three Iranian defectors, all of them identified as former members of Iran’s central spy agency, who will implicate Iran and its terrorist proxies in Lebanon in the Sept. 11 attacks.

[….]

The report said the commission had uncovered evidence that as many as 10 of the 14 Saudi terrorists who were aboard the hijacked planes had traveled in and out of Iran between October 2000 and February 2001 and that Iranian border agent had been told not to place “telltale stamps” in the terrorists’ passports, easing their travels.

There was also circumstantial evidence to show that senior officials of Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist organization in Lebanon, were “closely tracking the travel” of a number of the hijackers in and out of Iran in 2000, the report said.

To be honest, I always had a gut feeling Iran and Hizb’Allah was involved in 9/11. In 1996, AL-Qaeda and Hizb’Allah with assistance of Iran carried out the Khobar Tower bombings. There was already a working relationship between these organizations, why would it not extend to 9/11?

What I want to know is, why didn’t the US government follow up the commission’s finding? Iran was already by then assisting in killing American troops in Iraq. As always with Iran, we did nothing. Had we followed up on these links and prove Iran was involved in 9/11, we would be justified in a retaliatory military action. The Bush administration dropped the ball on this one, for reasons not know, but I have my suspicions. The regime of Barack Hussein Obama will do nothing since they view Ayatollah Iran as a 3rd World Liberation regime. If true and confirmed, Iran has gotten away with murder yet again.

One day, America will get its vengeance on Iran. Maybe not in the near future, but I am convinced that one day, we will have a government that understands the true nature of Islam, and will end this little dog and pony show. Until then, the Ayatollahs and Iranian Revolutionary Guards commanders can sleep good at night knowing there will be no consequences for their actions.
