Mark Steyn tells Lindsey Graham to shut up!

Lindsey Graham has shown his Totalitarian side recently. He recently supported banning speech that insults Islam. Now he tells Republicans in Congress to shut up about Libya. Mark Steyn takes Sen. Graham to task for his censorship calls.

Alternatively, here’s a suggestion for Senator Graham: Why don’t you shut up? Not permanently, but just long enough to:

a) reflect whether this apparently reflexive response of yours is really appropriate for a citizen-legislator in a self-governing republic;

b) articulate a rationale for the Libyan mission that would be so persuasive it would save you the trouble of making a fool of yourself by insisting that those who have the temerity to disagree with you are beyond the bounds of public discourse;

and c) spend ten minutes in a darkened room with a nice cup of herbal tea and ponder, re your assertion that those who won’t “shut up” are “empowering Qaddafi,” whether that line has any credibility coming from a member of the Congressional jet set who only two years ago was “empowering Qaddafi” by taking tea in the pock-marked transvestite’s tent as part of some greasy little Senatorial outreach mission.

South Carolina can do better than Lindsey Graham. Hopefully they will vote that Liberal Rockefeller Republican out in 2014!

Update: Miss Lindsey is nowhere to be seen in Boeing’s dispute with the Obama regime. The jobs Boeing wants to create is in South Carolina. Yet he’s absent on this critical issue. I guess Lindsey doesn’t want to upset her love, Obama!

Update II: Lindsey did write a letter to Rep. Issa compalining

Conservatives now reject Wilsonian Interventionism

After dabbling with Wilsonian Progressive interventionism during the Bush years, Republicans are going back to their roots. A new poll shows a majority of Republicans now reject this ideology. They are going back to Reagan era peace through strength idea. Stay strong, fight if you have to and only if it’s in our national or economic interest.

In their first major presidential debate on June 13, the Republican candidates sketched out a cautious approach to U.S. global engagement that would represent a departure from the policies of the Bush administration. Yet their ideas are very much in tune with the evolving views of the GOP base.

In the Pew Research Center’s political typology survey, released May 4, majorities in every partisan group — including 55% of conservative Republicans — said the U.S. “should pay less attention to problems overseas and concentrate on problems here at home.”

America is broke and we can’t be the world’s policeman no more. We need to be out for ourselves and only support allies who are willing to defend themselves. If John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Bill Kristol don’t like it, let them form their opwn private army for Democracy spreading. We have shed enough blood and spent enough of our treasure. We should only fight to defend our national intersts or for economic gains.

Wars for Muslim democracy is not Conservative!

The Manifesto of an Evil Totalitarian Political System

A young woman in Colorado named Ann Barnhardt watched Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) holding forth on television yesterday about the necessity for rolling back the First Amendment in order not to anger Muslims. This did not sit well with her, and she made a two-part video for YouTube expressing her outrage, and vigorously affirming her right to patriotic dissent.

She declares herself strongly at the beginning of the first video:

Hello, my name is Ann Barnhardt, and I am apparently one of the very, very last people left in Western Civilization who possesses any quantity of brains and balls simultaneously.

And it gets even better after that. The second video shows her tearing out pages — bookmarked with strips of bacon — from the Koran, and burning them one by one.

I don’t always regard Koran-burning as an effective tactic, although I fully support anyone who decides to do it. However, in this case I heartily approve of Ms. Barnhardt’s actions, because she does the job properly: she reads a relevant verse from the page before tearing it out and consigning it to hellfire. The verses she recites include 4:34 (beating your wife), the Sword Surah, some of the “smite their necks” ayats, and all those promises of sweet young boys like clear pearls for the believers who make it to paradise.

This is great stuff.

After watching this delightful young woman in action and listening to her excellent commentary, I was reminded of an old Robert Hunter lyric (from “Wild Bill”):

She was not just the girl of his dreams.
He was not only fond of her charms:
She could knock down a man at ninety paces
While he rolled her around in his arms.

Hat tip: Fausta.

Harry Reid wants Congressional probe of Koran Burning

Islam has become a defacto protected religion after 9/11. Criticism of Islam have become of unacceptable by our elites. Pastor Terry Jones led a Koran burning, in response there were Islamic riots. Instead of defending the right of the Pastor, to burn the Koran our elites are defending the anger of the Islamic rioters.

Harry Reid and Lindsey Graham are now calling for a Congressional investigation of the Koran burnings. In fact Miss Lindsey is discussing restricting some free speech that offends Islam.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says congressional lawmakers are discussing taking some action in response to the Koran burnings of a Tennessee pastor that led to killings at the U.N. facility in Afghanistan and sparked protests across the Middle East, Politico reports.

[…]

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress might need to explore the need to limit some forms of freedom of speech, in light of Tennessee pastor Terry Jones’ Quran burning, and how such actions result in enabling U.S. enemies.

“I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we’re in a war,” Graham told CBS’ Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation” Sunday.

Anything to please our Islamic masters, huh ms. Lindsey and Mr. Reid?
