Obama and Progressives try to do too much

Obama and his Progressive Machine cohorts have tried to radically change America. This is the reason behind the fall in his poll numbers. The worse is they seem to try to shove this Progressive agenda all at once to prevent analysis. This is method used in Totalitarian regimes and Americans are turned off by it.

President Barack Obama’s answer to composer Stephen Sondheim’s question would be “yes”, were he the sort who readily admits error — which he most definitely is not.

We are six months into the Obama reign, and he did have a good thing going until very recently. He pushed through what voters thought was a stimulus bill. He held numerous press conferences at which an adoring media allowed him to display his rhetorical skills — no mumbling George W Bush, he. He toured the world, to the applause of adoring masses from London to Paris to Cairo. He tackled perceived global warming by urging Congress to pass a cap-and-trade bill aimed at showing he could lead the way to a cooler, greener world. He bailed out General Motors and Chrysler, rewarding the United Auto Workers for delivering key states to him in last year’s election.

Then he did what Sondheim warned of — he “wanted too much” — and Congress went into recess without passing the president’s so-called reform of the nation’s healthcare industry, a $1 trillion (£600 billion) restructuring that would turn effective control of one-sixth of the American economy over to government bureaucrats. Too many congressmen learnt that almost 90% of Americans are satisfied with their healthcare, that a majority of voters think the deficit is already the nation’s biggest worry, and that 42% of Americans think the Obama plan is a bad idea, and only 36% that it is a good idea (22% have no opinion).

This is what Progressives do, they overwhelm their opponents. However Americans are realizing what is going on and are starting to resists. However be careful, when Totalitarian movements feel threatened, it gets ugly.

Geithner Won’t Rule Out New Taxes for Middle Class

Does this surprise anyone? Not me. Progressives have no problem raising taxes on anyone, regardless if they are middle class. Obama claims that he cut taxes for 95% of the people, but all I see is a $7 difference. Now, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will not rule out raising taxes on the middle class. Obama has made the deficit so large, that he has the pretext to raise them.

To get the economy back on track, will President Barack Obama have to break his pledge not to raise taxes on 95 percent of Americans? In a “This Week” exclusive, Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner told me, “We’re going to have to do what’s necessary.”

Geithner was clear that he believes a key component of economic recovery is deficit reduction. When I gave him several opportunities to rule out a middle class tax hike, he wouldn’t do it.

“We have to bring these deficits down very dramatically,” Geithner told me. “And that’s going to require some very hard choices.”

The Progressives want higher taxes. They want to create a system were people will struggle financially and be dependent on government. The best way to do this is to have high tax rates that will create a sluggish economy. The Progressives are now getting ready to implement the rest of their agenda.

My prediction, they will do a Value Added Tax.

Recession Worse Than Reported

The economy shrank by 1% last quarter. The Progressive Attack Machine is celebrating this as a good thing. They are claiming it is proof that things are improving. In reality, this is a disaster. New revised data shows the recession is worse than initially reported.

July 31 (Bloomberg) — The first 12 months of the U.S. recession saw the economy shrink more than twice as much as previously estimated, reflecting even bigger declines in consumer spending and housing, revised figures showed.

The world’s largest economy contracted 1.9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2007 to the last three months of 2008, compared with the 0.8 percent drop previously on the books, the Commerce Department said today in Washington.

“The current downturn beginning in 2008 is more pronounced,” Steven Landefeld, director of the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, said in a press briefing this week. The revisions were in line with past experience in which initial figures tended to underestimate the severity of contractions during their early stages, he said.

As the economy struggles, the Progressives will spin it like a boom.

Obummercare, Stop Calling it Health Insurance.

Today’s email from teh One.

Dear Friend,

If you’re like most Americans, there’s nothing more important to you about health care than peace of mind.

Given the status quo, that’s understandable. The current system often denies insurance due to pre-existing conditions, charges steep out-of-pocket fees – and sometimes isn’t there at all if you become seriously ill.

It’s time to fix our unsustainable insurance system and create a new foundation for health care security. That means guaranteeing your health care security and stability with eight basic consumer protections:

No discrimination for pre-existing conditions
No exorbitant out-of-pocket expenses, deductibles or co-pays
No cost-sharing for preventive care
No dropping of coverage if you become seriously ill
No gender discrimination
No annual or lifetime caps on coverage
Extended coverage for young adults
Guaranteed insurance renewal so long as premiums are paid

Learn more about these consumer protections at Whitehouse.gov.

Over the next month there is going to be an avalanche of misinformation and scare tactics from those seeking to perpetuate the status quo. But we know the cost of doing nothing is too high. Health care costs will double over the next decade, millions more will become uninsured, and state and local governments will go bankrupt.

It’s time to act and reform health insurance, drive down costs and guarantee the health care security and stability of every American family. You can help by putting these core principles of reform in the hands of your friends, your family, and the rest of your social network.

Thank you,
Barack Obama

President Obama, stop calling Obummercare insurance. It is not insurance, it is nothing but socialized healthcare handouts on the tax payers dime. Insurance companies make money by charging premiums and not giving every Tom, Dick and Hairy a policy. Higher risks require higher premiums or its nothing but a losing proposition.

Ironically the “avalanche” of misinformation teh One speaks of will be coming from teh One himself. This guise of protecting “consumers” will not drive-down cost, it will have quite the opposite effect. The only way teh One will drive down cost is by doing what the government does now. They will simply dictate what the doctor can change and what the government is willing to pay. And common sense dictates that a root-canal that cost $1200 dollars last week but only $400 dollars this week, will not be the same quality root-canal.

How many business owners are willing to allow the government to dictate what they can and can not charge for their professional services and how many employees are willing to allow the government to dictate the most they can be paid?

Obummercare BS and scare tactics coming from teh One soon.

From the White House Website

The Administration believes that comprehensive health reform should:

1* Reduce long-term growth of health care costs for businesses and government
2* Protect families from bankruptcy or debt because of health care costs
3* Guarantee choice of doctors and health plans
4* Invest in prevention and wellness
5* Improve patient safety and quality of care
6* Assure affordable, quality health coverage for all Americans
7* Maintain coverage when you change or lose your job
8* End barriers to coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions

1. So doctors, what you make now is all you will ever make. Forget about getting a pay raise, teh One needs to keep costs down.
2. Everything is free, well its not really “free” but it is for you. Someone else will have to foot the bill, so you don’t go into debt, save that for the new Plasma and surround sound system.
3. I smell an HMO, if you thought those were bad, wait until you have Obummercare.
4. More trips to the doctor for nothing and the doctor doesn’t make more money by doing more work. He now works more for much less money, thus the quality care we will all get.
5. See number 4
6. See number 4
7. Most companies have that already. But it will raise the cost of other things. No small business owner is not going to pass that extra cost onto their products or services.
8. So instead of a “family” going bankrupt over health costs, the health insurance company can go bankrupt, then all those families can lose their jobs. So their bankruptcies will be job based instead a lack of health insurance based.

Man that Obummer sure is a smart guy!
