Church of the Light

“And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; / And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, / And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.”

Besides doubling down on ignintz, she sourced this brilliance:
    https://tudorscribe.medium.com/do-you-work-longer-hours-than-a-medieval-peasant-17a9efe92a20

    from her piece:

In fact, Schor found that during periods of particularly high wages, such as 14th-century England, peasants might put in no more than 150 days a year. “All told, holiday leisure time in medieval England took up probably about one-third of the year,” she wrote in her book.

She neglects to mention that those high wages were the result of a labor shortage brought on by the plague.

Her idea of ‘leisure’ is not ours. They simply didn’t labor for their land’s owner but for themselves instead. If you think you can process an entire harvest in 8 hours a day for half the year, you’ve never grown even a garden. The harvest has to be put up, the crops put up, the fiber spun into flax /wool, woven into cloth, cloth sewn into clothes, and on and on. Try doing it with the equivalent of candlelight. Their ‘holidays’ consisted of spending half the day in church, not sitting around in pubs getting shit faced. Their sleep patterns were different too, but that’s another story (they didn’t sleep a straight 8 hrs a nite, they got up in the middle and then slept a few more hours before dawn). Animals have a bad habit of giving birth in the middle of the night too.

not really. There were usually quite a few people in the household and they all slept together. More likely they all had to pee at the same time!

    California fucks up again.

California introduced new regulations for the trucking industry that will make the supply chain issues much worse. They will also hurt industry workers.

California issued sweeping environmental regulations to reduce fossil fuel emissions throughout the state. It will cripple the trucking industry, although California officials don’t see it that way.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) issued a set of revised regulations called the Air Resources Board Truck and Bus Regulation, which required trucking companies in the state to upgrade their trucks with 2010 or newer engines by Jan. 1, 2023. The provision will add additional pressure to the supply chain crisis and cause many small trucking businesses to close or significantly reduce their workforce, industry leaders told the DCNF.

“We in the industry know that if you think there was a supply chain problem over the last year, wait until you take this many trucks out of the marketplace that are not replaceable,” Joe Rajkovacz, director of governmental affairs and communications at the Western States Trucking Association, told the DCNF. “You can be talking about something we as a country have never seen before.”

The rule will take roughly 80,000 commercial trucks, or roughly 17% of the trucking fleet, off the road, adding significant pressure to the supply chain crisis, Rajkovacz said.

When does this become interference with the interstate commerce clause?

Something I find interesting but to everyone else it is boring.

I do not know how produce is labeled in the rest of the USA but here in Texas things tend to be labeled in English and Spanish.

Recently I have noticed a trend to label items in English and French. I looked in my cupboards and quite a few items the alternate language is French.

Had not noticed it until tonight as I am fluent in French ( five years study ) so whichever way a can or package was facing on the shelf I kind of automatically knew what it was.

What made me realise the predominance of French over the usual Spanish was when I went into the kitchen to get a couple of potatoes out of a sack that got delivered yesterday..

” Pommes de terre russet biologiques ”

I thought, I just learned another French word. Biologiques means organic. ( organic were all Amazon had in stock, I am not an organic freak )

That is when it struck me! If there had not been a word on the sack I did not know I would have not really noticed the alternate language on the sack was French.

And, YES I did then look where the potatoes were grown, not Canada but the USA.

Sorry for the boring post, LMAO but I have French ziplock backs too!

Ahhh The myth of the noble savage raises its ugly head yet again. Life is / was short, brutish and cruel. Even these days in the New Guinea Highlands men are lucky to reach 40 years of age. If you reach 60 you are truly old. You look old and your body is totally shot and full of joint problems and physical damage.

Women are ‘worked out’ by the time they are 30! By the time women have berthed half a dozen children and done 90% of all of the hard physical work, they just were too exhausted to go on. When the suicide rate among women less than 40 years old is 35% you know there is something seriously wrong with the culture.
Child mortality to the age of 5 is as high as 25%, mostly from Beri Beri (starvation) disease and accidents.

Left-Wing Group Tries to Disqualify Republican Frontrunner in PA Governor’s Race on ‘Insurrection’ Grounds

A left-wing group is trying to disqualify outspoken Trump supporter Pennsylvania state Senator Doug Mastriano from the state governor’s race because he allegedly participated in an “insurrection” against the U.S. government by supporting the former president’s reelection bid.

Recent polling shows Mastriano has the lead—garnering 19 percent support—in the field of 9 candidates seeking the Republican nomination for governor of the Keystone State, according to a poll Eagle Consulting Group conducted of 502 likely GOP primary voters from April 7 through April 9, PennLive reports. The primary election is May 17. The current governor, Democrat Tom Wolf, is term-limited. Attorney General Josh Shapiro is running unopposed in the Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary.

This alleged insurrection supposedly culminated in the security breach on Jan. 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol complex in which supporters of then-President Donald Trump delayed the congressional certification of the 2020 presidential election results for several hours. Democrats and a handful of Republicans characterize the disturbance as an insurrection or coup attempt aimed at overthrowing the U.S. government, a claim that has been adamantly denied by Trump and his supporters.

Those trying to kick Mastriano off the ballot say his actions triggered the rarely invoked Disqualification Clause in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which was enacted in the wake of the Civil War to keep former Confederates out of Congress and state governments.

The provision states in the relevant part: “No person shall … hold any office … under any state, who, having previously taken an oath … or as a member of any state legislature … any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

A nonprofit called Free Speech For People is urging Acting Secretary of the Commonwealth Leigh Chapman, a Democrat, to bar Mastriano “from appearing on the ballot for election to any state office in Pennsylvania,” according to a letter (pdf) the group recently sent to Chapman.

“You have the authority and responsibility to determine, as part of the state ballot qualification process, that because Mr. Mastriano engaged in the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Mr. Mastriano is ineligible to appear on the gubernatorial ballot or on any other ballot for office in the state of Pennsylvania,” the letter states.

Before the events of Jan. 6, Mastriano reportedly argued that Pennsylvania’s presidential election in November 2020 was unfair and corrupt. He claimed election fraud was rampant and unsuccessfully urged the state legislature to fix the problem by exercising its authority under Article II, section 1, of the U.S. Constitution to appoint the state’s presidential electors directly.

The letter states that Mastriano was present at the rally that preceded the Jan. 6, 2021 security breach and “subsequently rode a golf cart and marched to the Capitol,” but provides no evidence that he participated in or encouraged the breaching of security.

    oh yuck

Residents of the northeastern United States are preparing for a strong and potentially disruptive storm that could deliver up to a foot of snow, heavy rain and fierce winds through Tuesday, AccuWeather meteorologists say.

Despite the calendar showing a mid-April date, heavy, accumulating snow is most likely to fall across interior portions of the Northeast by Tuesday, and the snow is likely to cause travel disruptions, particularly in the mountains from Pennsylvania to New England.

Winter weather advisories stretched from West Virginia to parts of New England on Monday morning while winter storm warnings were in place from northeastern Pennsylvania through much of interior New York.

He’s the Julian Assange of the UK. You know this doesn’t happen unless the cops are in on it. In Rotherham – I think that was the name of the town – when it all blew up the cops gave the excuse that they didn’t want to be called ‘racist’. The Queen should have given a speech about it.

It certainly was Rotherham and the grooming thing dragged on for years because the Chief Constable refused to charge anyone because to do that would have … quote … made her a racist ….unquote. The heat cops were suppressed by the local socialist council as well and were totally de-fanged and couldn’t even charge or hold grooming gangs of muslim men who preyed in young Caucasian girls. Many cops just voted with their feet which made the situation even worse. So called Asian (AKA Muslim) gangs groomed thousands of young girls over the years, until there was a council and upper echelon of the local Police force, clean-out.

The Queen didn’t say a thing, as she too was terrified of being called a racist by the Marxist council and Progressive Left 9 AKA Socialist radical left) Police administration.

Georg Cantor. 19th Century mathematician. Created a statement about infinity.

2 to the exponent of Aleph sub 0 = Aleph sub 1.

He would work on it all spring and summer and in the fall come down with a case of acute depression and had to excuse himself to a mental health spa for 6 months. Then would try again pushing a bit forward but ending up institutionalized again,

19th Century German mathematics was a cutthroat world.

Wake Forest med student who implied she harmed patient for mocking pronoun pin on ‘extended leave’

A fourth-year medical student at North Carolina’s Wake Forest University, Kychelle Del Rosario, is on “extended leave” and will not be seeing patients amid controversy over a tweet suggesting she missed a vein during a blood draw on a patient who disagreed with her political views on transgenderism.

“Wake Forest School of Medicine has completed a thorough review of the patient encounter with our medical student who recently made an inaccurate statement on social media,” Wake Health spokeswoman Paula Faria said in a statement to Fox News Digital on Friday. “The review determined that the student had no intention to harm the patient and followed Medical Center protocols.”

“The School and the student have agreed upon her taking an extended leave,” Faria added. “During this time the student will not participate in any patient care activities.”

Spain likely to cut electricity to France, says report

    COMMENTS
Spain has informed the European Commission that a joint price reduction plan with Portugal may entail restricting energy sales to France, El Pais reported.

Madrid is its northern neighbor’s largest single supplier of imported electricity, and the potential restriction comes as the entire EU grapples with soaring energy costs.

Spain and Portugal agreed in late March to cap the price of gas used in electricity generation to the equivalent of 30 euros per megawatt/hour ($32.50).

    We’re in Norway.

The Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit completed Northern Viking 2022 and made a port call in Tromso, Norway, last week. Two of the three ships in the Kearsarge ARG deployed on March 16 from Naval Station Norfolk, Va., and Camp Lejeune, N.C., according to U.S. 2nd Fleet. USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) and USS Arlington (LPD-24) left the East Coast with Marine Expeditionary Unit 22 embarked. The third amphib, USS Gunston Hall (LSD-44), deployed later in March from Joint Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Va.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the connection between government and these hacker groups went even deeper. I could totally see the NSA doing the cyber equivalent of the “parallel construction” scam the DOJ frequently uses, where they illegally obtain evidence and then work backwards to figure out a way that they can pretend to have obtained it legally.

It would be much simpler for “hackers” to dox someone after the NSA tells them who they are.

LOL I fell asleep. A day or so I posted a list of foods that I like and eat.

It was going to be about the foods I HATED and refused to eat when I was a child.

The point was going to be about the current trend of giving puberty blockers to pre-pubescent children.

My tastes and love of food changed as I became older. I would be annoyed if when I was young my parents made a decision that for the rest of my life I could never eat tomatoes, mushrooms, butter, pineapples, broccoli or tripe because at age six I hated them.

( OK in later life no fucking way am I eating tripe. Nope, not eating it. There are two kinds, cow stomach and cow udder. That shit is nasty! )

Now in 2022 if I was age six and I told my parents I did not like having a penis and wanted to be a girl. No problem, snip, and off comes the offending appendage. ( not exactly that harsh but due to puberty blockers I would end up with a micro-penis )

All forms of ” gender reassignment ” should not be undertaken until AFTER puberty. Let the NATURAL hormones dictate what the mind thinks the person’s body is.

CDC asks Justice Department to proceed with mask mandate appeal
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is asking the Department of Justice to proceed with its appeal of a ruling issued by a Florida judge on Monday which tossed out the Biden administration’s mask mandate for public transportation passengers.

“To protect CDC’s public health authority beyond the ongoing assessment announced last week, CDC has asked DOJ to proceed with an appeal in Health Freedom Defense Fund, Inc., et al., v. Biden, et al. It is CDC’s continuing assessment that at this time an order requiring masking in the indoor transportation corridor remains necessary for the public health. CDC will continue to monitor public health conditions to determine whether such an order remains necessary. CDC believes this is a lawful order, well within CDC’s legal authority to protect public health,” the statement reads.

Notice that they aren’t appealing because there’s any need for people to wear masks. It’s so they can “protect the CDC’s authority.”

Any authority they had ended when the mask mandates ended. I beleive that they are delegated executive power from the executive branch but only in an emergency. The rest of the time they are just in an advisory situation. At least that is how public health worked on my local level. And in 30 years of flues and etc emergency powers were never granted to local public health. Waste of resources. Earthquakes, 9/11, and snow never generated emergency power. Snowfall came the closest if the snow plows weren’t quick. The emergency manual had a page detailing how to lock gas stations down and how to communicate to people that they couldn’t’ travel until the snow melted.

Florida Department of Health Releases Guidance on Treatment of Gender Dysphoria for Children and Adolescents
    April 20, 2022

    Contact:
    Communications Office
    NewsMedia@flhealth.gov
    (850) 245-4111

Tallahassee, Fla. — Today, the Florida Department of Health released guidance regarding the treatment of gender dysphoria for children and adolescents. This guidance uses the most up-to-date scientific data available, and it prioritizes the overall health and well-being of Florida’s children and adolescents. The Department’s guidance is available here.

“The federal government’s medical establishment releasing guidance failing at the most basic level of academic rigor shows that this was never about health care,” said State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo. “It was about injecting political ideology into the health of our children. Children experiencing gender dysphoria should be supported by family and seek counseling, not pushed into an irreversible decision before they reach 18.”

Countries such as Sweden, Finland, France, and the United Kingdom are currently reviewing, reevaluating, stopping, or advising caution on the treatment of gender dysphoria in children and adolescents.

The Department crafted this guidance using published and peer-reviewed data that calls into question the motives of the federal HHS. Guidance of this magnitude requires a full, diligent understanding of the scientific evidence.

The current evidence does not support the use of puberty blockers, hormone treatments, or surgical procedures for children and adolescents, considering:

80% of those seeking clinical care will lose their desire to identify with the non-birth sex,
the importance of puberty to brain development, with the pre-frontal cortex (which is responsible for executive functions, such as decision making) continuing to develop until Department’s guidance is available hereapproximately 25 years of age,
and the potentially irreversible consequences such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, infertility, increased cancer risk, and thrombosis.

I do not understand why in 2022 there is this perceived increase in pre-pubescent children unhappy with their bodies and wanting to change from female to male or male to female.

A female body does not prevent you from doing anything in life nowadays.

I could understand young girls wanting to be boys in the 1960’s. So they could be astronauts, fighter pilots, police men, fire fighters, the list is endless.

Today your biological sex is not a barrier.

With the Twitter board having created a poison pill strategy to block Elon Musk from buying the entire company, it appeared that Musk might end up being stymied. However, Florida’s governor Ron DeSantis may be riding to the effort with a shareholder’s suit accusing the board of directors of breaching its fiduciary duty. However, even if the board is forced to bow down, it’s possible that America’s national security apparatus may step in to block the sale.

Destroying democracy to save it? Court advances effort to block GOP candidates from ballots

As the country braces for the midterm elections, the left seems to be rallying behind three D’s: Democracy, Disinformation and Disqualification. The latter effort just received a huge boost from a judge in Georgia who has allowed a challenge to knock Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) off the ballot as an insurrectionist. Nothing says “democracy” like preventing others from voting.
    .
    .
Judge Amy Totenberg ruled that critics could potentially strip Greene from the ballot due to her public comments before and after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot in Congress. Totenberg ruled that Greene’s critics could bring a challenge under the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, known as the “Disqualification Clause.” This is the same clause cited by some liberal members of Congress and legal experts as a way to bar dozens of Republicans, including former President Trump, from office for allegedly engaging in insurrection against the United States or giving aid and comfort to its enemies.

    @ eaglesoars:

There is another problem: To the extent that a person can be disqualified under the 14th Amendment, it requires action from Congress, not a local board of election. Despite an otherwise long, careful opinion, Totenberg blithely set aside such details, including an 1869 decision by then-Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase. The case in question challenged the right of Hugh W. Sheffey to hold a Virginia state court office, given his support for the Confederacy. Chase ruled that Section 3 did not disqualify Sheffey because “legislation by Congress is necessary to give effect to” Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, and disqualification from office “can only be provided for by Congress.”

That would be the same Congress that has the power to expel Greene from office, yet has not done so.

If they don’t have grounds to remove her, I can’t see them trying to bar her from reelection.

My teenage daughter has decided that she is “trans”. So have all her friends. Not some of them. Not most of them. Every. Single. One.

She had never heard of trans, and had no signs of gender dysphoria, until she was moved to a new, cool trans-friendly school by her unsuspecting, politically liberal parents. There she met a group of geeky (or dare I say nerdy?), smart, slightly (but not very) gender nonconforming, artsy kids. As I understand it, they all discovered “trans” together. The old “cis” friends were swiftly discarded in favour of this exciting new peer group.

Exploring “trans stuff” online with friends is a source of great interest and excitement—a real social event. What’s not to love about 245 gender identities, complete with their own unique flags? Then there are those cool neo-pronouns. Forcing your out-of-touch old parents to refer to you as “ze” or “ey” (how do you pronounce that again??) in the name of “inclusivity” is just too delicious to resist. The manga, the cute avatars in computer games, the blue or pink hair—all part of the fun as well. Mocking the outgroup (in this case so-called “cis” people in general and the dreaded TERFs in particular) is also good for a laugh—especially if they happen to be your parents as well.

A month ago, I was sent a Tweetstorm written by a woman who had worked as a “reproductive health assistant” at Planned Parenthood for about 18 months prior to March 2020. If you assumed that the employee had abortion on her mind, then your knowledge of Planned Parenthood is outdated. Planned Parenthood is now one of the largest providers in the United States of cross-sex hormones like testosterone to females seeking medical gender transition.
    .
    .
The Planned Parenthood clinic where she worked was located in a small town of roughly 30,000. Abortions were the clinic’s “bread and butter,” something this employee fully supports. But, she noted, “trans identifying kids are cash cows, and they are kept on the hook for the foreseeable future in terms of follow-up appointments, bloodwork, meetings, etc., whereas abortions are (hopefully) a one-and-done situation.”

How significant is this revenue stream? I’ve never been able to obtain numbers on that, though the Planned Parenthood website for Central and Western New York states that: “Nationally, Planned Parenthood is the second largest provider of Gender Affirming Hormone Care.” It seems reasonable to conclude that hormone treatments—pricey as they are—now contribute materially to Planned Parenthood’s bottom line.

Bannon is talking to Robby Starbucks who moved to Tennessee (along with Megan Ortegas) to run for office. And they both got promptly kicked off the ballot by the local GOP. I forget what rule the GOP invoked but whatever. Starbucks (who is a bomb thrower) is going to war.

Everybody is completely missing what’s going on here. In the Great Migration that’s going on, Tennessee is exploding with new people. Knoxville is getting overwhelmed, and Nashville, where Starbucks and Ortega moved to, is near breaking.

The longtime locals are resentful and fearful. Housing is now unaffordable because of the increase in demand, traffic is terrible, etc. You know the drill.

This isn’t about the GOP ‘establishment’ trying “to protect it’s preferred candidate”. It’s about people who have spent their lives, sometimes generations, trying to protect their home from an overwhelming invasion by strangers.

The new rules state that the candidate must have voted in the district they’re running in for the last 3 election cycles. In other words, you have to have been here long enough to ‘get what’s going on’. I think that’s reasonable. This is an anti-carpetbagger thing.

CNN+ Is Shutting Down One Month After Launch

Warner Bros. Discovery is shutting down CNN+ as of April 30, marking one of the company’s first significant maneuvers since completing the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery less than two weeks ago.

The decision puts an abrupt end to an ambitious venture that people familiar with the matter say rankled David Zaslav, the new CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, from the start. Zaslav was annoyed by the decision of Jason Kilar, the former CEO of WarnerMedia when it was owned by AT&T, to launch CNN+ just weeks before Discovery was set to take over operations.

“This decision is in line with WBD’s broader direct-to-consumer strategy,” said Chris Licht, the incoming CEO of CNN, in a statement. “In a complex streaming market, consumers want simplicity and an all-in service, which provides a better experience and more value than stand-alone offerings.” Zaslav has been open in the recent past about his desire to combine all of the company’s streaming-video assets, which also include Discovery+ and HBO Max, under a single umbrella.

Andrew Morse, the CNN executive vice president who oversees the newly-launched streaming-video outlet, as well as CNN’s digital and Spanish-language operations, was told of the decision ahead of time, these people said, and is expected to depart after a period of transition. Alex MacCallum was named to oversee digital, and CNN+ employees will be paid for the next 90 days and be given opportunities to explore other positions around the company.

Here’s a well written background on the M16/5.56 ball powder/stick powder problems during the 60’s:-

The AR 15 rifle and cartridge were formally adopted in 1964, designated the XM16E1 (common name M16) rifle and 5.56 Ball M193 cartridge. Velocity for the 55 grain bullet from the 20” barrel of the M16 was rated at a true 3200fps. The rifle was used in small numbers up until 1965 when both the war and production of the M16 rose dramatically.
From the very outset of its adoption, the M16 was plagued with troubles. Stoner had designed the original AR 15 with a very slow barrel twist rate of 1:14 which was literally a doubled edged sword. By using a slow twist barrel, the 55 grain bullet was only just stable in flight, producing a small degree of yaw. On impact, the bullet would immediately tumble and render a wide, incapacitating wound. This was initially considered a brilliant design premise but some rifles produced too much yaw and were very inaccurate at longer ranges. McNamara ordered that the twist rate be changed to 1:12 before final adoption of the rifle in 1964. This cured longer range accuracy problems but completely destroyed the stopping power of the 55 grain bullet which now poked needle holes through its victims. Nobody questioned the potential consequences of this move and ignorant of the facts, Ordnance brass continued to believe and promote the M193 as a highly effective cartridge.
Major troubles next appeared in 1965 when the M16 rifle was adopted on masse by the thousands of U.S soldiers entering Vietnam. Up to 50% of the rifles were jamming in the field and hundreds of U.S troops were killed while desperately trying to clear jammed chambers. Troops were further demoralized when neither the military brass or Colt would look into the problem seriously. Instead, troops were accused of not cleaning their rifles properly which had lead to powder fouling. The powder fouling was sighted as the reason why cases were not being extracted from the rifle’s chamber.
After continued complaints, both the Ordnance department and Colt representatives eventually began to look at the problem although still with a measure of apathy. The M16 then underwent some design alterations however, the cause of the jamming problem had still not been identified. A new model M16A1 now featured a chrome lined chamber and bore in an effort to produce smoother feeding. Other alterations were made to the M16, but without any true knowledge of the underlying problem, these added unnecessary weight to the rifle which was now only a shade lighter than the M14.
It was several years before the underlying cause of the M16’s jamming problem was properly indentified. Ordnance staff discovered that Stoner and ammunition manufacturers had initially tested the AR 15 using extruded (stick) powder but when the Vietnam conflict exploded, ammunition manufacturers adopted the more readily available ball powder. The ball powder produced a longer peak chamber pressure with dire effects. Normally upon firing, the cartridge should expand to seal the chamber (obturation), then contract and then be extracted. With ball powder, the case was still obturated due to the longer peak pressure. The ejector would then fail to extract the case, tearing through the case rim, leaving the obturated case behind.
In 1970, the U.S government announced its standardization of the M16A1 rifle and cartridge to NATO allies. The news was received with a degree of resentment, especially for those countries who had committed precious resources to the T44 cartridge and rifles. Nevertheless, as finances allowed, all NATO pact members eventually adopted the 5.56mm cartridge. Most countries adopted the M16A1 rifle while a few worked with their own rifle designs.
During the 1980’s, the 5.56mm cartridge was officially standardized as a NATO cartridge. A remaining weakness of the M193 load was is extremely poor penetration through heavy clothing at ranges of 500 yards and beyond. The Belgium military provided a solution with their 62 grain bullet design. The Belgium load became the standard NATO ball, designated the 5.56 NATO. Muzzle velocity is 3025fps from a 20” barrel. The M16 rifle then underwent a further upgrade to a 1:7 barrel twist rate to utilize the new load. The new model rifle was designated the M16A2.
Today, the M16 rifle design remains in service world wide. The current model is designated the M16A4 and features a Picatinny scope rail with most M16 rifles now wearing a scope. Several countries have however moved away from the M16 rifle, some towards more radical designs, notably Great Britain who utilize the SA80 along with Australia and New Zealand who currently use the Steyr AUG rifle.
The 62 grain load is still used by all NATO members however its shortcomings are a continual source of frustration to soldiers engaged in combat. Nevertheless, current allied military strategy does not require a great deal from infantry weapons. The standard operating procedure (SOP) used in the war against terrorism is somewhat simple and predictable. Allies are required to locate terrorists, surround the target and provide suppressive fire while awaiting either an air strike or artillery support. The 5.56 NATO is adequate for this role and also excels during house to house combat, at point blank ranges.
In other words….the 5.56 is crap….we know….you know it…..but the military industrial complex likes it.
Long range?…..We don’ need your steenkin’ long range!

This’ll be the first time the US has gone outside the continent to buy a standard weapon.
Colt M16 was a one off…..prior to that, Springfield Armory produced all the US rifles.
Funny that the US troops in Afganistan were given “special issue” M14’s (7.62×51) so they could over-match ranges with the AK (7.62/39) opposition, as the Taliban were launching attacks between 300-900 metres, knowing full well the 5.56 was only effective out to 300 metres……but info not released to the press as it would denigrate the M16/M4 in the eyes of the US public.
I was a little surprised that given all the info on the various bullets, that the US didn’t go for the 6.5mm Grendel lead core round instead of the 6.8mm.
The 6.5 uses low drag rounds and over-matches the 7.62 in range and velocity, whereas the 6.8’s range, surprisingly, isn’t much better than a 5.56…..ergo, with 6.8mm, although having a greater stopping power than the 5.56…..you’re not really solving the problem of having a “one-size-fits-all” round…..like the 6.5mm.
In other words, they’re still going to need 7.62!
But heck…..what does Aussie Infidel know?…..probably as much as the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, who also recommended the 6.5mm over the 6.8.

    🙂

It’s an interesting setup. The dish points north from here, which surprised me. I’m used to satellite TV dishes, which orient south. And it points up at about a 75 degree angle.

To my knowledge, the satellites are in geosynchronous orbit (meaning they’re stationary with respect to ground stations). That’s generally how all communications satellites work.

The dish has to be oriented toward whichever satellite has the strongest signal at that given location. When you install a TV dish, the instructions give you a general direction and angle to point it, and then you use a signal strength meter on-screen as part of the setup process to fine tune it. It takes two people, since one has to be outside with the dish.

The Starlink dish scans the sky automatically to find the best signal.

    @ lobo91:
Nope, the starlink satellites are in a very low earth orbit and they are zooming around all over the place. Because they are so low the internet time lag is small.

The Hughes Internet satellites from 20 years ago were in Geo sync orbit at about 22,500 miles up. So you send to one = 22,500 miles. They ask ground station for your web page is another 22,500 miles. Ground station sends your web page to satellite another 22,500 miles and the satellite sends it to you. Yep 22,500 miles.

90,000 miles not allowing for any other delays. Speed of light is 186,000 mph so every tome you request data using a geosync satellite you ain’t getting it in less than half a second.

You are probably old enough to remember making a Transatlantic phone call in the 70’s. You had to wait for a circuit to be available. It was like a normal call. Then they routed them by satellite and the delay was laughable. You had to wait after speaking before the other person replied.

Then came trans Atlantic cable and phone calls became normal.

As an example, watch a live news broadcast where the studio is talking to a reporter in the field. Notice the delay from when the person in the studio asks a question and the remote reporter replies.

He went OFF on Obama. Fraud. Loser. Liar. Worst staffing he’d ever seen, young, inexperienced and BEYOND arrogant. Bongino was doing advance work – Indonesia I think – and the WH rep was a true little shit. He insinuated himself into every meeting, treated people like crap, etc. The Indonesian security services gave him a hard time. Bongino tried to get them to cut the kid a break, because he did, after all, represent POTUS. So he took one guy aside and said, “Look, he is the POTUS rep we have to at least try to work with him.” The Indonesian guy said “The power around here comes with the people who have the guns. He doesn’t have the guns. You have the guns. We listen to you.”

Bongino sez “OK!! There’s THAT problem solved!”

Then he told about how the entire Obama WH DESPISED Joe Biden, especially Obama. “Nobody on this planet despises Joe Biden more than Barak Obama”.

American inches to the rest of the world centimeters.

You can do approximations and that is ok for short distances.

But the approximations and that error kind of multiply.

Try fitting German made metric flooring into a 300ft long hog barn.

America really needs to go metric.

Exceptionalism Sagging? American Penises Are Only 59th Biggest In World

American exceptionalism has led US citizens to believe they’re inherently different than the rest of the world. They presume they’re the best in everything, but this has proven not to be the case over time. The latest example is penis size. This might be traumatizing for some American males, but the US ranks near the bottom of the list in average penis size.

According to The Sun, citing a new study, Americans have an average erect penis size of 5.35 inches and is shorter than their Ecuadorian, Haitians, French, Germany, Australian, Spanish, and even Indian counterparts. Not too far off from Japanese males at 5.34 inches.

Online pharmacy From Mars developed a new poll from 86 nations and found the US ranked 59th. The largest were Ecuadorians, coming in at a staggering 6.93-inch average erect length. The smallest was Cambodians at just 3.95 inches.

I have no idea what this Online pharmacy From Mars even is….

Pfizer’s docs – the ones they wanted held back for 75 years – show their adverse event numbers oversampled females (males develop myocarditis doncha know), combined numbers for recovered/recovering and show a fatality rate of over 3%.

Arizona Judge Dismisses Lawsuits Aimed at Disqualifying Reps. Gosar, Biggs

An Arizona judge has tossed lawsuits that attempted to disqualify Reps. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) from holding office.

The suits, which also took aim at state Rep. Mark Finchem, a Republican, failed because the U.S. Constitution does not provide for private action to enforce Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment, Superior Court Judge Christopher Coury ruled.

The section, known as the Disqualification Clause, says that no person shall hold a federal office if they “have engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the government.

Two groups linked to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a self-described socialist, filed the complaints, claiming that Gosar, Biggs, and Finchem violated the clause because they “helped facilitate” the Jan. 6, 2021, breach of the U.S. Capitol.

But the clause clearly states that Congress is the body that has the power to enforce the section, a determination also outlined in one of the few cases that deal with it, Coury said.

“Congress has not created a civil private right of action to allow a citizen to enforce the Disqualification Clause by having a person declared to be ‘not qualified’ to hold public office,” the judge ruled.

Plaintiffs, expecting such a judgment, also argued that the ability of citizens to challenge candidates is created by a state law, but Coury also disagreed.

The law says that “Any elector may challenge a candidate for any reason relating to qualifications for the office sought as prescribed by law.”

“In sum, even assuming arguendo that the court were to accept plaintiffs’ argument that Arizona (and not just Congress) had the power to create a private right of action to enforce the Disqualification Clause, A.R.S. § 16-351(B) does not do this,” Coury said. “To expand the inquiry to include disqualifications—or who is proscribed from holding office—would re-write the applicable statute and create a cause of action and remedy in a statutorily-created body of law. This would be contrary to established precedent.”

The qualifications for members of Congress are exclusively determined by each chamber, as outlined in Article 1, Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution. The qualifications for officials in Arizona’s Executive Branch—Finchem is running to be secretary of state—are stated in the Arizona Constitution.

    Coury dismissed the complaints.

“Today’s ruling is a win for the Constitution. The 14th Amendment allows the House of Representatives to determine eligibility to serve, not some left-wing, radical, special interest group,” Biggs said in a statement.

Challengers didn’t respond to a request for comment.

    Hmmmm
Perhaps you’re correct but I assumed that it was also a matter of every Starlink knowing exactly where the other Starlink satellites were at any particular moment and those in range of each specific receiver. Hence the need to mathematically ‘adjust’ the timing to correct for quantuum effects in both position and timing much as happens on GPS satellites. Otherwise you get quantuum ‘drifting’ and the whole system breaks down very quickly.
