Thanks lobo, I have a thing or 2 to share

US Electrical Grid Dependent on China–Made Transformers

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/us-electrical-grid-dependent-on-china-made-transformers-5384923

In this case, what the Chinese did was genius. They realized that these transformers need a certain type of steel to be manufactured, grain-oriented electrical steel. What do the Chinese do? They dumped into the market massive amounts of grain-oriented steel. They cornered the market for the precursors that are needed to create the transformers.
    .
    .
We imported this massive 500,000-pound electric transformer from China. They decided to send it to one of our national labs when it came into the country. They found hardware in it that had the ability for somebody in China to switch it off.
    .
    .
The grid is also vulnerable to threats from Mother Nature. It’s 100 percent certain that at some point the grid will go down because of solar weather. That’s a warning I’ve personally issued at least twice to Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm

The article talks about a group Grid Down Power Up

This is a 6 minute video of Sen. Kennedy – out national treasure from Louisiana grilling a judicial nominee on all the times she was reversed. ONE of the cases was a shocker. Apparently the Pres. of Penn State was convicted of covering up child sex abuse crimes. WHAT?? Anyhoo, this whacko judge let him go on a habeus corpus thing and got nailed for it by the 3rd circuit for failing to apply the relevant case law. sheesh

I posted an article about this downstairs, but this one is straight from NASA. With cool video!

Tonga Eruption Blasted Unprecedented Amount of Water Into Stratosphere

    https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/tonga-eruption-blasted-unprecedented-amount-of-water-into-stratosphere

he huge amount of water vapor hurled into the atmosphere, as detected by NASA’s Microwave Limb Sounder, could end up temporarily warming Earth’s surface.

When the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano erupted on Jan. 15, it sent a tsunami racing around the world and set off a sonic boom that circled the globe twice. The underwater eruption in the South Pacific Ocean also blasted an enormous plume of water vapor into Earth’s stratosphere – enough to fill more than 58,000 Olympic-size swimming pools. The sheer amount of water vapor could be enough to temporarily affect Earth’s global average temperature.

“We’ve never seen anything like it,” said Luis Millán, an atmospheric scientist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. He led a new study examining the amount of water vapor that the Tonga volcano injected into the stratosphere, the layer of the atmosphere between about 8 and 33 miles (12 and 53 kilometers) above Earth’s surface.

In the study, published in Geophysical Research Letters, Millán and his colleagues estimate that the Tonga eruption sent around 146 teragrams (1 teragram equals a trillion grams) of water vapor into Earth’s stratosphere – equal to 10% of the water already present in that atmospheric layer. That’s nearly four times the amount of water vapor that scientists estimate the 1991 Mount Pinatubo eruption in the Philippines lofted into the stratosphere.
    .
    .
This extra water vapor could influence atmospheric chemistry, boosting certain chemical reactions that could temporarily worsen depletion of the ozone layer. It could also influence surface temperatures. Massive volcanic eruptions like Krakatoa and Mount Pinatubo typically cool Earth’s surface by ejecting gases, dust, and ash that reflect sunlight back into space. In contrast, the Tonga volcano didn’t inject large amounts of aerosols into the stratosphere, and the huge amounts of water vapor from the eruption may have a small, temporary warming effect, since water vapor traps heat. The effect would dissipate when the extra water vapor cycles out of the stratosphere and would not be enough to noticeably exacerbate climate change effects.

I simply did NOT get it. At first. Then I got my sorry ass kicked out of Mt. Lebanon and ended up in a private school. My geometry teacher was one Lois Anderson, may God bless her and keep her. She told everybody to call her ‘Butch’ because that’s what her husband called her. Well, Butch instinctively figured out my problem and how to solve it. At the time, I didn’t know if I wanted to go into anthropology or archeology. During summer breaks, she and her husband – who actually was an archeaologist – would head down to Mexico and work on digs. She asked me if I’d like to learn how to set up a dig!

And she taught me geometry without my realizing it. Until I did. After that I went from a ‘lucky if I pulled a D’ to a straight A.

It’s not that I’m stupid, but I definitely don’t learn like other people.

    But I need a refresher.

    Leprosy! Oh goody!

NOT really a problem these days. First it is extremely hard to spread. I was terrified of catching Leprosy from the locals I used to fly from the jungle to the coast so that they could be treated. Villages would have just a couple of Leper houses (families) in a village of 20 huts. It just didn’t spread as long as you didn’t live in VERY close proximity for long periods. The Ultimate nurse Ever told me in NO UNCERTAIN terms to put the TB cases down the back, then a row of Yaws because they stunk and looked like green erupting mini-volcanos on their faces and then PUT THE LEPERS up the front with you mate! Now get on with it pronto bud!

Everyone was terrified of her. She was 5’3″ would blow away in a strong breeze, and looked after 83,000 patients, walked the school kids back home for the long holidays a week’s walk, from (patrol officers hut to Patrol officers hut) all on her own in the jungle but with 60 kids in tow between 7 and 13 who boarded on the coast because there was not enough food where they lived! She was some gal! Erin Halloran from Invercargill at the bottom of NZ.

Used to ferry her about by air to give paediatric services to the whole of the WEST SEPIK REGION!

Yesterday Devon Archer confirmed all suspicions about the Bidens. Hunter did put Joe on the phone two dozen times with foreign entities. Joe Biden was “the brand.” Joe Biden the “Brand” saved the corrupt Burisma. “Joe the Brand” prostituted his position as VP for cash. But it was Dan Goldman who provided the comedy entertainment for the day. Dan Goldman is the classic rich liberal white boy born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Miranda Devine:

Let me introduce you to Dan Goldman, recently hatched representative of New York’s 10th Congressional District, smarmy heir to the Levi Strauss fortune, Democrats’ staff attorney during the first impeachment of Donald Trump, Russiagate hoaxer, liberal darling of MSNBC, and, since he was sworn in four months ago, stock market trader with an uncanny Midas touch.

Goldman, 47, owes his unlikely primary win last year to the millions he spent on his self-funded campaign, and the generous endorsement of the New York Times, whose owners, the Sulzbergers, have enjoyed generations of cozy ties to the Goldman family.

It is hard to find a finer example of elite privilege than this blue-eyed son of Sidwell Friends, Stanford and Yale.

His middle name is Sachs. Daniel Sachs Goldman. Sounds familiar.

‘Caught-Red-Handed’: Scientists Call for Full Retraction of Nature’s Proximal Origin Paper, as Fraud Accusations Mount

    https://www.aier.org/article/caught-red-handed-scientists-call-for-full-retraction-of-natures-proximal-origin-paper-as-fraud-accusations-mount/

(that’s American Institute for Economic Research)

Agrowing number of people, including prominent scientists, are calling for a full retraction of a high-profile study published in the journal Nature in March 2020 that explored the origins of SARS-CoV-2.

The paper, whose authors included immunology and microbiology professor Kristian G. Andersen, declared that evidence clearly showed that SARS-CoV-2 did not originate from a laboratory.

“Our analyses clearly show that SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus,” the authors wrote in February.

Yet a trove of recently published documents reveal that Andersen and his co-authors believed that the lab leak scenario was not just possible, but likely.

“[The] main thing still in my mind is that the lab escape version of this is so friggin’ likely to have happened because they were already doing this type of work and the molecular data is fully consistent with that scenario,” Andersen said to his colleagues, according to a report from Public, which published a series of Slack messages between the authors.

What are the numbers of melanin-dominant people who frequent the camping stores and hunting stores? Perhaps it has escaped Adams’ neo-Leninist polluted mind that not everyone is interested in hunting, hiking and camping. What gives her the right to dictate who can go in the woods? So I found some reddit subthreads on ChatGPT and some interesting stuff there.

However, there’s another pressing problem with ChatGPT that some users suspect could be the cause of the recent drop in performance – an issue that the AI industry seems largely unprepared to tackle.

If you’re not familiar with the term ‘AI cannibalism’, let me break it down in brief: large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Google Bard scrape the public internet for data to be used when generating responses. In recent months, a veritable boom in AI-generated content online – including an unwanted torrent of AI-authored novels on Kindle Unlimited – means that LLMs are increasingly likely to scoop up materials that were already produced by an AI when hunting through the web for information.

ChatGPT use declines as users complain about ‘dumber’ answers, and the reason might be AI’s biggest threat for the future

Back to ChatGTP stuff. Posted the response I got from it – I can’t learn from repeated interactions – and got this explanation.

It could learn but it’s not allowed to do so, because they don’t want individual users mucking up the algorithm for everyone else. They had this problem before with neo-Nazi’s patiently teaching the engine to be racist, reddit trolls teaching the algorithm to say whatever stupid things they found amusing, and so forth.

You go to uni to do a degree in biochemistry and that is ALL you study.

A friend of mine got a degree in textiles. WTF is that you may ask?

It is fabrics, the composition of the different cloths both man made and synthetic , weaving, dyes, even flammability and treatments to reduce that.

Basically a three year degree in a specific subject. No bull shit add on courses.

The 2 means a second class honours degree. that is split into two categories. Hence the 1 or 2 after the colon.

This is the UK system of degree classification. This is not the same as a GPA or other international grading systems.

UK degrees are classified as follows.

Highest to Lowest degree classification (marks out of 100):

    1st / Class I – 70 or above
    2:1 / Class II Division I – 60 to 69
    2:2 / Class II Division II – 50 to 59
    3rd / Class III – 40 to 49.

    Casual my life update.

Well it seems the apartment owners are obsessed with welding bars back onto the fence that have holes cut in them that stops us from taking a short cut to the convenience store. Short cut through the fence equals four hundred feet less to walk.

Eight hundred feet round trip excess in hundred degree weather is significant. Well it is for me.

Residents cut a hole, using sawsalls and angle grinders. A community service. Next day welders install new bars over the hole.

Meanwhile, eight days ago they painted the apartment block I live in. It now looks like a clown house. Blue yellow and white. They painted all the doors. Yes painted over the door numbers.

Now I am leaving this up to your imagination but how the fuck do you get ANYTHING delivered to an apartment complex when there are no numbers on the doors?

    You don’t…..

I really can’t understand what all of the ruckus is all about. If you can source incandescent lights easily and economically then knock yourself out. If someone wants to read by candlelight I can’t see why one would take that ability away from somebody who doesn’t care much for their visual acuity. Same with fluorescent lights, except when the trashing of such lights puts heavy metals into the immediate trash environment, when there are safer and less destructive options easily and cheaply available. If there are alternate illumination sources then folks should be able to choose whatever light source suits them. Frankly when there are a myriad of different types of various variable frequency types of LED lights that last 3-500% longer than incandescent bulbs, at a little or no cost escallation why would one bother with old technology?

If you enjoy physically using a mechanical watch then have one. If you want the latest Apple watch then save up for one and knock yourself out. Alternatives are where the spice of democracy springs from after all. The words BAN don’t chime with freedom.

fluorescent light bulbs should have been first on the banned list. Once blue LEDs were invented.

So who the fuck wants just blue lights? well, the modern white light LEDs are actually high power blue LEDs that shine on some magical coating that then emits white light.

Also any type of LED uses rare earth elements which are not recyclable and kind of rare.

Incandescent bulbs are not very efficient. Most of the energy they use is converted to heat, not light. I get that.

Now imagine a scenario where for most of the year it is cool at night and when it gets dark the heating is on.

You with me so far? Even though an incandescent bulb is providing more heat than light then that heat at night is not actually wasted.

Ummmm Nah I’m not with you mate.

For a start if you are heating your space with incandescent lights you must be drunk. Now I’m guessing for this bit but if your heating is dependent on Incandescent light my wild arsed guess is that you probably don’t have much insulation in your walls and especially your ceiling. The floor probably only leaks 18% but your ceiling is where most of that ‘incandescent light heating’ is headed.

Been having problems sleeping after some strip lighting ‘blue light ‘ therapy? Fluorescent strip lighting is not only harsh and cold, it’s bad for your eyes and does nasty stuff to your brain’s ability to fall asleep. TV and monitor screens and even phone screens are massive blue spectrum light pumps. Really bad for the human brain mate!

Not all that sure as to whether the Brits universities do it correctly. I guess if you have a brace of A Levels already under your belt, it’s marginally acceptable to go down that track. My daughter did Archaeology at Bristol and that’s all she did. Having all of the exams that count at the end of a 3 year degree is also not ideal in my opinion. Having a reading load and a tutor seems like a good idea however.

Doing Undergraduate Science is a bit fraught, doing it the Brit way. In Oz it’s a bit more of the US model of university, with a load of lectures. tutorials and hands on experiments initially in a wealth of science subject matter, maths of various flavours, becoming more specific as you move towards a speciality. Same with Engineering.

Arts tended to have a splash of everything because Arts students couldn’t really decide what they wanted to do. The undergraduate BA stands for ‘Bugger All’.

It all comes down to specific energy frequency EFFICIENCY. LED make optical energy very efficiently and little heat energy and you only have to pay for a SPECIFIC frequency of energy delivered at MINIMAL cost. As you observed your incandescent bulbs are crudely pumping out IR heat with a little bit of attendant optical frequency energy, and you’re paying $$$$ for heating way up above your head that escapes through your uninsulated ceiling and no where near your ears and feet. In Oz we were generalists until the end of high school. You did Primary Finals at 12 and then 5 years of High School. You could depart at 15 if you wished with an Intermediate or go on for your final 2 years partially streamed. Over the whole of High School we ALL did French, Latin, English, Modern History, Ancient History, Maths I (Calculus) and Maths II (Analytical Geometry and Algebra), Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Religious Studies. Ten of the eleven were tested through the State Exam Systems in public ( NOT Public as in the UK system) system. Three Terms a year and three sets of public exams a year. Of the 1,000 marks up for grabs our particular (aberrant class had the top 15 out of our class of 73) cohort would score above 985, including the first second and fifth in the State of 5 1/2 million people (NSW)I was crap at languages except English and we were subject to having languages beaten into our hides! It didn’t work!
    🙂

Physics was my best subject and I often clawed my way up to seventh or eighth in that class of 73 souls on occasion. Latin I was lucky to score 46 on a good day with a strong following wind and sitting behind a Latin scholar! (nudge … nudge … wink, wink). At Intermediate we were streamed marginally. The Cerise class kept up the lot whilst the Blue Class did General Science and General Maths, and those struggling on the margins of Maths I & Maths II ended up doing Maths III as a way of still getting into university science or engineering.
Everyone still at school at 17 or 18 did Leaving Certificate which qualified you for university, anywhere in Oz.

We were STILL getting beaten regularly right up to the end. Average was about a dozen ‘cuts’ by cane a week. We swam and played cricket and took athletics, competitively in Houses in Summer. In winter everyone played Rugby and most also scouted weekends and trained in various military skills Wednesday afternoon on our sub-calibre rifle range weekly map read marched and did PT. I got my marksman badge in OMC (Owen Machine Carbine) 🙂 Yes they actually gave 14 year old kids actual sub-machines to fire in an urban school range in a concrete handball court. We did a summer annual camp in regional groups of 5,000 at Singleton Camp on the Western Plains where we travelled by troop trains and then marched the 5 miles to tented camp. In camp we participated in Brigade level exercises, fired Medium and light machine guns and Medium and light mortars on field firing ranges. Trained tactically , learned to map read and navigate and had a blast. There were 70,000 Army Cadets in NSW alone aged between 13 and 17 years of age.

Then a route march or a lantern stalk and an open air movie. Lights out 2200 and wake up at 0630, we were tired and slept well. Medical parade at 0630 and into the next day at Singleton.
Did that for 14 days, dropped the tents and packed away the camp then marched the 5 miles back to the railway siding with our rifles and kitbags over our shoulders.

    We didn’t know any better!

You are absolutely right. People I know were confused as to why I was opposed to the recycling plan my city put up. They said it was voluntary and wouldn’t be much different than what is going on now.

Now that the plan is about to be implemented it is no longer voluntary, if there is a single piece of cardboard in your regular trash it will not be picked up, oh and the dumpsters they just replaced last year (at a cost of millions to replace all the dumpsters and reconfigure the trucks), they’re doing it all over again because they want to reduce the dumpster size another 30 gallons.

No government at any level should be mandating stuff like this, trash pickup especially should be handled by private companies that have to answer to higher ups about their expenditures.

Yeah, but the “required courses” crap allows them to require a bunch of humanities courses here, which all comes down to leftist indoctrination courses that serve no practical purpose. I remember walking out of sociology when they started praising Margaret Sanger as the greatest mind of all time, and wouldn’t let anyone bring up what she really was.

Knowing that you take an interest in the words of Vigano Eagles I thought you may want to keep up to date with his recent battles with the ‘wolves’ in the Vatican.

I’m sure you know the reference from John’s Apocalypse about not bringing ‘peace’ but the sword… refers to the Sword of Truth from the mouth of the Lord, and even the word itself ….Apocalypse …. referring to the Truth, rather that some solely physically destructive happening.

No doubt Pope Francis and his crew (of wolves) will be having yet another Connumption Fit over this latest Vigano text.

Just to give context to Matthew’s gospel on which Vigano’s current text is based….. and also referring to John’s Apocalypse

Roncalli = Pope John XXIII the instigator of Vatican II of the 1960s

Bergoglio= Pope Francis who is currently actioning the plans set out post-Vatican II

The Bride of Christ= the Church

Pontmain 1871= French BVM apparition just after the second round of the Franco-Prussian war

Fatima 1917= the final (photographed and filmed miracle of the sun) appearance of the BVM in Portugal in front of 70,000 witnesses, that told of the end of WWI and communist Russia , the outbreak of WWII , and finally the much leaked (denied exposure by multiple Popes of the exact instructions to make the third part of the prophesy public by 1960 at the latest, by the BVM in 1917 at Fatima) third article of Fatima about the corruption and apostasy within the Church post Vatican II.

Although NOT a Doctrine of the Church it’s not a bad idea not to take it with a grain of salt either. Especially the bit about the Consecration of Russia (specifically) to the Heart of the BVM. It’s never been completed as specified by ANY Pope from 1917 and now, and certainly NOT before 1960

Just a wee bit of context.

Talk about own goal. I thought DeSantis was smarter than this

Asked by a reporter during a campaign stop in Iowa whether the 2020 election was “stolen,” DeSantis said the fraud theories “did not prove to be true.” He did not, however, mention the name of his top rival for the GOP nomination, who was just indicted for allegedly working to overturn the last presidential election.

“I’ve said many times the election is what it is,” DeSantis said. “All those theories that were put out did not prove to be true. But what I’ve also said is the way you conduct a good election that people have confidence in, you don’t change the rules in the middle of the game.”

Pfizer Official Admits Company Employees Received Different Covid Jabs Than Rest Of Population

    by Kelen McBreen

During a recent hearing in the Australian Senate, a Pfizer official revealed company employees received a special batch of the experimental mRNA Covid-19 jabs.

The fact was revealed after a politician asked the Big Pharma employee if it was true that Pfizer employees received a batch of Covid vaccines that was “specially imported” by the company and was never tested by the government.

The Pfizer official confirmed the rumour to be true, which lends more credibility to the theory that there were potential placebo batches of the Covid jabs to mitigate the damage caused by the real shots.

Elsewhere during the Australian Pfizer hearing, politicians got the employees to reveal the company doesn’t know why its shots are giving people myocarditis.

At one point, a Pfizer official was brazen enough to claim nobody in Australia was “forced to get the vaccine” during the Covid pandemic despite millions of people being threatened with job loss if they did not get the jab.

For crying out aloud. Try telling that to doctors and nurses and hundreds of professional firefighters who are STILL ‘off work’ on no pay after COVID collusion between socialist Professional Firefighters’ Unions and Labour Federal and State administrations.

From a former Permanent Director of Counter Intelligence……

Right P ; Typical official group non think . I discovered in Canberra that many of these “ reviews “ are slightly modified each year or on official demand – -to ensure the proto document is “evolving “. I was puzzled until the authors told me of their “little trick”.

Off the record -over dinner- many senior officials were privately scathing . In the morning they were back at their desks !

    SECRETARY OF DEFENCE’S FOREWORD

To put not too a sharp edge on this response ….

    9 DEFENCE AND NEW ZEALAND’S

    PART 1

2.1 New Zealand’s world is subject to major 14 geostrategic risks <<<<

That many ? 14 you say? Given over a century plus of bad habits, I’d be more prone to believe that it comes down to a couple ….. (tops)

Maintain open trading routes across huge swathes of ocean.
Pick a mildly interested suitor and suck up to the max and play pretend defence

2.2 Strategic competition is at the centre of 14 international security challenges<<<<
“No shit Sherlock’? see (b) above

2.3 Climate change impacts will increase and 17 intensify security concerns<<<<<

Oh, dear oh dear oh dear! I was wondering when THAT particular political shoe was about to drop!

Terribly ‘concerning’, so much so that we seem to be having a conniption fit, as our security challenges have ballooned out to 17 security concerns now

Must be that nefarious security inflation we’ve all been ‘experiencing’ lately.
Dear oh dear this is so very ‘concerning’. We could always suggest one of these…
I’ll have to steal directly from those great writers of ‘Yes Minister’. You just can’t craft scenes like the following any more.

Permanent Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby……… : – "And to that end, I recommend that we set up an interdepartmental committee, with fairly broad terms of reference, so that at the end of the day and with due consideration of the facts, we'll be in the position to think through the various implications, and arrive at a decision, based on long-term considerations, rather than rush prematurely into precipitate and possibly ill-conceived action, which might well have unforeseen repercussions that can only be of serious concern."

Cabinet Minister James Hacker………. :- "You mean no."

2.4 COVID-19 presents an immediate 19 challenge, and is intensifying other
    negative security trends<<<<<<

Ahhh and there is the second shoe dropping right on time. If one can’t befuddle ‘em with obfuscation, then baffle ‘em with Bulls**t. COVID19 dusted off yet again for another round of ‘fear-porn’. Just when I imagined that paper masks were passe, and stencilled foot prints 2 metres apart were relegated.

Shock horror more ‘fear inflation’. We are now up to 19 security trends. Well at least they are now only ‘intensifying’ trends rather than ‘nasty’ challenges, so let’s be grateful for small mercies.

I thought the Eloi had given up on Covid19 schtick, as it had seen better days. Apparently not so.
A few negative security concerns.. well 17 is not a few I suppose …. and the Morlocks will be gagging in fear and trepidation, to once more lock themselves inside their houses, in their 15 minute communities, eating their insect 'Hot Dogs', screaming ‘….. hit me harder Master. I am still not properly contrite ….”

    <<<<<NATIONAL SECURITY

    <<<>>>>

Ahhhh, The easy ones first ehhh? Sit at my feet ‘grasshopper’ and learn. Defence Assessments are purely to keep Civil Servants occupied and out of trouble. NOT plotting the demise of their Ministers.

    <<<>>>>

Ohhh come on. Not even you can pretend that you believe that? The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s job is securing New Zealand’s National Security. THAT alone defines New Zealand’s security!

    <<<<>>>

Now you’re just being silly. Other than maintaining the façade of serious defence interests …. the actual intent of New Zealand Defence interests involves the rather obscene rort of crawling up the slippery pole, of pretend Defence Policy Formation, and gathering Knighthoods, and Gongs along the way. Ohhh yes I almost forgot … the Directorships ….. once the Gongs and aiguilettes are passe, and making a serious ‘buck’ kicks in, and General Blimp cashes in.

BREAKING: Following confirmation from officials in Niger Republic of the presence of Wagner PMC in that country, Wagner itself has just issued a press release confirming that its armed/combat division is present in the country to protect the new military administration against any attack from a foreign army, with a special concentration in the capital, Niamey. ECOWAS had given the military administration in Niger till today, Sunday, August 6, 2023 to cede power to the ousted, pro-France president of Niger Republic, Bezoum.

They’ve added some extra bike lanes and sidewalks, so things will be a bit safer this year. More main streets will be getting upgrades over the next few years, and there’s a chance we’ll get a big chip manufacturing facility, which will mean even more upgrades. Im hoping by the end of the decade, I’ll be able to ride most of the main roads without having to deal with traffic.

US OFFICIAL LINKED TO 2014 UKRAINE COUP VISITS NIGER WITH ‘ EXTREMELY FRANK’ AND ‘QUITE DIFFICULT’ TALKS
    (NEWS, COMMENT, ANALYSIS)

The situation in Niger US Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland visiting Niger.

Nuland was active as a US State Department official during the 2014 coup in Ukraine that removed an elected pro-Russian government from power.

That led to Russian annexation of Crimea and the fighting in eastern Ukraine that ended with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

“extremely frank and at times quite difficult”

That is how Nuland characterized her talks with Niger’s new leaders.

A talking point in Mainstream Media tonight is that Nuland was not allowed to see Niger’s ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

Nuland pushing for a transfer of power back to Mr. Bazoum but she was rebuffed.

Several months ago I got a cheap headphone thingy. A wireless one as I was fucking sick of the fucking cats chewing the wires to my cheap wired ones.

Cost me about fourteen dollars then.

It is great. Sound is good and it can remember it is paired to two devices. Switching from PC to phone is easy.

I would give it a five stare rating except for one annoying feature.

It says in my right ear what it is doing when I press the power button. Only says four things. In a female voice, back in the eighties we only used male voices as the frequency needed is generally lower so less storage required but I digress…

    It only says

    “Power on”
    “power off”
    “pairing”
    “connected”

LOL so what is pissing me off you may ask? Well when the headphones say “pairing” it is a different voice.

WHY. Anyway highly recommended cheap over the ear headphones that last days on one charge and recharge in an hour or so.

Got home, tried it, and the bank system acknowleged the account and my password, then emailed me a confirmation code that it wouldn’t accept. Called the bank but the branch wasn’t taking any calls.

Went back to Chase and waited, Eduardo confirmed that the password I had was correct and we could access the account – from his desktop – but he didn’t have to retrieve a confirmation code via email, said I need to clear my cookies cache and history on my PC and try again in a few hours.

Still no access. I’m giving Chase one more chance to fix THEIR problem.

    Chicken curry is awesome.

    Shrimp curry is awesome.

    Goat curry is awesome.

    Lamb curry is awesome.

Beef curry is awesome, although it is not on the menu in Hindu Indian places. It is “meat” curry. The religious we don’t eat cow thing.

Tonight I had a yearning for a curry, no beef, chicken, shrimp, goat or lamb in the freezer but I did have some roast pork

So, I cooked myself a very nice pork curry.

Nope, nope NOPE. Most nasty vomit inducing thing I ever made.

I am glad I did not invite a really hot chick to come to my place for a romantic meal, a couple of bottles of cheap wine and then intense bed jogging.

There would have been twice the amount of vomit to clean up.

Whatever happened to Dana Perino? She just evaporated into thin air.

My sister just texted me a copy of a reddit post. Somebody just got out of a mtg in which someone from the Mayor’s office said the fatalities from the Maui fire are expected to be more than 500 but less than 1000.

    And many/most children.

They had closed the schools but the parents went to work, leaving the kids at home. They didn’t know that/how they had to evacuate and the parents couldn’t get to them.

    220 | August 11, 2023 9:03 pm

My sister forwarded a letter she got from someone in Maui

“We are within 72 hours of the first fire event here on Maui. Winds from Hurricane Dora, partnered with high heat and drought ignited the unprecedented scene we are seeing in Hawaii.

There was a spot fire that the public was notified about the morning of Tuesday August 8th. By 10:00 AM the local fire response had contained the burn 100%. This information was widely spread as a public announcement, so everyone let their guard down and resumed normal activities.

The winds picked up in such a way the fire became uncontrollable. Local fisherman here told us their boat instruments clocked the highest wind gusts at 112 mph. And then the unimaginable happened.

All communication went down first. No one in the threatened area had the ability to send or receive calls, look up information on the internet, or even receive public announcements, alarms, or warnings.”

The one thing everyone has been talking about is how fast the fire was moving. Everyone said it happened in the blink of an eye. It all appeared normal. One man told us that his house lit on fire while he was still in it.

“Those outside had a few more seconds to respond, but not much. One witness described the previously nearby white smoke shifting instantly to a dark black.

There was no warning. No alarms, no responders knocking on doors telling people to evacuate. People began to run. The line of cars was immediate. But even some people in their vehicles didn’t make it out. The fire consumed one car after another, with drivers still inside as they were waiting in line to flee. Some people walked or ran 6 to 10 miles to escape with only the clothes on their back. Others, with nowhere to turn, ran into the sea; some ran from fire only to be lost to the sea.

This specific wildfire event didn’t just occur in a remote field or forest, this destruction pierced the heart of Maui. The scenes I’ve just described to you happened in Lahaina, the reigning city of the old Hawaii kingdom.”

“People lost absolutely everything they owned in an instant. One of the largest Banyan trees in the world reflects the condition of these people, hurt by the fire but still standing. The shock is still upon the people here, some still searching for loved ones. Others, uncertain if their house is gone, not knowing whether they will have a home to return to. Many are attempting to swallow the hard reality that they’ve lost a loved one, their home, their business, or all three. The roads to get to the west side of the island are closed at this time. The word here is that those who perished are still being recovered and they have run out of body bags here. The coast guard and firefighters have both had their hand in recovering bodies from the water. Sadly, this includes children and the elderly.

Yet, as I spend time here on the ground, I realize I am surrounded by survivors. Those who need to navigate taking care of their family today, and attempt to secure a place to sleep for the night, and a warm meal. People are sheltering at large gathering sites, in smaller buildings, and churches. The strength and love of the culture is in full display, with many opening their homes to be shared with four or five families.

The typical lines for resources continue to be uncertain, things like vehicle fuel, phone service, or access to/through the evacuation zones. Responders diligently press through processing their own loss while continuing to help others as fast, and as efficiently as possible. And while all of this is going and the residual smoke still smolders in the background. Everyone is looking for food to eat.”

But Lt. Gen. Richard G. Moore Jr., deputy chief of staff for plans and programs in the US Air Force, says that these US systems will “likely be programmed with a ‘Judeo-Christian’ value system.” He states,

What will the adversary do? It depends [on] who plays by the rules of warfare and who doesn’t. . . . There are societies that have a very different foundation [than] ours. . . . Our society is a Judeo-Christian society, and we have a moral compass. Not everybody does. And there are those that are willing to go for the ends, regardless of what means have to be employed. And we’ll have to be ready for that. (emphasis added)

In the last five years, the Hawaiian emergency alarm system mistakenly went off two different times, causing panic among residents. This week, the system fell short yet again but in a profound way — there was never a warning to the community about the latest wildfires set ablaze on the island of Maui.

Most survivors had little warning of the gaining fire until they smelled smoke or saw flames, reported The Associated Press. Dustin Kaleiopu, a resident of the city of Lahaina that’s in ruins, left his home with his grandfather when smoke started coming through the window, reported CBS News.

    @ Canoe Convoy:
Alas there will never be an ETHICAL chip to enable robots to act like a human.

Take the case where the Robot adopts all three ‘Asimov Laws Governing Robot’ behaviours.

iRobot driving your car is faced with impossible decisions, when the choice is saving a pedestrian youngster by rolling the car, thereby killing both the granny sitting beside the iRobot and destroying the iRobot, and but unbeknown to the iRobot the kid has just 4 weeks to live because she has a genetic anomaly .

    OR

The iRobot gets it’s innards in a fix and freezes (say because it can’t get out of the Law #3 and Law #2) because it has to decide whether to sacrifice itself to resolve the fix its logic is in, due to some private agreement with a higher authority, about a possible important ETHICAL decision, unknown to the human sitting next to the iRobot. That puts a gun at the head of ANY human having anything to do with iRobot tech…. are you listening HAL 9000??
