Congressional Black Caucas Praise Castro After Meeting With Him

It is news to me that Congressmen can legally meet with Fidel Castro, in Cuba none-the-less, but not surprising that they would.  The amount of praise they heap on Castro, and the terms they use to describe him however are alarming.  It reminds me of the Red Cross after they met with Jews in Teresenstadt during WW2 and then filed reports about how well they were being treated by the Nazis.  In his book, “The Case For Democracy”, Natan Sharansky describes this same phenomenon regarding the Western left, and their descriptions of Communism after meeting with State controlled handlers in The Soviet Union.

[CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee (D-Ca.)] and others heaped praise on Castro, calling him warm and receptive during their discussion. But the lawmakers disputed Castro’s later statement that members of the congressional delegation said American society is still racist.

“It was quite a moment to behold,” Lee said, recalling her moments with Castro.

“It was almost like listening to an old friend,” said Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Il.), adding that he found Castro’s home to be modest and Castro’s wife to be particularly hospitable.

“In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor,” Rush said.

Rep. Laura Richardson (D-Ca.) said Castro was receptive to President Obama’s message of turning the page in American foreign policy.

“He listened. He said the exact same thing” about turning the page “as President Obama said,” said Richardson.

In a statement following the meeting today, Castro said that the delegation had expressed to him that a segment of American society “continues to be racist,” and is at least partly to blame for the travel restrictions.

But the delegation this evening said those remarks were not expressed in the meeting.

“That did not happen,” Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.), told reporters.

I wonder if they asked Mr. Castro about this quote of his “The universities are available only to those who share my revolutionary beliefs.”Fidel Castro

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Said the night wind to the little lamb,
“Do you see what I see?
Way up in the sky, little lamb,
Do you see what I see?
A star, a star, dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite,
With a tail as big as a kite.”

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy,
“Do you hear what I hear?
Ringing through the sky shepherd boy,
Do you hear what I hear?
A song, a song, high above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea,
With a voice as big as the sea.”

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king,
“Do you know what I know?
In your palace warm, mighty king,
Do you know what I know?
A Child, a Child, shivers in the cold;
Let us bring him silver and gold,
Let us bring him silver and gold.”

Said the king to the people everywhere,
“Listen to what I say!
Pray for peace, people everywhere,
Listen to what I say!
The Child, the Child, sleeping in the night,
He will bring us goodness and light,
He will bring us goodness and light.”

“Bring us Light!”

Some interesting trivia: This song was written during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a plea for peace.

Our Good friend China’s President visits Cuba

It really makes me sick that we depend on China for so much of our products. This is a result of disastrous Free Trade policies that have crippled our Industrial base, stagnated our wages and decimated our Middle Class.

I detest the policies of Bush I, Clinton and Bush II for what they did. They have a created a monster in China and now we owe then trillions and they have us by the balls. They know this and mock us by visiting our enemies like Cuba!

Castro serenades China’s Hu on landmark Cuba visit

China’s President Hu Jintao made a landmark visit to Cuba Tuesday, bearing millions of dollars in aid and promises of closer future trade ties.

The Chinese leader brought 4.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid for victims of three hurricanes that battered Cuba this year, which was handed over late Monday after Hu’s arrival at the Jose Marti International Airport.

Receiving the gift, Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation Rodrigo Malmierca said that Cuba “deeply appreciates the visit of President Hu Jintao, at the exact moment the country is struggling to recover and continue its development.”

It was the third donation China has made to assist Cuba in its recovery from hurricanes Gustav, Ike and Paloma, which caused 10 billion dollars worth of damages in the space of two months. Hurricane aid from the Chinese government and businesses has totalled more than 2.5 million dollars.

Later he accompanied President Raul Castro on a visit to a school for Chinese students, where the Cuban leader sang snippets of a song in Chinese praising late Communist Party Leader Mao Zedong.

Cuban and Venezuelan leaders welcomed the news of Barack Obama’s huge win on Tuesday.
Iran Press TV reported:

Cuba and Venezuela, two countries known for their criticism of US policies are now expressing satisfaction over Barack Obama’s victory.

“If Obama takes some action to ease the embargo, it would be welcomed and of course it would be of help, but we’re prepared for conditions to remain the same,” Cuba’s Foreign Investment Minister Marta Lomas said Wednesday in a statement.

There is optimism about Obama’s declaration during his campaign that he would be ready to talk about easing restrictions on travel and on remittances the money US Cubans send to family and friends in Cuba.

Former Cuban leader Fidel Castro who remains first secretary of the ruling Communist Party, on Tuesday called Obama “intelligent, well-educated and composed” in an endorsement released in the official press.

Meanwhile… Iran is urging Barack Obama to keep his promises and make fundamental changes in US foreign policy.
Iran is looking forward to a US troop withdrawal from the region.
