The Case for George Pataki

George Pataki is considering a run. After drinking at bar in the Chelsea area of NYC during the last Presidential debate, he felt he can do better than those running. I agree with his sentiment.

Pataki is a formidable campaigner. He defeated Progressive icon Mario Cuomo in 94. During his term as Governor, taxes didn’t go up as much as they usually would. He has a very serious demeanor, something Conservatives are looking for. He has a history of working well with Democrats, this prevented taxes from going up as much the Dems would like. Pataki was even endorsed by the SEIU in NY! He has experience and is a rational man. America is ready for Pataki!

Admit it: when you heard that George Pataki was preparing a presidential campaign, you thought you heard wrong. Then you laughed. And then you laughed a little louder.

It’s O.K. You’re not alone. Plenty of New Yorkers very likely had the same reaction, just as they did four years ago when Mr. Pataki spent a few ill-advised months chasing votes in Iowa and New Hampshire before quietly giving up.

[…]

Enter, perhaps, George Pataki, a three-term governor of New York who may not rank among the giants of Albany, but who certainly can articulate a more tolerant, more sane Republican agenda. Mr. Pataki was hardly a fiscal conservative as governor, but he did cut taxes, and he did stand up for immigrants’ and women’s rights, and he was quite a good governor on environmental and conservation issues.

George Pataki is a Republican in the fine tradition of Nelson Rockefeller and Richard Nixon. He believes that government can be managed better by Republican principles. Unlike the other Republicans, he is a true moderate with appeal for the center. He will not hesitate to raise taxes on the wealthy for the sake of a deal with Democrats!  He is reasonable unlike other Republicans.

When attacked by Barack Obama, Georgia Pataki will take the high road and show his maturity. This will prove to Americans he’s an adult. In a debate with Obama, Pataki will be mild mannered and show Obama respect. He’s a gentleman and this is what America needs and wants at the moment.

An added bonus to all this., Former NY Senator Al D’Amato will probably be the Chief of Staff in a Pataki Administration.

D’Amato was known for clean and open government. He will make sure a Pataki Administration is answerable to the voters and not special interests.

America is ready for George Pataki.

Let’s give Rockefeller Republicanism another shot!

George Pataki really considering a 2012 run

Move over Mitt Romney and John Huntsman, another Rockefeller Republican is set to join the race. Former failed Governor of NY, George Pataki is considering a Presidential Run. Rumors have been circulating throughout the year and it appears they were accurate.

A spokesman has confirmed that former Governor George Pataki is strongly considering entering the crowded race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Sources say Pataki, who left office in 2007, could make an announcement as early as next week.

If he were to run, Pataki would face several major obstacles including launching an operation with little campaign cash and facing several opponents who have been meeting voters in Iowa and New Hampshire for months.

This candidacy is a bigger joke than Huntsman’s. What the point of Pataki running? What does he bring to the table? This guy is a loser and will go nowhere.

Former Republican Governor George Pataki has no odds of winning the 2012 GOP nomination. He’s a Liberal Republican who drove NY into the ground. This isn’t stopping him from airing ads attacking Obama. Clearly it seems reports he’s planning on running for President are true!

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: PATAKI ON THE AIR. Former New York Gov. George Pataki hit the television airwaves in New Hampshire today with a new ad for his nonprofit advocacy group, “No American Debt.”

“Both parties got us here,” Pataki says in the ad, “reckless spending, record debt.”

But he then targets only President Barack Obama, accusing him of ignoring both his own bipartisan commission’s suggestions for reducing the deficit as well as attacking the GOP plan put forward by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan.

Pataki charges that Obama’s proposal is to “raise taxes and cut spending _ somewhere, someday.

“That’s no plan,” Pataki says, urging viewers to join his group.

No word yet is Bob Dole or Johnson McCain have announced their intentions of running.

Why does the GOP even take losers like this clown seriously? Ex NY governor George Pataki is said to be considering a run for the 2012 GOP Presidential nomination. This has to be a joke, this man started off as a Conservative, but ended up a Rockefeller Republican. He’s lame, ruined NY and has no appeal.

Former Gov. George Pataki held a secretive lunch with supporters yesterday, fueling speculation that he might make a 2012 run for president. Pataki and five friends met in a private room at restaurant Solo in Midtown. His rep said, “It was not a fund-raiser. He got together with some friends and supporters . . . They did talk about politics, they talked about the future.” As for a presidential run? “He’s going to look at the field and look at what he’s got going on, and make a decision based on those facts. He certainly hasn’t ruled it out.” But a source said, “His name is really low on the chatter list.”

Why is the Republican Party full for retreads? He should have had run fro President in 2000 when he was still relevant. Now he’s trying to pull a Brett Farve like comeback. We know how that ended! Will the GOP bring Bob Dole back at this point?
