Hillary throws fellow Americans under the bus to please Tunisians

The Popular Uprisings known as the Arab Spring were supported by Western elites. Western allies like Mubarak, Qaddafi and Zine El Ebidine Ben Ali were overthrown. Their replacements were the Muslim Brotherhood or its many offshoots. What is clearly going on is the birth of a new Caliphate. The leading Republican candidates (except Ron Paul) have been discussing this as a foreign policy failure on the part of the False Messiah. In another sign of dhimmitude, Hillary Clinton tells Tunisians not to worry about GOP concern over recent developments in Arab countries. She said Republicans don’t represent America’s values.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton advised an audience in Tunisia on Saturday to “not pay attention” to the comments made by candidates vying for the Republican presidential nomination, saying the often overheated rhetoric of the campaign doesn’t reflect U.S. policy.

Speaking at a town-hall style event in Tunisia, the North African nation that sparked the “Arab Spring” revolts, Clinton said the partisan remarks made during campaign events “certainly don’t reflect the United States, don’t reflect our foreign policy, don’t reflect who we are as a people.”

Clinton’s remarks came in response to a question from a member of her audience who said he was troubled by some of the comments, which he considered anti-Muslim, made by candidates running for president.

So the Tunisian is worried about Republicans pointing out the sinister agenda of the Arab Spring. He expects Americans to accept militant Islam spreading. Does anyone think this Tunisian cares about the Coptic Christians being killed in Egypt as a result of this Popular Uprising? Nope and rather than point out what is wrong with the Arab Spring Hillary throws fellow Americans under the bus.

This is just another act of dhimmitude on the part of this regime. The False Messiah said he would stand with the Muslims and he is keeping his promise..

Real and Perceived Consequences of Shale Gas Development

There has been a dramatic increase in the numbers of shale gas wells drilled in the U.S. during the past ten years. The most prolific shale gas fields are the Barnett (north central Texas), Haynesville (northeastern Texas and western Louisiana) and the Marcellus (portions of Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York). Hydraulic fracturing (fracing) of the producing formation is the process by which high volumes of water are pumped downhole under high pressures in order to fracture the productive formation thereby releasing the gas to production.

As one would expect, the anti-fossil fuel green crowd and their lawyers have sought to do everything in their power to block drilling in these new gas fields. Their main ploy has been to claim that fresh groundwater has been polluted as a result of the fracing process. The main and simple truth of the matter is that (as illustrated above) the groundwater formation, just below the surface,  is cased with surface casing pipe. Additionally, the entire production string is cased from the producing zone to the wellhead . The producing formation which is fraced, is a mile and a half below the groundwater formation. The idea that fracing a well causes ground water contamination has as much merit as someone who lives a mile away from you claiming that their ceiling leaks every time you flush your toilet.

The University of Texas’ Energy Institute last week concluded and published the results of an exhaustive investigation into many issues related to shale gas development. Their conclusions pretty much mirror what industry experts have been saying for years. The findings

Researchers found no evidence of aquifer contamination from hydraulic fracturing chemicals in the subsurface by fracturing operations, and observed no leakage from hydraulic fracturing at depth.

Many reports of groundwater contamination occur in conventional oil and gas operations (e.g., failure of well-bore casing and cementing) and are not unique to hydraulic fracturing.

Methane found in water wells within some shale gas areas (e.g., Marcellus) can most likely be traced to natural sources, and likely was present before the onset of shale gas operations.

Surface spills of fracturing fluids appear to pose greater risks to groundwater sources than from hydraulic fracturing itself.

Blowouts — uncontrolled fluid releases during construction or operation — are a rare occurrence, but subsurface blowouts appear to be under-reported.

The study further shows that public perception of the fracing process has been negatively impacted by the overwhelmingly negative reporting by the biased and scientifically ignorant press.

Energy Institute researchers analyzed print, broadcast and online news media coverage of shale gas development in the Marcellus, Haynesville, and Barnett shale areas. They found that the tone of media coverage has been overwhelmingly negative in all forms of media. Roughly two-thirds of the articles and stories examined were deemed negative, a finding that was consistent nationally and at local levels.

Researchers also found that less than 20% of newspaper articles on hydraulic fracturing mention scientific research related to the issue. Similarly, only 25% of broadcast news stories examined made reference to scientific studies, and about 33% of online news coverage mentioned scientific research on the issue.

Don’t take my word for it. Read the entire article here.

A Few Words From Uncle Ted: The Great Keystone XL Pipeline Massacre

The Nuge shares some thoughts regarding Obama’s decision to delay the Keystone XL Pipeline until a more politically opportune time.

President Obama’s decision to put a bullet in the back of the head of the Keystone XL pipeline is all the proof you need to know that his modus operandi is to sidle up to environmental green-energy crackpots instead of creating thousands of American jobs and honestly pursuing energy independence for America.

What the Great Keystone XL Pipeline Presidential Massacre of 2012 affirms is the president’s out-of-touch energy policy: Oil is bad. The sun and wind are good. This policy, of course, is dumb and dumber.

After whacking the pipeline, Mr. Obama would have us believe that more time and more environmental studies need to be conducted. What a convenient political move, what a convenient lie.

The pipeline already has been studied for three years. The president elected to whack the pipeline even after his very own Obama-controlled Fedzilla energy and environmental agencies reported to him that the pipeline would have “no serious impact to the environment” and recommended to get it on.

As always, a great piece by Ted. Read the whole article here.

Why libs are dangerous: USS Essex unable to fulfill mission for 2nd time in seven months

This is what happens when America-hating liberal scumbag POS’s like Obama, Reid, and Pelosi are in charge of defense spending, or should I say when they’re allowed to gut defense spending for their welfare programs to give more of our dollars to their voters, the leeches and parasites of America.

I joined the Navy right after President Reagan was elected, and when I got to my squadron, we had 12 P-3 ASW (anti-sub warfare) aircraft. We were lucky if we could get five of them in the air due to lack of parts and having to scavenge parts off of the other planes to get those five into the air.

USS Essex unable to fulfill mission for 2nd time in seven months

SASEBO NAVAL BASE, Japan — For the second time in seven months, mechanical or maintenance issues have prevented the USS Essex from meeting a commitment at sea, Navy officials said Wednesday.

The 21-year-old flagship of the forward deployed Expeditionary Strike Group 7 was scheduled to depart several days ago for Cobra Gold 2012, an annual exercise with Thailand. The mission was scrapped due to an equipment failure.

“It is true, the Essex will not be making Cobra Gold,” Task Force 76 spokesman Lt. Richard Drake said. “The cause is wear and tear.”

The Essex, known as the Iron Gator, is scheduled to undergo a hull swap with its sister ship USS Bonhomme Richard next month.

The scrapped mission is the latest in a series of problems for Navy ships. More than one-fifth of Navy ships fell short of combat readiness in the past two years, and fewer than half of the service’s deployed combat aircraft are ready for their missions at any given time, according to congressional testimony.

With an ascendant China on the high seas and deep Defense Department budget cuts over the next decade, the Navy is facing “glaring deficiencies that are nothing short of alarming,” U.S. Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., chairman of the House Readiness Subcommittee said in July.

Vice Adm. William Burke, deputy chief of naval operations for fleet readiness and logistics, told the committee that the Navy has “a limited supply of forces.”

“When you have these additional deployments, you sometimes impact the maintenance, or you impact the training, which will impact the maintenance,” he said. “So what we have is one event cascading into another, so we don’t get either of them quite right.”

About the time leaders were testifying before Congress, the Essex was limping back into port due to maintenance issues shortly after departing for biannual exercise Talisman Sabre 2011 with the Australians, Navy officials said at the time. It was able to participate in the exercises as a remote command element.

Navy officials said there are many reasons a ship like the Essex might have issues.

Forward-deployed ships in the region experience higher operational tempo and advanced wear and tear as they have a lot more to do than their stateside brethren, often missing scheduled maintenance, Navy officials said.

Lt. Anthony Falvo, 7th Fleet spokesman, said the Essex may have been impacted by missing maintenance.

“Pacific Fleet ships adhere to rigorous maintenance standards and maintenance periodicities per the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual and other Navy directives,” Falvo wrote in an email to Stripes. “On any given day we have roughly 40% of our ships underway and we are meeting the requirements of the combatant commanders.”

Drake would not specify what piece of equipment failed on the Essex, but said it was not the engine. He added that the ship could get underway if it had to, but it is better to fix the piece of equipment now.

“It will be back up and running in time for its next commitment,” Drake said.

The Essex has been in the area for 11 years, Drake said, and provided humanitarian relief to Indonesian victims of the devastating tsunami in 2005, survivors of the Leyte mudslide in the Philippines a year later and victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March of last year.

“The Essex is no spring chicken,” Drake said.
