Putin announces his plan for the next 6 years.

Do note: he is being positive, what Russia CAN do, not focusing on negatives like many of our politicians do.

Vladimir Putin has addressed the United Russia party convention on Saturday with almost an hour-long speech, in which he actually announced his election platform, after Dmitry Medvedev promoted the premier for president.

Drastic GDP growth as economic priority

He started with the economy. Putin believes Russia GDP growth should be increased to 6-7 per cent a year. Presently Russia’s economic growth is about 4 per cent, while for most developed economies the figure stands at 1-2 per cent.

“But we shouldn’t be mistaken in this regard, in absolute terms, this 2 per cent is bigger than our four.” That is why he said acceleration of the economy is needed. Otherwise, Russia will not be able to provide modern life standards for its citizens.

He added that in the next few years Russia will be able to join the top five of the world’s greatest economies.

In the next five years the country will be able to secure its full food independence, to a large degree thanks to the fact that “Russia is bringing back its leader status in the grain market.”

Putin said he intends to further improve the business climate, “providing conditions for fair competition, stability and predictability of economic policy.”

He added that all “bills dealing with the interests of business will be discussed with business community in order to rule out the possibility of new barriers for business initiative.”

Vladimir Putin also wants business to be more involved in social projects, culture and education.

“In a word, we expect that business to live in the same rhythm and have the same concerns at heart as the entire country,” he said.

In this regard, he also touched upon tax policies.

“If we talk about social justice, taxes for the rich (and there are more and more of them) should be higher than for the middle class,” Putin stated.

Changes in government

Putin said that he was sure that after the victory in parliamentary elections Dmitry Medvedev is capable of building an effective team of managers and chairing the government.

“I am sure that United Russia will win and, with the support of the whole population, Dmitry Anatolyevich [Medvedev] would be able to create a new, effectively functioning, young and energetic team of managers and head the government of the Russian Federation in order to continue the work on modernization of all sides of our life,” Putin said.

Military should be fully re-armed in 5-10 years

Putin said that the Russian military forces should be fully re-armed in the nearest future.

“In the coming five to 10 years we must fully re-arm our army and navy,” the United Russia leader told the party convention.

He added that the task will be carried out not only by the state defense industry, but also by civilian engineering enterprises.

“I consider the growing state order on defense one of the most important modernization tools both for the defense industry and the whole Russian economy,” Putin said.

The prime minister promised that the state defense order would be drafted not for one year ahead, but for three years, to ensure the stable and rhythmical work of the defense industry. In Putin’s words, such a move would significantly improve the economic component in the enterprises’ work.

Strengthening civil society

Civil society should control the authorities, and initiatives in this sphere should be supported the premier is convinced.

“Today control over bureaucracy by civil society is especially important, as well as new initiative and new honest people in power,” Putin stressed. “We should not be afraid of such activities but, on the contrary, support them by all means.”

Infrastructure and housing as primary targets

Putin also said that road construction in Russian Federation must double in the next 10 years. He said that the infrastructure development would act as leverage for the development of all businesses.

“This is important for all citizens of our country,” Putin said.
Putin also suggested some radical measures to solve some social issues, especially such urgent problems as housing.

“I consider it reasonable to suggest that the future State Duma and the future government decide on the question to distribute free land that is now in federal property for co-operative development for all workers of the budget sphere without exception,” Putin said. “This will be right and just,” he added.

Putin said that the regional governments should also take part in this plan and develop the infrastructure in new settlements on their own expense. He said that the volumes of constructions must roughly double by 2016 and the newly erect houses must be modern and comfortable.
Putin also promised that mortgage rates will be reduced to 6.5-7 per cent in the short term.

“It is a market substance and I should talk about it prudently, but in the next few years we should reach the rate of 6.5-7 per cent rate on mortgages,” he said.

Millions of new jobs

In the next 20 years, 25 million jobs should be created, the PM stated.

“The country is alive when factories work, but they should operate on a new technological basis and in a brand new business environment. In industry and in the state-funded sector at least 25 million jobs will be created,” he said. “It is our common goal for the next 20 years.”

This is good news

One more victory for the Tea Party against the hated Democrats:

Another One Bites The Dust
Walsh formally unseats Bean in Illinois.
by John Hayward

11/16/2010

A close race formally ended in the Illinois 8th District tonight, as incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean conceded to Tea Party favorite Joe Walsh. Walsh had declared himself the winner on Election Night, but Bean waited for absentee ballots to be counted before delivering her concession.

Walsh had a difficult time on the campaign trail. He got sued by a former campaign manager for $20,000 in unpaid fees. The national Republican Party left his campaign for dead. Bean, an agile Democrat who specialized in ducking out of town hall meetings, was considered almost impossible to beat. Walsh played a solid ground game, making numerous public appearances and successfully linking Bean to excessive government spending, particularly ObamaCare.

At the beginning of October, the New York Times was giving Walsh only a 20% chance to win. He was able to beat those odds to improve the commanding Republican majority in the House. The local Daily Herald reports he won by 291 votes. As the presumptive winner, Walsh was already in Washington for freshman orientation.

Never make the mistake of thinking your vote doesn’t count. If nothing else, the tight elections of the last Decade have shown us that. Every legal vote is precious. We should be doing more to protect them against fraud, because when they are this close, a little fraud goes a long way. 2012 is coming. If you aren’t registered to vote (and you are a Conservative), shame on you. Go register. We need all the votes we can get.

Yeah. Stay home. Don’t vote, California.

Today, Tuesday, 8 June 2010, is California’s Primary election. For those of you on the west coast, the ballot initiatives are probably the most important of the mess.

As for me, I’m voting NO on every initiative except for Prop 13. It’s a good measure, and has no opposition. Owners of existing buildings should not be penalized by property tax reassessment for seismic retrofitting.

As for the candidates, Meg Whitman gets my vote for Republican nominee for governator, and conservative Chuck Devore deserves to go to the U.S. Senate. The other candidates for other seats don’t matter much.

Now, Steve Rocco is another story. I’m tempted to vote for him just for the hell of it because he pissed so many people off. Here’s a guy who was elected to the board of the Orange Unified School District without even campaigning. He beat out the other contenders with a pair of nothing, and once elected, it took weeks for the OUSD to find out who and where he was. He’s a bizarre dark stocking cap with black sunglasses who’s full of conspiracy theories, and was arrested for supposedly stealing a half-empty bottle of catsup from an OUSD cafeteria. Now he’s running for Public Administrator.

Sounds like a great candidate. Write in Bunk Strutts instead.

If and when I am elected, my first duty shall be to reduce my pay by 33%.  If I have to wear a tie in order to perform my duties, we’re talking  about a 25% reduction. Savings all around. Everyone who can prove that they voted for Bunk gets a voucher for a free drink at the watering hole of your choice. You got it. I’m buying a round for the house on my dime.

You can’t lose. After all, look at the alternatives.

Election Post for May 2010…pt 3. Wrap-it-up!

Well, here we are…the end of the first quarter in this big football game called politics. Halftime is in November, and the end of the game is in 2012 with the Big Election for President.

Its early in game and this is just a primary election but there are some very interesting races to watch. The races that i will be paying rather close attention to are the PA-12 Congressional Race, the PA Democrat primary race fore senator, and the FL Senate race. Why is Pennsylvania so important today in this off year election? PA is an excellent barometer of politics in America. James Carville rightly called the state politically schizophrenic and described it as two cities separated by Alabama.  PA is a microcosm of the US electorate, lefties on each East-West end with conservatives in the middle.

The most important race in PA, and one of the most important nationally is PA-12. Why is the grossly mis-shaped and gerrymandered PA-12 such and important race?  PA-12 was Abscam-famous John Murtha’s seat.  Murtha was the deliverer of much pork to the Johnstown, PA area. He, as leading member on House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee funneled tons of low paying defense jobs into his district in return for the undying support of the proletariats that gladly took the deal he offered. Well, it looks like the voters in PA-12 might just vote in a Conservative Republican Tim Burns instead of the Democrat crony that was hand picked from Mutha’s stable of party hacks and ward healers.  This race has national implications as a barometer of just how angry the voters are and how much reach the Tea Party and the Conservatives have. If the Dems lose PA-12, which they have held since the Depression, there will be much consternation and fear in the Democrat Party planning rooms.  PA-12 is a mix of rural and urban and this is going to be a close race, be ready for many voting ‘abnormalities’ and ‘irregularities’ from the thug-left in the rat-hole, rusted out old hulk of a steel town that is Johnstown. Nancy Pelosi herself had a fund raising diner for Dem candidate Critz…this race is huge.

The next race is the PA Democratic Primary race between Benedict Arlen Specter and some other Democrat hack. It looks like the Democrats in PA aren’t buying Specters song and dance…what? don’t they trust him?  If the Dems reject Specter, this should sent a nice message to the Dem leadership that no one is safe. However, it makes for a tough race in November, when it really counts…Unless Benedict Arnold cant stand to lose and runs ans an Indie…

Likely Republican nominee Pat Toomey still runs strongly against incumbent Senator Arlen Specter, but Pennsylvana’s U.S. Senate contest is a dead heat if his Democratic opponent is Congressman Joe Sestak.

The presumed Republican candidate for PA Governor Tom Corbett wins in all scenarios in November ending Democrat control of the Governor’s Mansion while the R’s retain control of the State Houses.

In Kentucky: Rand Paul, yes…scion of whack-job Ron Paul…but lets not confuse the two.  Rand Paul is 100% supported by the Tea Parties, a victory for him, is a victory for the Tea Party…and something that should strike fear into the RINO’s…you listening Mike Steele?

In Arkansas : Two term Senator Blanche Lincoln and Republican Congressman John Boozman, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination, both face party rivals running as outsiders.

If anyone has any other important races, let us know and give us some background and we will add them here.
