Florida Govenor Rick Scott to cave on Obamacare Medicaid Expansion

skellywelly

I was never a huge fan of Florida Governor Rick Scott. Although I voted for him in 2010, there was something shady about him. My instinct were correct about him. After seeing Obama win re-election by carrying Florida and with continues low approvals, Rick Scott has decided to shift Left. In an about face, Gov. Scott has agreed to expand the Florida’s Medicaid program under Obama care.

Florida Governor Rick Scott supports expanding Medicaid in his state under President Barack Obama’s health-care law, at least while the federal government pays for it, a reversal of the Republican’s previous position.

Scott said yesterday in Tallahassee that he’ll ask state lawmakers to back the expansion. After the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the law in June, Scott said he wouldn’t expand Medicaid, the health-care program for the poor, in Florida. Once Obama won re-election in November, Scott said he was open to it.

[….]

“It is not a white flag of surrender to government-run health care,” Scott said. The states split Medicaid costs with the federal government.

Until 2017, the state won’t pay any of the cost of covering people made newly eligible for the program. Thereafter, states don’t have to pay more than 10 percent of the extra cost. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the federal government’s bill for the expansion will be about $638 billion through 2023. The states will pay about $63 billion, according to the CBO.

Rick Scott has already caved to elements of the republican Party on allowing Casino based Destination resorts to be built in Florida. Allowing the Casinos would bring in tourism, jobs and added revenue to Florida. But no, an element in the Republican party killed the idea. Now Gov. Rick Scott aka Skeletor caves to Obama on Medicaid expansion. What use is a Republican if they do not believe in economic liberty and fiscal responsibility?

There is no use in voting for a Republicans if they are not economic or fiscally Conservatives. That is why in the 2014 Midterms I will vote for Libertarian Party candidate Roger Stone. He’s a former Republican who worked on the winning Presidential campaigns of Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. He got tired of the growing Statist nature and losing attitude of today’s Republican Party. He stands for economic and personal liberty. I will gladly vote for Roger Stone over that fraudster Rick Scott. Many other Republican I have spoken with, will also vote for Roger Stone. I will still vote Republcian at the Federal level in 2014, but Libertarian at the local level.

Bye bye Skeletor, you will be a one term wonder.

New Florida Poll: Romney 51% – Obama 45%; Pennsylvania Poll: Romney 49% – Obama 45%

Nate Silver and some Leftists like the loons like at LGF think Florida is in play for Obama. This new poll by Mason Dixon has Mitt Romney winning Florida 51% to Obama’s 45%.

Mitt Romney has maintained a solid lead over President Barack Obama in the latest Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald poll of likely voters who favor the Republican by six percentage points.

Romney’s strengths: independent voters and more crossover support from Democrats relative to the Republicans who back Obama, according to the survey conducted by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

Romney’s crossover appeal is fueled by strong support in rural North Florida, a conservative bastion where a relatively high percentage of Democrats often vote Republican in presidential election years.

“I’m pretty convinced Romney’s going to win Florida,” said Mason-Dixon pollster Brad Coker, who conducted the 800-likely voter survey from Tuesday through Thursday.

Florida is not in PLay Democrats, get that!
In other news a New Poll of Pennsylvania by Susquehanna Polling and Research has Mitt Romney beating Obama in that sate 49% – 45%.
Susquehanna Polling and Research results for Pennsylvania released today shows Mitt Romney leading President Obama 49% to 45% among 1376 likely voters. Two percent are undecided and 3% are for other candidates.

In the same sample Republican Tom Smith leads Senator Casey by two percentage points in the race for the United States Senate seat from Pennsylvania. Smith is at 48% to Casey’s 46% according to this poll.

This is the reason Mitt Romney is going into Pennsylvania on Sunday. I have felt this state is more winnable than Ohio.

The Obama campaign is pulling back in Florida, Virginia and North Carolina

When Suffolk Polling said they would stop polling Florida, Virginia and North Carolina, I thought they were jumping the gun. It seems they were onto something. In the polls released, Romney seems to have those 3 states on lock. The Obama campaign is now pulling back from those 3 states to defend Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. This is a sign that Romney has solidified traditional Republican states.

What also became clear after the dust began to settle from the rumble on Long Island was the electoral map has narrowed and Obama’s team, while conceding nothing publicly, is circling the wagons around Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. Plouffe said that Obama remains strong in all four states, but he would not discuss the specifics of internal polling or voter-contact analytics, saying only that Obama has “significant leads” in all four places.

It is uncharacteristic of Team Obama to concede any terrain, but Plouffe offered no such assurances about Obama’s position in North Carolina, Virginia, or Florida. Romney advisers have seen big gains in all three states and now consider wins likely, although not guaranteed, in all three. They are similarly upbeat about prospects in Colorado but not confident enough to predict victory. That Plouffe left Colorado off his list of states where Obama’s leading and can withstand a Romney surge might be telling.

According to RealClearPolitics, Obama currently has 201 of the 270 electoral votes needed to win. But that doesn’t give Obama electoral votes from Pennsylvania (20), Michigan (16), or Wisconsin (10). Of these three, Romney advisers believe that only one, Wisconsin, is even theoretically winnable. Obama advisers believe they will win all three. That would put Obama at 247 electoral votes. If Obama wins Ohio (18), Iowa (6), Nevada (6), and New Hampshire (4) he would claim 281 electoral votes. That means he could afford to lose New Hampshire and Nevada and still eke out a razor-thin victory of 271 electoral votes.

Romney, according to RCP, has 191 electoral votes. If you add Florida (29), North Carolina (15), and Virginia (13), that brings his total to 248 electoral votes. Add Colorado (9) –which neither campaign is prepared to claim or concede–and Romney’s total rises to 257 electoral votes. If Romney wins Ohio (18) in addition to these states, he would have 275 electoral votes. If Romney loses Ohio, he would need to win Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire to reach 273 electoral votes. There is a scenario where Romney could lose Ohio and New Hampshire but win Iowa and Nevada and one electoral vote from the 2nd Congressional District in Maine (the state allocates electoral votes by district vote) and capture the bare minimum of 270 electoral votes.

Living in Florida I can testify that I am not seeing many Obama ads anymore. Up until 3 weeks ago, it was a non stop barrage of Obama ads. Now I barely see them and its mostly Romney ads. Speaking to some of my Republican party contacts, they have told me that the Obama campaign has cut back on Florida. The Obama team is sending Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to campaign for Obama. This is another sign of the low priority Florida has.

It’s coming down to Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Hampshire and Colorado. Even though polls show Pennsylvania close, the Romney campaign has decided not to contest it. Instead they are focusing on the 5 states I mentioned previously. I feel this is a mistake since Romney has the resources to put PA. in play. Either way, it’s Obama who is now on the defensive and resorting to demagogue language.

New Florida Poll: Romney 51%, Obama 44%

Despite running nearly 5-1 ads against Mitt Romney here in Florida, the sate is slipping from Obama’s grasp. The latest Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9/Miami Herald poll conducted by Mason Dixon shows Romney now ahead 51% to Obama’s 44%. Romney’s destruction of Obama at last Wednesday has shifted the race in the Sunshine state.

The survey conducted this week found 51 percent of likely Florida voters supporting Romney, 44 percent backing Obama and 4 percent undecided. That’s a major shift from a month ago when the same poll showed Obama leading 48 percent to 47 percent — and a direct result of what Obama himself called a “bad night” at the first debate.

The debate prompted 5 percent of previously undecided voters and 2 percent of Obama backers to move to Romney. Another 2 percent of Obama supporters said they are now undecided because of the debate.

“There’s no question in my mind that debate made people stand up and pay attention, and it really wiped away any questions people had about Romney, whether they were undecided or soft for Obama,” said Brad Coker of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, which conducted the poll for the Times and its media partners.

[….]

We ran away from other countries in search of a more traditional United States,” said Coral Gables resident Mary Gonzalez, who immigrated from Venezuela. “I think with the current president, the United States moves to (the left). And with Romney, I believe he can return the United States to its traditional course.”

Romney needs to go for the jugular and finish Obama off in Florida so he can focus on The Upper Midwest, Virginia, Colorado and Nevada. Obama is wounded, but not done yet!
