I love that mashup, because the guy with the instant vanilla rouge represents just about every smarmy jerk I can think of including the snide and arrogant medium-sized dollop of eyegorp named Piers Stefan Pughe-Morgan. I’d never heard of the smug douchebag until his interview with Andrew Breitbart.

Meanwhile, Mr. P.S.P-M can take his carpetbagging anti-American propaganda-pimping style of “journalism” back to Oceania and stuff it up his CNN.

Progressive Assholery can be Cured With…Magnets!

In this piece, Dr. Helen Smith (clinical psychologist) asks an interesting question:

I often feel bad for those on the right such as Jeff Goldstein who try to make sense of someone on the left who treats them with disdain and disgust. Goldstein received an email from an old creative writing professor recently saying that he was disturbed by Goldstein’s writings and wanted Goldstein to remove his name from his “about page.” When Goldstein called Brian Kiteley, the professor, up on the phone for clarification, Kiteley called him names:

So I dialed him up and he answered. When I told him who was calling, he let out a forced “laugh” — I presume to show his bemused exasperation with my gall at having contacted him — and, when pressed, he called me a “jerk”.

Initially, Goldstein says he was hurt by his professor’s intolerant attitude, but then, his hurt rightly turned to anger. This professor tolerated free speech only for liberal ideas. But shouldn’t we all have the right to free speech? Apparently, only if it’s left-leaning. And one would think a creative writing professor might be above this. But the problem is, he may have a blind spot when it comes to those on the right.

To explain this, she refers to this:

Jonathan Haidt, a professor at the University of Virginia and author of The Happiness Hypothesis: Finding Modern Truth in Ancient Wisdom, found that conservatives could more readily put themselves in the shoes of liberals and understand morally where they were coming from. The reverse was not true of liberals. They have little understanding of those with opposing views to their own. As Haidt states:

“I think of liberals as colorblind,” he says in a hushed tone that conveys the quiet intensity of a low-key crusader. “We have finely tuned sensors for harm and injustice but are blind to other moral dimensions. Look at the way the word ‘wall’ is used in liberal discourse. It’s almost always related to the idea that we have to knock them down.”

So the question is:

Why are liberals unable to sympathize with conservatives?

She, of course, is being way too polite. The question is, why are proggies such assholes?

She attempts to answer the question with three hypotheses. One is:

First, I often wonder if this “blind spot” for conservatives is similar to the psychopath who cannot comprehend the morality of those who are “normal.” At the present time, there is no known cure for treating the psychopath. Trying to get someone on the left to see where a conservative is coming from may be as difficult as trying to change the mind of a psychopath. Perhaps that will happen one day.

Seems to fit. They’re just mentally deficient. They’re missing something.

Then, along comes this paper from MIT:

MIT neuroscientists have shown they can influence people’s moral judgments by disrupting a specific brain region — a finding that helps reveal how the brain constructs morality.

Hmm. Seems to be picking up where Dr. Smith left off.

To make moral judgments about other people, we often need to infer their intentions — an ability known as “theory of mind.” For example, if a hunter shoots his friend while on a hunting trip, we need to know what the hunter was thinking: Was he secretly jealous, or did he mistake his friend for a duck?

This of course is completely relevant because the assholery of proggys is primarily driven by a moral vanity that imputes evil intent to all who disagree.

Previous studies have shown that a brain region known as the right temporo-parietal junction (TPJ) is highly active when we think about other people’s intentions, thoughts and beliefs. In the new study, the researchers disrupted activity in the right TPJ by inducing a current in the brain using a magnetic field applied to the scalp. They found that the subjects’ ability to make moral judgments that require an understanding of other people’s intentions — for example, a failed murder attempt — was impaired.

So. They’ve located the center of assholery in the brain. AND, they’ve found that magnets can influence this center of assholery.

This gives us hope that some day, modern science can cure progressive assholery. In the mean time, all progs are advised to incorporate magnets into their tinfoil hats, so that they cover the right temporo-parietal junction, just in case. And to make you look like bigger dopes than you already look like.
