Chris Christie pulls NJ out of Cap and Trade system

Northeastern and Mid Atlantic states have a region cap and trade system. Their goal is to reduce carbon emissions 10% by 2018. In reality this was a tax that hiked electric costs to consumers. NJ Gov. Chris Christie being the economic Conservative that he is has pulled NJ out of this regional grouping. He knew it was bogus and this decided to

Governor Christie said this morning that he will pull New Jersey out of a regional cap-and-trade energy program.

The move drew strong criticism from environmental advocates who argued it was a rollback of clean energy efforts. But it was supported by business groups who said the 10-state Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative was a burdensome energy tax.

“We will withdraw from RGGI in an orderly fashion by year’s end,” Christie said.

RGGI is a cooperative effort by Northeastern and mid-Atlantic states to reduce carbon dioxide emissions 10 percent by 2018. To do so, power plant operators such as PSE&G must purchase allowances from their host states to cover each ton of carbon dioxide emissions they are likely to produce. The companies can then buy, sell or trade their permits. Companies that reduce their emissions and don’t need all their allowances might sell them to a company whose emissions exceed their allowances.

Chris Christie understands that people are hurting economically. One way to help them is to lower the costs on businesses, which in turn means more money for investments. With fuel prices rising, the consumers of NJ didn’t need additional costs.

I salute what Christie has done!

The Federal budget has been the subject of debate all over the country for the past few weeks and months. With a proposal finally pushed through last week, there remains some controversy in the republican realm over the EPA’s budget after the resolution. The choice to only cut about 16 percent of the EPA’s budget, as well as reduce only a few programs has continued to ruffle the feathers of outspoken republicans who see many EPA regulations as costly and unneeded, primarily those that allow the EPA to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. GOP reps and business leaders have connected the regulations with reduced revenue and no employment growth.

With the resolution providing less than stellar results for the republicans, it will remain to be seen if they will continue their assault on the EPA throughout 2011. If one had to bet, look for them to continue. The republicans have built up too much time and effort to stop simply because the budget proposal didn’t come to their own liking. It would be one thing if the proposal included cuts to any of the EPA programs that have constricted business owners and industry recently, instead the resolution simply cuts down on some of the EPA’s local projects and water infrastructure plans. Conspicuously left off the cuts was any reference to the greenhouse gas regulation, the Clean Air Act, or the cap and trade taxes that are hindering industry revenue and employment growth.

Given the misfire by President Obama, it’s likely that the GOP will have to adjust its plan of attack on the EPA. They have already introduced the Energy Tax Prevention Act of 2011, which is guided to take power away from the Clean Air Act and to eliminate the cap and trade agenda, which levies costly taxes against businesses. It’s likely that more acts such as this one will continue to be levied by GOP reps in what little effort they can put forth to reduce the EPA’s power, primarily because they’ve been continually rejected. One plan of attack that may work well against the EPA is to point out their inability to promote, invest, and defend the proper initiatives, such as ones that are served to cut down directly on environmentally related health risks, instead of defending rather useless initiatives. Every year the EPA does work with little resources on programs such as asbestos removal which cuts down on mesothelioma cases, as well as limiting water contamination levels, public water problems and its associated health risks.

A better use of the EPA’s current resources should be the GOP’s reference point. The EPA’s work in water contamination allows the agency to regulate and monitor public water sources and local water rules in an effort to cut back on the associated health problems. Their work in asbestos abatement does wonders all over the country every year ridding schools and older buildings of potentially hazardous materials. In some cases, their work in removing asbestos can even be considered a direct life saving initiative, seeing as mesothelioma life expectancy is on average, lasts only a year after diagnosis. Considering the direct impact that some of the EPA’s initiatives can have, it should be pointed out and exploited that there has been a recent failure in promoting and diverting resources to the right programs.

Given the fact that the EPA has spent the bulk of the year defending the Clean Air Act and the cap and trade agenda, two controversial issues, they could stand do divert some of their attention to more important programs. Hopefully republicans and business owners will continue to point out the ineffectiveness in some areas of the EPA’s structure, in a way that can get back revenue and employment growth, while still looking to serve the environment in the proper way.

Obama taking advantage of the oil spill

The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is beyond a doubt a disaster. The regime of Barack Hussein Obama was late in getting involved and just blamed BP for the mess. Although BP is to blame, it is the Federal Government’s duty to assist in the cleanup since these waters are under Federal Jurisdiction. This is incompetent and if it was a Republican President, they would be attacked without mercy. However, this is Obama and the press is doing no such thing. Instead, Mr. Hussein is using the Oil spill to his advantage to push his Neo-Feudal agenda.

Since the spill is undeniably a crisis and the Obama administration’s ethic is never to let one go to waste, Obama says the BP disaster means Congress should pass his energy bill and “answer this challenge, once and for all.” As with much of Obama’s agenda, this is a convenient non sequitur posing as an urgent response.

A cap-and-trade bill could have passed years ago and we’d still be drilling offshore. The Outer Continental Shelf had 4,000 oil and gas facilities as of 2002. Obama proposed even more offshore drilling just a few weeks before the BP spill, an acknowledgment that drilling will be necessary even if he gets his way on an energy bill.

Cap-and-trade will increase the cost of petroleum, but not enough to end its usefulness. As Jerry Taylor of the Cato Institute points out, we use 70 percent of our petroleum for transportation, simply because nothing else is as efficient in powering our cars and trucks. In Europe, gas costs $7 a gallon; people still put it in their cars.

Read it all: Drowning in the spill

This would a perfect time for the Republicans to use Alinsky style tactics against Obama. Even some Progressives like James Carville, Chris Matthews and Peggy Noonan are criticizing Obama. The problem is whether the GOP has the fortitude to take advantage of this? Or will Barack Hussein Obama and the Progressive once again get a pass and maybe even gain from this?

Let’s have a Blogmocracy discussion about this.

Cap-N-Trade Bill on its way

The Trani Progressive concept of Cap and Tax is on its way. Thanks to the assistance of Compassionate Conservative Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the bill is et to be introduced April 26th.  Unlike the Eugenics based Obamacare, this has the support of Elitist Republicans and will all likely pass.

WASHINGTON, April 15 (Reuters) – A long-awaited compromise bill to reduce U.S. emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases blamed for global warming will be unveiled by a group of senators on April 26, sources said on Thursday.

The legislative language to be sketched out in 11 days, according to government and environmental sources, is being drafted by Democratic Senator John Kerry, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and independent Senator Joseph Lieberman.

Backers of the environmental bill hope the unveiling will pave the way for the full Senate to debate and pass a measure in June or July if the compromise attracts enough support from a group of moderate Republicans and Democrats.

This shows us why primaries are important. If the Republicans had stayed united on this, they can filibuster. However since the elite of the GOP is Progressive, they will cooperate. Unlike Obamacare, the public is not getting riled up about this bill. Make no mistake about it, Cap and Tarde is about control. The government will determine how mush energy is used and will make it more expensive. This is Neo-Feudalism and shame on the Republican traitors like Lindsey Graham who are enabling this Tranzi scheme.
