Yeah. Stay home. Don’t vote, California.

Today, Tuesday, 8 June 2010, is California’s Primary election. For those of you on the west coast, the ballot initiatives are probably the most important of the mess.

As for me, I’m voting NO on every initiative except for Prop 13. It’s a good measure, and has no opposition. Owners of existing buildings should not be penalized by property tax reassessment for seismic retrofitting.

As for the candidates, Meg Whitman gets my vote for Republican nominee for governator, and conservative Chuck Devore deserves to go to the U.S. Senate. The other candidates for other seats don’t matter much.

Now, Steve Rocco is another story. I’m tempted to vote for him just for the hell of it because he pissed so many people off. Here’s a guy who was elected to the board of the Orange Unified School District without even campaigning. He beat out the other contenders with a pair of nothing, and once elected, it took weeks for the OUSD to find out who and where he was. He’s a bizarre dark stocking cap with black sunglasses who’s full of conspiracy theories, and was arrested for supposedly stealing a half-empty bottle of catsup from an OUSD cafeteria. Now he’s running for Public Administrator.

Sounds like a great candidate. Write in Bunk Strutts instead.

If and when I am elected, my first duty shall be to reduce my pay by 33%.  If I have to wear a tie in order to perform my duties, we’re talking  about a 25% reduction. Savings all around. Everyone who can prove that they voted for Bunk gets a voucher for a free drink at the watering hole of your choice. You got it. I’m buying a round for the house on my dime.

You can’t lose. After all, look at the alternatives.

So there you are minding your own business at the bottom of the ocean, when some pufferhead stumbles by and completely blows your cover. It’s enough to piss you off.

Well, what can you do? You’re just a kickass bitchin’ mussel-eatin’ limb-regeneratin’ starfish, with no eyes, no ears and no brain, and you crap through your feet. Yeah, run away while I’m talking to you, woosfish. Face it, you can’t even gripe about it because you don’t have an Overnight Open Thread.

Loser.

No news is good news but old news was better. Sometimes I wish we had more old news instead of the current barrage of doom and gloom. Markets are down, unemployment is up, we have daily reports of blatant lies in the MSM shoring up a failed congress and a worse presidency. The only light at the end of the tunnel might not show itself until November.

Even that’s an iffy proposition, as flipping congress into a conservative majority won’t have any immediate effects on the economy as long as current spending programs remain in place. History proves that welfare states are unsustainable, and with close to 50% of the U.S. populace working in government jobs paid for by those who don’t, things look pretty bleak.

It’s going to get worse before it gets better. I’d rather read about meat driving girls sex crazy instead, and that’s a great cynical lead-in to an Overnight Open Thread.

Now really. Which silhouette is hotter?

Despite what the modern mind might think, The Ancients weren’t oblivious to the power of suggestive images. Lacking cameras or other modern recording equipment, they made many such representations of female anatomy (such as the one above left). Undoubtedly they knew that straw, sand or mud images wouldn’t last.

The only difference between The Ancients and us is that developing such images took weeks instead of mere seconds. On the other hand, their images lasted thousands of years, and they’re STILL hawt, in a paleolithic kinda way.

One can only imagine the surprise when Bhugah took Mokrhah aside to show him his stone equivalent of teh pron. “Dude! Check it out! Looks just like that slut from the Ptkusu clan across the wash! Give it back to me in an hour.” Of course, Bhugah never got it back, and was forced to hunt down and kill Mokrhah for being a profligate neolithic wanker.

Hell, they were just teenage boys with a tad too much time on their hands, and each likely died of an errant fleabite infection at the old age of 23, long before serious diseases were invented. But their rock-porn survived.

Fertility goddesses? Nah. Those were wanking stones.

Next stop: Overnight Open Thread.
