Crime Statistsic: US vs. Russia

This is interesting. What is amazing about the article is it is from NPR:

The U.S. and Russia have been taking lots of jabs at each other.

Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized President Obama’s plan for a military strike in Syria, and the Russian leader then denounced American “exceptionalism” in a biting op-ed in The New York Times.

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., fired back Thursday with his own op-ed in the Russian paper Pravda, entitled, “Russia Deserves Better Than Putin.”

Even Monday’s shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, in which a gunmen killed 12 people, has become part of the feud.

Alexei Pushkov, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Russia’s parliament, used the shooting to mock the United States as it was happening.

“A new shootout at Navy headquarters in Washington — a lone gunman and seven corpses. Nobody’s even surprised anymore. A clear confirmation of American exceptionalism,” Puskoy tweeted.

But while Pushkov sneers at U.S. gun laws, how do the stats look in Russia?

According to Gunpolicy.org, Russians have far fewer guns than Americans — and far more homicides.

There are fewer than 13 million firearms in circulation in Russia, compared with an estimated 300 million in the United States. That works out to about 9 guns per 100 people in Russia and closed to 100 guns per 100 people in America.

The most recent homicide statistics for Russia show that there were 21,603 killings in 2009.

According to the FBI, the United States had 13,636 homicides in 2009 with a population that is more than twice as large. More than 80 percent of those killings were gun-related.

It’s difficult to make a direct comparison of gun homicides in the two countries because Russia doesn’t break down its murder statistics

More guns equlas less crime. Even NPR can’t deny the statistics. What they don;t point out is that half of America’s murders are done by young, black males, who are only about 6% of the population. If you could get the black homicide rate down to merely double that of whites, America with all her guns would have a lower homicide rate than almost any of the strictly controlled (and thius unfree) nations of Europe. Think abou tthat for a moment. The black homicide rate is an extremely daunting fact. Why are young black men so unifiormly violent? All in all, this article was pretty even handed to come from NPR. We have in America nacent totalitarians who want to disarm the citizenry, but we have fewer murders than Russia, which has very strict gun laws. This is not propagnada for increasing America’s gun control laws. From NPR, that is a surprise.

NPR pushes the Obama as a God-King Theme!

The concept of the God-King is one that has been around since probably the times of the Annunaki (Ancient Aliens/Fallen Angels). The Kings who claimed decent from this non Earth beings passed themselves off as Gods. Ancient Egypt is a prime example. The Pharaohs were the epitome of the concept of a god-king. They had Priests that would proclaim their divinity and have people worship the Pharaohs. If a Pharaoh was removed, they were declared to be false gods. The Emperor Caligula declared himself a God as did various other Roman Emperor.Although this may seem as Ancient history, it has returned with a  vengeance.

Ever since his 2004 Democratic Convention speech, the media proclaimed Obama a political messiah.  In cover after cover, they would put Obama in a  halo or Aura. Even Thomas of Newsweek even called him god! He was heralded as a light worker and a semi divine being.  Now in 2012, despite 3 years of failed economic policies and his ineptitude being revealed, he is still viewed as a god-king Pharaoh by many Americans

At around 130 days until Election Day, National Public Radio thought it would be nice to give the President a little boost by going back to its 2008 practice of assigning to Obama the god-like powers of The One, The Light Bringer, The Obammessiah.

This time tax dollar supported NPR thought it would be nice to air the claim that the mere sound of Obama’s voice can part the clouds, stop that depressing ol’ rain, and bring out the sun. No, really.

On Tuesday, June 26, NPR correspondent Scott Horsley reported from a New Hampshire Obama rally and his report reads alternately like a campaign advertisement for President Obama, a Super PAC attack ad on Mitt Romney, and a cult-like deification of The One.

[….]

NPR’s Horsley: By the time the President finished speaking, the rain had stopped, and a little sunshine was peeking through the clouds. That gave David O’Donnell of Portsmouth one more reason to be impressed with Mr. Obama.

Rally Participant O’Donnell: See what his voice does? It clears up the weather, too. It clears up the economy, creates jobs, helps education, and straightens out the weather.

I can not emphasize this enough. We are not dealing with a  politician, we are dealing with a symbol. Obama’s poll numbers are still in the mid 40’s, when they should be in the 30’s. He has a cult like hold on too many Americans. Nothing seems to politically fatally hurt Obama. Obama the god-king myth needs to be shattered. The fact you have Americans who think his voice makes the rain stop is something that should send chills down the spines of Americans.

Here is my prediction about an (God forbid) Obama 2nd term. Obama with the assistance of Hollywood special effects perform some sign. He will pull a  Caligula that he is a Divine being who has come to rescue humanity.  Term limits will be repealed and office of Presidency will be changed to the office of the Divine leader. I wish I was joking, but I truly believe this. That’s why despite my disagreements with Romney and the Republican party , they are too Progressive-Left for my taste,  he needs to be removed. We are dealing with Cult here and it must be defeated for all our sakes.

Juan Williams: It’s Time to Defund NPR

Juan Williams

Fox News commentator Juan Williams (formerly of NPR) has finally acknowledged just how corrupt and ruthless the liberal media and its supporters actually can be. Though Williams is still a liberal himself, he is not a doctrinaire liberal, in that he has been open to reconsidering his previous viewpoints when new evidence comes to light. I believe that he is, at heart, a decent human being.

Williams: Now it’s time to to defund NPR

(h/t: The Jawa Report)

By Juan Williams – 03/21/11 06:00 AM ET

Even after they fired me, called me a bigot and publicly advised me to only share my thoughts with a psychiatrist, I did not call for defunding NPR. I am a journalist, and NPR is an important platform for journalism.

But last week my line of defense for NPR ran into harsh political realities. Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee sent out a fundraising letter with the following argument for maintaining public funding of NPR:

“They [Republicans] know NPR plays a vital role in providing quality news programming — from rural radio stations to in-depth coverage of foreign affairs. If the Republicans had their way, we’d only be left with the likes of Glenn Beck, Limbaugh and Sarah Palin to dominate the airwaves.”

With that statement, Congressman Israel made the case better than any Republican critic that NPR is radio by and for liberal Democrats. He is openly asking liberal Democrats to give money to liberal Democrats in Congress so they can funnel federal dollars into news radio programs designed to counter and defeat conservative Republican voices.

Rep. Israel has unintentionally endorsed every conservative complaint about NPR as a liberal mouthpiece. And to me, as a journalist, it is also a statement of why NPR’s troubled management team has turned its fundraising efforts into a weapon to be used against its essential product — top quality, balanced reporting. No journalist should have to work with one finger in the political winds, anxiously waiting to see if Democrats continue to be pleased with what they hear on NPR as a counter to what they don’t like hearing from Rush Limbaugh.

But, wait, there might be one better argument for ending federal funding of NPR.

NPR’s top fundraiser, Ron Schiller, was caught on tape recently saying explicitly that “in the long run…[NPR is] better off without federal funding.”

In fact, Rep. Israel might have added spice to his fundraising appeal directed at liberal Democrats by quoting Schiller’s praise of liberal Democrats. “In my personal opinion,” Schiller says on the tape, “liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced than conservatives.”

Betsy Liley, the director of institutional giving at NPR, is also heard on the tape saying that liberal billionaire George Soros has made it his business to subsidize NPR with as little fanfare as possible — that is to say to do it secretly. [emphasis added]

Liley’s revealing comment and Schiller’s arrogance are instructive because they provide a window in to the culture of elitism that has corroded NPR’s leadership. They’re willing to do anything in service of any liberal with money. This includes firing me and skewing the editorial content of their programming. If anyone challenges them on this point, they will claim with self-righteous indignation to have cleaner hands than the rest of the news media who accepts advertising revenue or expresses a point of view.

I’m not just talking about conservatives but also the far left, the poor — anybody who didn’t fit into leadership’s marketing design of NPR as the elitist voice of comfortable, liberal-leaning, highly educated, upper-income America.

As for Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), it was not until he saw the secretly recorded videotape of NPR executives that he understood the extent of political bias at NPR. “Of all the data that we’ve seen, we still had not absorbed the culture of NPR until we saw the video of that dinner.” House Majority Leader Eric Cantor added: “Why should we allow taxpayer dollars to be used to advocate one ideology?”

That dinner tape and the Democrat’s fundraising letter set the table for a totally partisan vote, with Republicans voting in opposition to public funding of NPR and Democrats voting for it. Last Thursday, 228 Republicans voted to defund NPR while seven Republicans joined with 185 Democrats to preserve it. The effort was largely symbolic as there is hardly any chance the Democrat-controlled Senate will go along with the House on this one. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is a huge NPR fan…

Read the rest on The Hill.

Juan Williams believes that the funding that NPR receives directly from the federal government is far more important than the indirect government funding received via the stations in the network that run NPR programs. I am not at all convinced of that. Be that as it may, I say that it is time to end all taxpayer funding, whether direct or indirect, of television or radio broadcasting networks or stations.
