Compare & Contrast – Photo Trickery

We may have posted this previously but so what. We’re making a point here.

All About The Angle

Recently Barack Obama was photographed in preparation to awarding medals to some overlooked heroes of WWII. All well and good in principle, but let’s compare reality vs. propaganda. Here’s a posed photo of the POTUS in the Oval Office:

Obama Awards 24 Medals Of Honor For Valor During WWII, Korean And Vietnam Wars
Note the slightly skewed angle and the higher than average camera elevation. Note the wide-angle lens distortion. Mr. Obama looks tall and imposing, almost Putin-like, да? Once we remove the distortion of the propagandacam, the reality is much different:Oval Office 2
Note that in the 2nd image Obama isn’t nearly as tall, nor is he as wide as the Getty Image above would have you believe. The only difference between the two is that we squared up the door and wallpaper. (We can’t adjust for the height of the camera. It happens to be at Obama’s eyeline, and makes him appear to tower over the others in the picture.)

Subtle, yet obvious once pointed out, just like The Overnight Open Thread.

Remember the 2011 StimuBus?

What seems like a very long time ago we posted this, lifted from Doug Ross’ Journal. I thought it was funny at the time without realizing that it was not an image from a Third World Country, but one that was right here in the US of A.
The number at the top of the StimuBus (347) is a New York phone exchange.

[UPDATE: SEE CORRECTION BELOW]

Okay, that’s Che on the left, but who’s the orange asshole on the right? Tookie?

I watched D’Souza‘s documentary “2016” recently and I recommend it to everyone regardless of political affiliation.

Are you a Liberal? See it. Are you a Paulian? See it. Are you an Independent because you can’t make up your mind what you believe in? See it. Worship purple hamsters and track the equinox? See it. Is your name Charles Johnson? (OK Charles, you don’t have to see it until Media Matters tells you to and approves your thumb print but you ought to see it anyway and not tell them.

Watch it, then re-review the published outrage from the Left –  that a man of color (D’Souza) would dare to promote a documentary that questions the indoctrinated beliefs of a half-white President who was abandoned by his own father and raised by people who instructed him in in the finer points of Collectivism. D’Souza’s documentary illustrates with civility and respect, and is choreographed with Obama’s own words.

Once the trash starts to stink, it’s past time to throw it out.

[CORRECTION: The “Stimu-Bus” image is from Haiti, not NYC. h/t Guggi]

Political Meme Mashup = WIN

The whole dog meme amuses me because it’s inherently stupid on so many levels. I like stupid when it’s funny, so let’s sum it up.

The Left made a big deal about how Mitt Romney transported his dog in a carrier decades ago.
The Right countered with Ayers’ Obama’s claim that he ate a dog decades ago.
The Left responded with outrage that the Right had the audacity to mock them and put dogs in the middle of the Important Political Discussion  that the Left brought up in the first place.

So let’s clear the air. According to the AKC, this is NOT how to transport a dog:

THIS is the proper way to transport a dog, according to Obama and his disciples:

If I were a dog on the internet and was able to type an opinion, I’d tell the world, “Don’t eat me.” Then I’d tell them, “Don’t put me in a box in the dark belly of a plane because I’ll be scared for hours.” Then I’d say, “Let me car surf instead on The Overnight Open Thread.”

World Nuge Tonight

Ted Nugent, a Michigan-born conservative who has endorsed Obama’s presumed Republican challenger in the November elections, Mitt Romney, drew Secret Service attention with his blunt remarks about Obama and administration officials at the NRA event.

“We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November,” Nugent said at the convention.

U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Convention, responded earlier this week, saying “threatening violence – or whatever it is that Nugent’s threatening – is clearly beyond the pale.” [via]

In response to Wasserman-Schultz, Nugent was typically blunt and to the point.

“Now what you gotta do, I’ll tell you what you gotta do You got to pretend your face is a Maserati It’s a Maserati It’s a Maserati It’s a gettin’ hotty It’s a Maserati, Maserati, Maserati It’s a fast one too man, that thing’s turbocharged You feel like a little fuel injection honey? I’ll tell ya about it, I’ll tell you about it I gotta get that hood scoop off, shine and shine and buff I’ll check out the hood scoop I gotta buff it up, buff it up, buff it up, buff it up, buff it up, Yeah, shiny now baby, heh heh heh You’ve been drivin’ all night long It’s time to put the old Maserati away.”

That’s right, folks, it’s zee Wango zee Tango on The Overnight Open Thread.

[Update: Photo in the screen cap was misidentified.
It is not Ted Nugent, it is Sammy Hagar. – ed.]

[Update II: Although the above is mostly snark, this is not. h/t RoL.]
