David Thompson: On Feminism, Socialism & Liberal Hypocricy

The following words and links are not my own, but those of David Thompson on 9 June 2014. Permission to repost requested. Meanwhile, here’s the source link.

Christina Hoff Sommers on feminist scholarship:

The problem with a lot of research on women is not so much that the authors make mistakes — we all make mistakes — the problem is that the mistakes are impervious to criticism.

For a flavour of that imperviousness and some feminist reactions to being corrected, see also this.

Glenn Reynolds on unsustainable ideologies:

I’m reminded of what Robert Heinlein said about hippies: “Hippydom is not itself a culture (as the hippies seem to think) as it has no economic foundation; it can exist only as a parasitic excrescence to the ‘square’ culture.” So too with the academic humanities, which have largely squandered the moral and intellectual capital they once possessed by adopting the roles of adversaries to, rather than preservers of, the larger culture. This, too, turns out not to be sustainable.

That adversarial role-play has been discussed here many times, along with its descent into psychodrama.

And Ed Driscoll discovers there are no socialists in divorce court:

Michael Moore, who has spent his entire career attacking capitalism, wealth, and Wall Street, is suddenly very protective concerning the capital, wealth and investments he has amassed over the years. As Christian Toto writes at Big Hollywood, “Far-left filmmaker Michael Moore is divorcing his wife, and the looming court battle looks ugly already.” Christian links to this Smoking Gun report, which notes that “the couple’s combined assets are likely worth tens of millions of dollars,” including “multiple substantial residences and multiple companies.”

But America’s most outspoken socialist, being an outspoken socialist, deserves nine properties, including an agreeable Upper West Side apartment valued at $1.27 million and, naturally, a mansion. This, remember, is a self-described multimillionaire who told the world, quite boldly, “Capitalism did nothing for me.”

How does a country that is epiglottisly deep in debt get out of it? Soak the taxpayers. Raise taxes and depress the economy even more. Keep investors hunkered down. As if things aren’t bad enough, what Bernanke’s proposing is likely to create inflation – that fortunately has been stagnant for years. Yeah, that’s the ticket to prosperity.

Anyone notice that big money players (like Warren Buffett, George Soros, George Paulson & Vladimir Putin) are buying up gold and precious metals like insane cat collectors? There’s a reason. They all know what’s coming down – a world-wide depression, thanks to an insane U.S. fiscal policy, set up by the Democrat-controlled Congress under the Bush administration, then promoted and promulgated by the Obama Regime.

And it IS a Regime.

Although the regime is sometimes hidden and not in front of the cameras of the general public, it has been aiding and abetting the radical left for decades, with a very patient step-by-step procedure. Although the names change, the mission is the same.

China didn’t fall to communism overnight. Neither did Russia fall immediately. Even the National Socialists began as an unpopular splinter group in Germany. It took decades and more before these evil regimes were accepted as a bunch of good guys looking out for the best interests of the populace.

Infiltrate the universities and schools. Check.
Indoctrinate the next generation. Check.
Infiltrate the main stream media. Check.
Install radicals in high positions of authority. Check
Create a large class dependent upon government for subsistance. Check.
Demonize the wealthy and successful. Work in progress.
Attack and ban religion and charity. Work in progress.

Once those simple tasks have been accomplished, the elites can take over and may God help us.

May God have pity on the rest of the world too, because if what this Regime wants comes to pass, the United States of America, the most successful nation in history, the most charitable nation in history, the most powerful nation in history, will not be able to help them any longer.

And Ben Bernanke is providing one more step on that path to the economic destruction of this great country.

Kitty Werthmann was born in Austria and witnessed the effects of Hitler’s policies first hand. The article below dates to at least 1996 -I found it in the July 2012 issue of Military. As we approach another Independence Day it seems entirely appropriate for recirculation, especially in this election year.

Commentors on the websites where the article appears generally consider it to be historically accurate, with the exception of her description of the Austrian election which was a contrived fraud. Others corroborate her story. Left-leaning blogs dismiss Werthmann due to her religion, her position on the 2nd Amendment, her age, and especially because she’s a popular speaker at TEA Party rallies. One website even described her article as pure propaganda.

Regardless of the criticisms, it’s a must-read, IMO. -Bunk X

America Truly Is The Greatest Country In The World.

By: Kitty Werthmann

What I am about to tell you is something you’ve probably never heard or will ever read in history books. I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide – 98% of the vote. I’ve never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.

In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates.

Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn’t want to work; there simply weren’t any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people – about 30 daily.

The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.

We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn’t have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group—Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.

We were overjoyed, and, for three days, we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed. (more…)
